Ĥā-Mīm Hم M'ïm.[44.1] حَا-مِيم
Wa A l-Kitā bi A l-Mubī ni We swear by the Glorious Book[44.2] وَالْكِتَا بِ ا لْمُبِي نِ
'Inn ā 'An zalnā hu Fī Laylatin Mubārakatin 'Inn ā Kunn ā Mun dh ir ī na that We revealed this Qur’an in a blessed night (Layla-tul Qadr); for We wanted to forewarn mankind.[44.3] إِنَّ ا أَن زَلْنَا هُُفِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا مُن ذِر ِي نَ
Fīhā Yufraqu Kullu 'Am r in Ĥakī min In that night every matter is decided wisely[44.4] فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِي مٍ
'Am rāan Min `In dinā 'Inn ā Kunn ā Mursilī na by a command from Ourself. Surely We send it (The Qur'an) down,[44.5] أَمْراً مِنْ عِنْ دِنَا إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا مُرْسِلِي نَ
Raĥmatan Min Rabbika 'Inn ahu Huwa A s-Samī `u A l-`Alī mu as a blessing from your Rabb; it is He Who is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.[44.6] رَحْمَةً مِن ْ رَبِّكَ إِنَّ هُُهُوَ ا ل سَّمِي عُ ا لْعَلِي مُ
Rabbi A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā 'In Kun tum Mūqinī na The Rabb of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, mark this, if you are true believers![44.7] رَبِّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن ْ كُنْ تُم ْ مُوقِنِي نَ
Lā 'Ilā ha 'Illā Huwa Yuĥyī Wa Yumī tu Rabbukum Wa Rabbu 'Ā bā 'ikumu A l-'Awwalī na There is no god but Him. He gives life and death. He is your Rabb and the Rabb of your forefathers.[44.8] لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِي تُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Bal Hum Fī Sh akkin Yal`abū na Yet they play about in doubt.[44.9] بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُو نَ
Fārtaqib Yawma Ta'tī A s-Samā 'u Bidukh ā nin Mubī nin Well! Wait for the Day when the sky will pour down visible smoke.[44.10] فَارْتَقِب ْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي ا ل سَّمَا ءُ بِدُخَا نٍ مُبِي نٍ
Yagh sh á A n -Nā sa Hādh ā `Adh ā bun 'Alī mun Enveloping all mankind; this will be a painful punishment.[44.11] يَغْشَى ا ل نّ َا سَ هَذَا عَذَا بٌ أَلِي مٌ
Rabbanā A ksh if `Ann ā A l-`Adh ā ba 'Inn ā Mu'uminū na Then the mankind will say: “Our Rabb! Remove from us this punishment, surely we have become real believers."[44.12] رَبَّنَا ا كْشِفْ عَنَّ ا ا لْعَذَا بَ إِنَّ ا مُؤْمِنُو نَ
'Ann á Lahumu A dh -Dh ikrá Wa Qad Jā 'ahum Rasū lun Mubī nun But how can the acceptance of Our Message at that time be beneficial to them? A Rasool (Muhammad), who makes the things clear, has already come to them[44.13] أَنَّ ى لَهُمُ ا ل ذِّكْرَى وَقَد ْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُو لٌ مُبِي نٌ
Th umm a Tawallaw `Anhu Wa Qālū Mu`allamun Maj nū nun yet they deny him, saying: “He is a madman, taught by others!”[44.14] ثُمّ َ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْ نُو نٌ
'Inn ā Kāsh ifū A l-`Adh ā bi Qalīlāan 'Inn akum `Ā 'idū na We shall remove the affliction (famine from which they were suffering) for a while, but you will revert to the same old ways.[44.15] إِنَّ ا كَا شِفُوا ا لْعَذَا بِ قَلِيلاً إِنَّ كُمْ عَائِدُو نَ
Yawma Nab ţish u A l-Baţ sh ata A l-Kub rá 'Inn ā Mun taqimū na One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught to exact Our retribution.[44.16] يَوْمَ نَبْ طِشُ ا لْبَطْ شَةَ ا لْكُبْ رَى إِنَّ ا مُن تَقِمُو نَ
Wa Laqad Fatann ā Qab lahum Qawma Fir `awna Wa Jā 'ahum Rasū lun Kar ī mun Before them We had put the people of Fir'on (Pharaoh) to the same test, when an honorable Rasool came to them,[44.17] وَلَقَد ْ فَتَنَّ ا قَبْ لَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُو لٌ كَر ِي مٌ
'An 'Addū 'Ilayya `Ibā da A l-Lahi 'Inn ī Lakum Rasū lun 'Amī nun saying: “Hand over to me the servants of Allah. I am to you a Rasool worthy of all trust.[44.18] أَنْ أَدُّو ا إِلَيَّ عِبَا دَ ا ل لَّهِ إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ رَسُو لٌ أَمِي نٌ
Wa 'An Lā Ta`lū `Alá A l-Lahi 'Inn ī 'Ā tīkum Bisulţā nin Mubī nin Do not hold yourselves above Allah, surely I have brought to you a clear authority.[44.19] وَأَن ْ لاَ تَعْلُوا عَلَى ا ل لَّهِ إِنِّ ي آتِيكُم ْ بِسُلْطَا نٍ مُبِي نٍ
Wa 'Inn ī `Udh tu Birabbī Wa Rabbikum 'An Tarjumū ni I have taken refuge with my Rabb and your Rabb against you injuring me.[44.20] وَإِنِّ ي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن ْ تَرْجُمُو نِ
Wa 'In Lam Tu'uminū Lī Fā`tazilū ni If you do not believe me, then leave me alone."[44.21] وَإِن ْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَا عْتَزِلُو نِ
Fada`ā Rabbahu 'Ann a Hā 'uulā ' Qawmun Muj r imū na But they became aggressive, so Musa prayed to his Rabb: “These are indeed a criminal people."[44.22] فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ~ ُ أَنّ َ هَاؤُلاَء قَوْمٌ مُجْ ر ِمُو نَ
Fa'asr i Bi`ibādī Laylāan 'Inn akum Muttaba`ū na The reply came: “Set forth with My servants (Israelites) at night, surely you shall be pursued.[44.23] فَأَسْر ِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلاً إِنَّ كُم ْ مُتَّبَعُو نَ
Wa A truki A l-Baĥra Rahwan 'Inn ahum Jun dun Mugh raqū na When you have crossed the red sea along with your people miraculously, then leave the sea divided; for they are a host who are destined to be drowned."[44.24] وَاتْرُكِ ا لْبَحْرَ رَهْواً إِنَّ هُمْ جُن دٌ مُغْرَقُو نَ
Kam Tarakū Min Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin How many gardens and springs they left behind![44.25] كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِن ْ جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُو نٍ
Wa Zurū `in Wa Maqā min Kar ī min And agriculture and grand palaces![44.26] وَزُرُو عٍ وَمَقَا مٍ كَر ِي مٍ
Wa Na`matin Kānū Fīhā Fākihī na And means of luxury and comfort which they used to enjoy![44.27] وَنَعْمَةٍ كَا نُوا فِيهَا فَا كِهِي نَ
Kadh ālika Wa 'Awrath nāhā Qawmāan 'Ā kh ar ī na Thus was their end! And We let other people inherit what was once theirs.[44.28] كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْماً آخَر ِي نَ
Famā Bakat `Alayhimu A s-Samā 'u Wa A l-'Arđu Wa Mā Kānū Mun žar ī na Neither Heaven nor earth sheds tears for them; nor were they given a respite.[44.29] فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ا ل سَّمَا ءُ وَالأَرْضُ وَمَا كَا نُوا مُن ظَر ِي نَ
Wa Laqad Najjaynā Banī 'Isrā 'ī la Mina A l-`Adh ā bi A l-Muhī ni We did deliver the Children of Israel from a humiliating chastisement[44.30] وَلَقَد ْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِي لَ مِنَ ا لْعَذَا بِ ا لْمُهِي نِ
Min Fir `awna 'Inn ahu Kā na `Ālīāan Mina A l-Musr ifī na inflicted by Fir'on who was the most arrogant among such inordinate transgressors,[44.31] مِن ْ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ عَال ِي اً مِنَ ا لْمُسْر ِفِي نَ
Wa Laqadi A kh tarnāhum `Alá `Ilmin `Alá A l-`Ālamī na and We chose them, in spite of knowing their weaknesses above the nations of the world.[44.32] وَلَقَدِ ا خْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عَلَى ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Wa 'Ā taynāhum Mina A l-'Ā yā ti Mā Fī hi Balā 'un Mubī nun We showed them signs in which there was a clear trial.[44.33] وَآتَيْنَاهُم ْ مِنَ ا لآيَا تِ مَا فِي هِِ بَلاَءٌ مُبِي نٌ
'Inn a Hā 'uulā ' Layaqūlū na As to these (people of Qureysh) who say:[44.34] إِنّ َ هَاؤُلاَء لَيَقُولُو نَ
'In Hiya 'Illā Mawtatunā A l-'Ū lá Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimun sh ar ī na “There is nothing beyond our first death and we shall not be raised again.[44.35] إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ مَوْتَتُنَا ا لأُ ولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُن شَر ِي نَ
Fa'tū Bi'ā bā 'inā 'In Kun tum Şādiqī na Bring back our forefathers if you are truthful."[44.36] فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن ْ كُن تُمْ صَادِقِي نَ
'Ahum Kh ayrun 'Am Qawmu Tubba`in Wa A l-Ladh ī na Min Qab lihim 'Ahlaknāhum 'Inn ahum Kānū Muj r imī na Are these people better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them all only because they had become criminals.[44.37] أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِي نَ مِن ْ قَبْ لِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّ هُمْ كَا نُوا مُجْ ر ِمِي نَ
Wa Mā Kh alaq nā A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā Lā`ibī na It was not for a sport that We created the heavens the earth and all that lies between them.[44.38] وَمَا خَلَقْ نَا ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لاَعِبِي نَ
Mā Kh alaq nāhumā 'Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Lakinn a 'Akth arahum Lā Ya`lamū na We have created them to reveal the truth, but most of them do not understand.[44.39] مَا خَلَقْ نَاهُمَا إِلاَّ بِا لْحَقِّ وَلَكِنّ َ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُو نَ
'Inn a Yawma A l-Faşli Mīqātuhum 'Aj ma`ī na Surely the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for the resurrection of them all.[44.40] إِنّ َ يَوْمَ ا لْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْ مَعِي نَ
Yawma Lā Yugh nī Mawláan `An Mawláan Sh ay'ā an Wa Lā Hum Yun şarū na On that Day no one shall be able to protect his friend, nor shall they receive any help[44.41] يَوْمَ لاَ يُغْنِي مَوْلىً عَن ْ مَوْلىً شَيْئاً وَلاَ هُمْ يُن صَرُو نَ
'Illā Man Raĥima A l-Lahu 'Inn ahu Huwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu except those to whom Allah will show His Mercy: for it is He Who is the All-Mighty, the All Merciful.[44.42] إِلاَّ مَن ْ رَحِمَ ا ل لَّهُ إِنَّ هُُهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
'Inn a Sh ajarata A z-Zaqqū mi Surely the Zaqqum tree[44.43] إِنّ َ شَجَرَةَ ا ل زَّقُّو مِ
Ţa`ā mu A l-'Ath ī mi shall be the food of the sinners,[44.44] طَعَا مُ ا لأَثِي مِ
Kālmuhli Yagh lī Fī A l-Buţū ni it will be like the dregs of oil. Which shall boil in the belly[44.45] كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي ا لْبُطُو نِ
Kagh alyi A l-Ĥamī mi like the boiling of scalding water.[44.46] كَغَلْيِ ا لْحَمِي مِ
Kh udh ū hu Fā`tilū hu 'Ilá Sawā 'i A l-Jaĥī mi A voice will be heard: “Seize him and drag him into the depth of the hell,[44.47] خُذُو هُُفَا عْتِلُو هُ~ ُ إِلَى سَوَا ءِ ا لْجَحِي مِ
Th umm a Şubbū Fawqa Ra'sihi Min `Adh ā bi A l-Ĥamī mi then pour scalding water over his head,[44.48] ثُمّ َ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِِ مِنْ عَذَا بِ ا لْحَمِي مِ
Dh uq 'Inn aka 'An ta A l-`Azī zu A l-Kar ī mu then the voice will say: “Taste it; you were such a powerful noble![44.49] ذُق ْ إِنَّ كَ أَنْ تَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا لْكَر ِي مُ
'Inn a Hādh ā Mā Kun tum Bihi Tam tarū na This is the punishment which you use to doubt."[44.50] إِنّ َ هَذَا مَا كُن تُم ْ بِهِِ تَمْتَرُو نَ
'Inn a A l-Muttaqī na Fī Maqā min 'Amī nin As for the righteous, they will be in a secure place;[44.51] إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِي نَ فِي مَقَا مٍ أَمِي نٍ
Fī Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin among gardens and springs,[44.52] فِي جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُو نٍ
Yalbasū na Min Sun dusin Wa 'Istab raqin Mutaqābilī na dressed in fine silk and rich brocade, sitting face to face.[44.53] يَلْبَسُو نَ مِن ْ سُن دُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْ رَقٍ مُتَقَابِلِي نَ
Kadh ālika Wa Zawwaj nāhum Biĥū r in `Ī nin Such shall be their place! And We shall wed them to Hourin-Ayn (damsels with beautiful big and lustrous eyes).[44.54] كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْ نَاهُم ْ بِحُو رٍ عِي نٍ
Yad `ū na Fīhā Bikulli Fākihatin 'Ā minī na There, in full peace, they shall call for every kind of fruit;[44.55] يَد ْعُو نَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَا كِهَةٍ آمِنِي نَ
Lā Yadh ūqū na Fīhā A l-Mawta 'Illā A l-Mawtata A l-'Ū lá Wa Waqāhum `Adh ā ba A l-Jaĥī mi and after having prior death in the world, they shall taste death no more; and He (Allah) will protect them from the torment of hell[44.56] لاَ يَذُوقُو نَ فِيهَا ا لْمَوْتَ إِلاَّ ا لْمَوْتَةَ ا لأُ ولَى وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَا بَ ا لْجَحِي مِ
Fađlāan Min Rabbika Dh ālika Huwa A l-Fawzu A l-`Ažī mu as a grace from your Rabb, and that will be the supreme achievement.[44.57] فَضْلاً مِن ْ رَبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ ا لْفَوْزُ ا لْعَظِي مُ
Fa'inn amā Yassarnā hu Bilisānika La`allahum Yatadh akkarū na Surely We have made this Qur’an easy by revealing in your own language so that they may take heed.[44.58] فَإِنَّ مَا يَسَّرْنَا هُُبِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُو نَ
Fārtaqib 'Inn ahum Murtaqibū na If they do not accept the admonition then wait; surely they too are waiting.[44.59] فَارْتَقِب ْ إِنَّ هُم ْ مُرْتَقِبُو نَ
