Wa Adh-Dhāriyāti Dharwan  | By the dust scattering winds;[51.1] | وَالذَّارِيَاتِ ذَرْوا ً |
Fālĥāmilāti Wiqrāan  | then by the heavy laden clouds;[51.2] | فَالْحَامِلاَتِ وِقْرا ً |
Fāljāriyāti Yusrāan  | then by their swift gliding;[51.3] | فَالْجَارِيَاتِ يُسْرا ً |
Fālmuqassimāti 'Amrāan  | then by those who distribute the big affair (rain);[51.4] | فَالْمُقَسِّمَاتِ أَمْرا ً |
'Innamā Tū`adūna Laşādiqun  | surely, that which you are being promised is true;[51.5] | إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِق ٌ |
Wa 'Inna Ad-Dīna Lawāqi`un  | and surely, the Day of Judgment shall come to pass.[51.6] | وَإِنَّ الدِّينَ لَوَاقِع ٌ |
Wa As-Samā'i Dhāti Al-Ĥubuki  | By the sky full of orbits,[51.7] | وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِ |
'Innakum Lafī Qawlin Mukhtalifin  | surely you contradict one another in what you say,[51.8] | إِنَّكُمْ لَفِي قَوْل ٍ مُخْتَلِف ٍ |
Yu'ufaku `Anhu Man 'Ufika  | only the perverse persons turn away from the truth.[51.9] | يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ |
Qutila Al-Kharrāşūna  | Woe to those who judge by conjecture,[51.10] | قُتِلَ الْخَرَّاصُونَ |
Al-Ladhīna Hum Fī Ghamratin Sāhūna  | those who are engulfed in ignorance and heedlessness.[51.11] | الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي غَمْرَة ٍ سَاهُونَ |
Yas'alūna 'Ayyāna Yawmu Ad-Dīni  | They ask: “When will the Day of Judgment be?”[51.12] | يَسْأَلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدِّينِ |
Yawma Hum `Alá An-Nāri Yuftanūna  | It will be the Day when they will be punished in the fire,[51.13] | يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى النَّارِ يُفْتَنُونَ |
Dhūqū Fitnatakum Hādhā Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tasta`jilūna  | and it will be said: “Taste your chastisement! This is what you were seeking to hasten."[51.14] | ذُوقُوا فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِه ِِ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ |
'Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī Jannātin Wa `Uyūnin  | As to the righteous, they will be in the midst of gardens and springs,[51.15] | إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّات ٍ وَعُيُون ٍ |
'Ākhidhīna Mā 'Ātāhum Rabbuhum 'Innahum Kānū Qabla Dhālika Muĥsinīna  | joyfully receiving what their Rabb shall give them; for they were before that (during their life on earth) righteous people,[51.16] | آخِذِينَ مَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ |
Kānū Qalīlāan Mina Al-Layli Mā Yahja`ūna  | They used to sleep but little in the night time,[51.17] | كَانُوا قَلِيلا ً مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ |
Wa Bil-'Asĥāri Hum Yastaghfirūna  | pray for forgiveness in the early morning,[51.18] | وَبِالأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ |
Wa Fī 'Amwālihim Ĥaqqun Lilssā'ili Wa Al-Maĥrūmi  | and share their wealth with the needy who asked for it, and those who did not ask.[51.19] | وَفِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقّ ٌ لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ |
Wa Fī Al-'Arđi 'Āyātun Lilmūqinīna  | In the earth, there are signs for the firm believers,[51.20] | وَفِي الأَرْضِ آيَات ٌ لِلْمُوقِنِينَ |
Wa Fī 'Anfusikum 'Afalā Tubşirūna  | and also in your own selves; can you not see?[51.21] | وَفِي أَنفُسِكُمْ أَفَلاَ تُبْصِرُونَ |
Wa Fī As-Samā'i Rizqukum Wa Mā Tū`adūna  | In heaven is your sustenance and all that you are promised.[51.22] | وَفِي السَّمَاءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ |
Fawarabbi As-Samā'i Wa Al-'Arđi 'Innahu Laĥaqqun Mithla Mā 'Annakum Tanţiqūna  | I swear by the Rabb of heaven and earth that this is true, as certain as you are speaking now![51.23] | فَوَرَبِّ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ إِنَّه ُُ لَحَقّ ٌ مِثْلَ مَا أَنَّكُمْ تَنطِقُونَ |
Hal 'Atāka Ĥadīthu Đayfi 'Ibrāhīma Al-Mukramīna  | Have you heard the story of Ibrمhïm’s honored guests?[51.24] | هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ |
'Idh Dakhalū `Alayhi Faqālū Salāmāan Qāla Salāmun Qawmun Munkarūna  | When they came to him and said: “Peace be upon you!” “Peace be upon you also!” he answered, and seeing that they were strangers,[51.25] | إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلاَما ً قَالَ سَلاَم ٌ قَوْم ٌ مُنكَرُونَ |
Farāgha 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Fajā'a Bi`ijlin Samīnin  | he went quietly to his family, brought a roasted calf[51.26] | فَرَاغَ إِلَى أَهْلِه ِِ فَجَاءَ بِعِجْل ٍ سَمِين ٍ |
Faqarrabahu 'Ilayhim Qāla 'Alā Ta'kulūna  | and placed it before them saying: “Will you not eat?”[51.27] | فَقَرَّبَهُ~ُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُونَ |
Fa'awjasa Minhum Khīfatan Qālū Lā Takhaf Wa Bashsharūhu Bighulāmin `Alīmin  | When he saw them not eating, he became afraid of them. They said: “Have no fear,” and they gave him good news of a son endowed with knowledge.[51.28] | فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَة ً قَالُوا لاَ تَخَفْ وَبَشَّرُوه ُُ بِغُلاَمٍ عَلِيم ٍ |
Fa'aqbalati Amra'atuhu Fī Şarratin Faşakkat Wajhahā Wa Qālat `Ajūzun `Aqīmun  | Hearing this his wife came forward, with astonishment she smote her forehead and said: “A son to a barren old woman!”[51.29] | فَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَتُه ُُ فِي صَرَّة ٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيم ٌ |
Qālū Kadhāliki Qāla Rabbuki 'Innahu Huwa Al-Ĥakīmu Al-`Alīmu  | They replied: “Thus has said your Rabb: surely He is the Wise, the Knowledgeable.”[51.30] | قَالُوا كَذَلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ |
Qāla Famā Khaţbukum 'Ayyuhā Al-Mursalūna  | Ibrمhïm (Abraham) asked: “O Divine Messengers, what is your errand?”[51.31] | قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ |
Qālū 'Innā 'Ursilnā 'Ilá Qawmin Mujrimīna  | They replied: “We have been sent to a guilty nation (people of Lot, who were homosexuals),[51.32] | قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَوْم ٍ مُجْرِمِينَ |
Linursila `Alayhim Ĥijāratan Min Ţīnin  | to shower upon them brimstone,[51.33] | لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَة ً مِنْ طِين ٍ |
Musawwamatan `Inda Rabbika Lilmusrifīna  | marked by your Rabb for the transgressors."[51.34] | مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ |
Fa'akhrajnā Man Kāna Fīhā Mina Al-Mu'uminīna  | Then We saved all those who were believers in the town[51.35] | فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَنْ كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
Famā Wajadnā Fīhā Ghayra Baytin Mina Al-Muslimīna  | - We found none but one household of true Muslims[51.36] | فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْت ٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ |
Wa Taraknā Fīhā 'Āyatan Lilladhīna Yakhāfūna Al-`Adhāba Al-'Alīma  | - We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.[51.37] | وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَا آيَة ً لِلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ الْعَذَابَ الأَلِيمَ |
Wa Fī Mūsá 'Idh 'Arsalnāhu 'Ilá Fir`awna Bisulţānin Mubīnin  | There is also a sign for you in the story of Musa (Moses): when We sent him to Fir'on (Pharaoh) with clear authority,[51.38] | وَفِي مُوسَى إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَاهُ~ُ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَان ٍ مُبِين ٍ |
Fatawallá Biruknihi Wa Qāla Sāĥirun 'Aw Majnūnun  | but he turned his back along with his chiefs, saying: “He (Moses) is a sorcerer or a madman."[51.39] | فَتَوَلَّى بِرُكْنِه ِِ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُون ٌ |
Fa'akhadhnāhu Wa Junūdahu Fanabadhnāhum Fī Al-Yammi Wa Huwa Mulīmun  | Consequently, We seized him and his warriors, and cast them into the sea. Indeed he deserved much blame.[51.40] | فَأَخَذْنَاه ُُ وَجُنُودَه ُُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيم ٌ |
Wa Fī `Ādin 'Idh 'Arsalnā `Alayhimu Ar-Rīĥa Al-`Aqīma  | There is also a sign in the story of 'Ad: when We let loose on them a blighting wind[51.41] | وَفِي عَاد ٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّيحَ الْعَقِيمَ |
Mā Tadharu Min Shay'in 'Atat `Alayhi 'Illā Ja`alat/hu Kālrramīmi  | which made rotten everything that it blew on.[51.42] | مَا تَذَرُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ جَعَلَتْهُ كَالرَّمِيمِ |
Wa Fī Thamūda 'Idh Qīla Lahum Tamatta`ū Ĥattá Ĥīnin  | Likewise the story of Thamüd, when it was said to them: “Enjoy yourselves for a while,”[51.43] | وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّى حِين ٍ |
Fa`ataw `An 'Amri Rabbihim Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şā`iqatu Wa Hum Yanžurūna  | but they disobeyed the commandment of their Rabb; consequently they were overtaken by the thunderbolt even while they were looking on.[51.44] | فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ |
Famā Astaţā`ū Min Qiyāmin Wa Mā Kānū Muntaşirīna  | So neither they could stand up on their feet nor could they defend themselves.[51.45] | فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مِنْ قِيَام ٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنتَصِرِينَ |
Wa Qawma Nūĥin Min Qablu 'Innahum Kānū Qawmāan Fāsiqīna  | And We destroyed the people of Nüh (Noah) before them because they too were transgressors.[51.46] | وَقَوْمَ نُوح ٍ مِنْ قَبْلُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْما ً فَاسِقِينَ |
Wa As-Samā'a Banaynāhā Bi'ayydin Wa 'Innā Lamūsi`ūna  | We have built the heavens with Our hands, for We have the power to do so.[51.47] | وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْيد ٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ |
Wa Al-'Arđa Farashnāhā Fani`ma Al-Māhidūna  | We have spread out the earth; how excellent a spreader We are![51.48] | وَالأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ الْمَاهِدُونَ |
Wa Min Kulli Shay'in Khalaqnā Zawjayni La`allakum Tadhakkarūna  | We have created everything in pairs, so that you may learn a lesson from it.[51.49] | وَمِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ |
Fafirrū 'Ilá Al-Lahi 'Innī Lakum Minhu Nadhīrun Mubīnun  | O Prophet, say to mankind: “Rush towards Allah, surely I am assigned by Him as a plain Warner to you all.[51.50] | فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِير ٌ مُبِين ٌ |
Wa Lā Taj`alū Ma`a Al-Lahi 'Ilahāan 'Ākhara 'Innī Lakum Minhu Nadhīrun Mubīnun  | Do not set up another god besides Allah, surely I am assigned by Him as a plain Warner to you all."[51.51] | وَلاَ تَجْعَلُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَها ً آخَرَ إِنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِير ٌ مُبِين ٌ |
Kadhālika Mā 'Atá Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Min Rasūlin 'Illā Qālū Sāĥirun 'Aw Majnūnun  | It has been the case that whenever a Rasool came to the peoples before them, they said about him: “He is a sorcerer or a madman."[51.52] | كَذَلِكَ مَا أَتَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ رَسُول ٍ إِلاَّ قَالُوا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُون ٌ |
'Atawāşaw Bihi Bal Hum Qawmun Ţāghūna  | Have they transmitted this statement from one generation to the next? Nay, but they are all a rebellious people.[51.53] | أَتَوَاصَوْا بِه ِِ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْم ٌ طَاغُونَ |
Fatawalla `Anhum Famā 'Anta Bimalūmin  | So, O Prophet, ignore them; you are not at fault.[51.54] | فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِمَلُوم ٍ |
Wa Dhakkir Fa'inna Adh-Dhikrá Tanfa`u Al-Mu'uminīna  | But keep on admonishing them, for admonition is beneficial to the true believers.[51.55] | وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَى تَنفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
Wa Mā Khalaqtu Al-Jinna Wa Al-'Insa 'Illā Liya`budūni  | We have not created jinns and mankind except to worship Me.[51.56] | وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالإِنسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ |
Mā 'Urīdu Minhum Min Rizqin Wa Mā 'Urīdu 'An Yuţ`imūni  | I require no sustenance from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me.[51.57] | مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ رِزْق ٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ يُطْعِمُونِ |
'Inna Al-Laha Huwa Ar-Razzāqu Dhū Al-Qūwati Al-Matīnu  | Surely it is Allah Who is the giver of all sustenance, the Lord of Power, the Invincible.[51.58] | إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ |
Fa'inna Lilladhīna Žalamū Dhanūbāan Mithla Dhanūbi 'Aşĥābihim Falā Yasta`jilūni  | Surely those who are wrongdoers, shall have their portion of torment similar to the portion of their predecessors; so let them not challenge Me to hurry it on.[51.59] | فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ذَنُوبا ً مِثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ فَلاَ يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ |
Fawaylun Lilladhīna Kafarū Min Yawmihimu Al-Ladhī Yū`adūna  | Woe then to the unbelievers, on that Day with which they are being threatened![51.60] | فَوَيْل ٌ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ يَوْمِهِمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ |
