Ĥā-Mīm Hم M'ïm.[43.1] حَا-مِيم
Wa A l-Kitā bi A l-Mubī ni By the Glorious Book.[43.2] وَالْكِتَا بِ ا لْمُبِي نِ
'Inn ā Ja`alnā hu Qur'ā nāan `Arabīyāan La`allakum Ta`qilū na We have revealed this Qur’an in the Arabic language so that you may understand its meanings.[43.3] إِنَّ ا جَعَلْنَا هُُقُرْآن اً عَرَبِيّاً لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُو نَ
Wa 'Inn ahu Fī 'Umm i A l-Kitā bi Ladaynā La`alī yun Ĥakī mun Surely, it is a transcript of the Mother Book in Our keeping, which is sublime and full of wisdom.[43.4] وَإِنَّ هُُفِي أُمّ ِ ا لْكِتَا بِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِي مٌ
'Afanađr ibu `An kumu A dh -Dh ikra Şafĥāan 'An Kun tum Qawmāan Musr ifī na Should We take this Reminder away from you and ignore you because you are a nation who has transgressed all limits?[43.5] أَفَنَضْر ِبُ عَن كُمُ ا ل ذِّكْرَ صَفْحاً أَن ْ كُن تُمْ قَوْماً مُسْر ِفِي نَ
Wa Kam 'Arsalnā Min Nabī yin Fī A l-'Awwalī na And how many Prophets have We sent among the ancient peoples?[43.6] وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ نَبِيٍّ فِي ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Wa Mā Ya'tīhim Min Nabī yin 'Illā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ū n Never did it happen that a Prophet came to his people and they did not mock at him.[43.7] وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم ْ مِن ْ نَبِيٍّ إِلاَّ كَا نُوا بِهِِ يَسْتَهْزِئُ ون
Fa'ahlaknā 'Ash adda Minhum Baţ sh āan Wa Mađá Math alu A l-'Awwalī na So We destroyed them, though they were stronger in power than these people, and provided an example in the case of prior people.[43.8] فَأَهْلَكْنَا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم ْ بَطْ شاً وَمَضَى مَثَلُ ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Kh alaqa A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa Layaqūlunn a Kh alaqahunn a A l-`Azī zu A l-`Alī mu If you ask them: “Who has created the heavens and the earth?” They will surely say: “They have been created by the All-Mighty, the All-Knowledgeable.”[43.9] وَلَئِن ْ سَأَلْتَهُم ْ مَنْ خَلَقَ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنّ َ خَلَقَهُنّ َ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا لْعَلِي مُ
Al-Ladh ī Ja`ala Lakumu A l-'Arđa Mahdāan Wa Ja`ala Lakum Fīhā Subulāan La`allakum Tahtadū na The One Who has made the earth a resting place for you and traced out routes upon it so that you may find your ways.[43.10] ا لَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ا لأَرْضَ مَهْداً وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلاً لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُو نَ
Wa A l-Ladh ī Nazzala Mina A s-Samā 'i Mā 'an Biqadar in Fa'an sh arnā Bihi Baldatan Maytāan Kadh ālika Tukh rajū na The One Who sends down rain from the sky in due measure and thereby resurrects a dead land - that’s how you shall be brought forth (raised to life again).[43.11] وَا لَّذِي نَزَّلَ مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ مَا ءً بِقَدَرٍ فَأَن شَرْنَا بِهِِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتاً كَذَلِكَ تُخْرَجُو نَ
Wa A l-Ladh ī Kh alaqa A l-'Azwā ja Kullahā Wa Ja`ala Lakum Mina A l-Fulki Wa A l-'An`ām Mā Tarkabū na The One Who has created all living things in pairs and made for you the ships and cattle on which you ride[43.12] وَا لَّذِي خَلَقَ ا لأَزْوَا جَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم ْ مِنَ ا لْفُلْكِ وَالأَنعَام مَا تَرْكَبُو نَ
Litastawū `Alá Žuhūr ihi Th umm a Tadh kurū Ni`mata Rabbikum 'Idh ā A stawaytum `Alayhi Wa Taqūlū Sub ĥā na A l-Ladh ī Sakh kh ara Lanā Hādh ā Wa Mā Kunn ā Lahu Muq r inī na so that you may firmly sit on their backs, then as you mount, recall the goodness of your Rabb and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected these to Our use, otherwise We could not have brought them under our control,[43.13] لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَى ظُهُور ِهِِ ثُمّ َ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا ا سْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا سُبْ حانَ ا لَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّ ا لَهُُمُقْ ر ِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn ā 'Ilá Rabbinā Lamun qalibū na and to our Rabb we shall all return.”[43.14] وَإِنَّ ا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُن قَلِبُو نَ
Wa Ja`alū Lahu Min `Ibādihi Juz'ā an 'Inn a A l-'In sā na Lakafū run Mubī nun Yet in spite of recognizing all this, they have made some of His servants to be a part of Him! Surely mankind is clearly ungrateful.[43.15] وَجَعَلُوا لَهُُمِنْ عِبَادِهِِ جُزْءاً إِنّ َ ا لإِن سَا نَ لَكَفُو رٌ مُبِي نٌ
'Am A ttakh adh a Mimm ā Yakh luqu Banā tin Wa 'Aşfākum Bil-Banī na Would Allah choose daughters (pagan Arabs believed that angels were the daughters of Allah) for Himself out of what He Himself creates and gives you sons?[43.16] أَمْ ا تَّخَذَ مِمَّ ا يَخْلُقُ بَنَا تٍ وَأَصْفَاكُم ْ بِا لْبَنِي نَ
Wa 'Idh ā Bush sh ir a 'Aĥaduhum Bimā Đaraba Lilrraĥmani Math alāan Žalla Waj huhu Muswaddāan Wa Huwa Kažī mun Yet when a new born-girl - the gender that they ascribe to the Compassionate - is announced to one of them, his face darkens and he is filled with grief.[43.17] وَإِذَا بُشِّر َ أَحَدُهُم ْ بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ مَثَلاً ظَلَّ وَجْ هُهُُمُسْوَدّاً وَهُوَ كَظِي مٌ
'Awaman Yunash sh a'u Fī A l-Ĥilyati Wa Huwa Fī A l-Kh işā mi Gh ayru Mubī nin Do they ascribe to Allah, the female gender who is brought up among trinkets and is unable to make herself clear in disputation?[43.18] أَوَمَن ْ يُنَشَّأُ فِي ا لْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي ا لْخِصَا مِ غَيْرُ مُبِي نٍ
Wa Ja`alū A l-Malā 'ikata A l-Ladh ī na Hum `Ibā du A r-Raĥmā ni 'Ināth āan 'Ash ahidū Kh alqahum Satuktabu Sh ahādatuhum Wa Yus'alū na They regard the angels, who are themselves servants of the Compassionate, as female divinities. Did they witness their creation? They should know that their testimony shall be noted down and they shall be called to account for it.[43.19] وَجَعَلُوا ا لْمَلاَئِكَةَ ا لَّذِي نَ هُمْ عِبَا دُ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ إِنَاثاً أَشَهِدُوا خَلْقَهُمْ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْأَلُو نَ
Wa Qālū Law Sh ā 'a A r-Raĥmā nu Mā `Abad nāhum Mā Lahum Bidh ālika Min `Ilmin 'In Hum 'Illā Yakh ruşū na They say: “Had it been the will of the Compassionate, We should never have worshipped them." They have no knowledge about that; they are merely guessing.[43.20] وَقَالُوا لَوْ شَا ءَ ا ل رَّحْمَنُ مَا عَبَد ْنَاهُم ْ مَا لَهُم ْ بِذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلاَّ يَخْرُصُو نَ
'Am 'Ā taynāhum Kitābāan Min Qab lihi Fahum Bihi Mustam sikū na Or have We given them a Book before this to which they hold authority for their angel-worshipping?[43.21] أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَاباً مِن ْ قَبْ لِهِِ فَهُم ْ بِهِِ مُسْتَمْسِكُو نَ
Bal Qālū 'Inn ā Wajad nā 'Ā bā 'anā `Alá 'Umm atin Wa 'Inn ā `Alá 'Ā th ār ihim Muhtadū na The only argument they have is to say: “We found our forefathers practicing this faith and we are walking in their footsteps."[43.22] بَلْ قَالُ و ا إِنَّ ا وَجَد ْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَى أُمَّ ةٍ وَإِنَّ ا عَلَى آثَار ِهِم ْ مُهْتَدُو نَ
Wa Kadh alika Mā 'Arsalnā Min Qab lika Fī Qaryatin Min Nadh ī r in 'Illā Qā la Mutrafūhā 'Inn ā Wajad nā 'Ā bā 'anā `Alá 'Umm atin Wa 'Inn ā `Alá 'Ā th ār ihim Muq tadū na Even so, whenever We sent a Warner before you to forewarn a nation, its affluent people said: “We found our forefathers practicing this faith and surely we are going to follow their footsteps."[43.23] وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ قَبْ لِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِن ْ نَذِي رٍ إِلاَّ قَا لَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّ ا وَجَد ْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَى أُمَّ ةٍ وَإِنَّ ا عَلَى آثَار ِهِم ْ مُقْ تَدُو نَ
Qā la 'Awalaw Ji'tukum Bi'ahdá Mimm ā Wajad tum `Alayhi 'Ā bā 'akum Qālū 'Inn ā Bimā 'Ursiltum Bihi Kāfirū na Each Warner asked: “What if I bring you better guidance than that which your forefathers practiced?” But they replied: “Well! We reject the faith with which you have been sent."[43.24] قَا لَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم ْ بِأَهْدَى مِمَّ ا وَجَد ْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَكُمْ قَالُ و ا إِنَّ ا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم ْ بِهِِ كَا فِرُو نَ
Fān taqam nā Minhum Fān žur Kayfa Kā na `Āqibatu A l-Mukadh dh ibī na Consequently, We inflicted Our retribution on them; then see what was the end of those who disbelieved?[43.25] فَان تَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَا ن ظُرْ كَيْفَ كَا نَ عَاقِبَةُ ا لْمُكَذِّبِي نَ
Wa 'Idh Qā la 'Ib rāhī mu Li'abī hi Wa Qawmihi 'Inn anī Barā 'un Mimm ā Ta`budū na Behold! Ibrمhïm said to his father and his people: “I renounce the gods you worship,[43.26] وَإِذْ قَا لَ إِبْ رَاهِي مُ لِأَبِي هِِ وَقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ نِي بَرَا ءٌ مِمَّ ا تَعْبُدُو نَ
'Illā A l-Ladh ī Faţaranī Fa'inn ahu Sayahdī ni except Him Who created me, for He will surely guide me."[43.27] إِلاَّ ا لَّذِي فَطَرَنِي فَإِنَّ هُُسَيَهْدِي نِ
Wa Ja`alahā Kalimatan Bāqiyatan Fī `Aqibihi La`allahum Yarji`ū na And he left this statement as an abiding precept among his descendants, so that they should turn to it.[43.28] وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةً بَاقِيَةً فِي عَقِبِهِِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُو نَ
Bal Matta`tu Hā 'uulā ' Wa 'Ā bā 'ahum Ĥattá Jā 'ahumu A l-Ĥaqqu Wa Rasū lun Mubī nun But they started worshipping others, and rather than punishing I kept on providing them and their forefathers the comfort of this life, until there came to them the truth and a Rasool to expound it clearly.[43.29] بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَاؤُلاَء وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّى جَاءَهُمُ ا لْحَقُّ وَرَسُو لٌ مُبِي نٌ
Wa Lamm ā Jā 'ahumu A l-Ĥaqqu Qālū Hādh ā Siĥrun Wa 'Inn ā Bihi Kāfirū na But now when the truth has came to them, they say: “This is magic and we do not believe it.”[43.30] وَلَمَّ ا جَاءَهُمُ ا لْحَقُّ قَالُ وا هَذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّ ا بِهِِ كَا فِرُو نَ
Wa Qālū Lawlā Nuzzila Hādh ā A l-Qur'ā nu `Alá Rajulin Mina A l-Qaryatayni `Ažī min They also say: “Why is this Qur’an not revealed to a man of great importance in the two towns (Makkah and Ta'if)”?[43.31] وَقَالُوا لَوْلاَ نُزِّلَ هَذَا ا لْقُرْآنُ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ ا لْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِي مٍ
'Ahum Yaq simū na Raĥmata Rabbika Naĥnu Qasam nā Baynahum Ma`īsh atahum Fī A l-Ĥayāati A d-Dun yā Wa Rafa`nā Ba`đahum Fawqa Ba`đin Darajā tin Liyattakh idh a Ba`đuhum Ba`đāan Sukh r īyāan Wa Raĥmatu Rabbika Kh ayrun Mimm ā Yaj ma`ū na Is it they who distribute the blessings of your Rabb? It is We Who distribute the means of their livelihood in the life of this world, raising some in rank above others, so that one may take others into his service. But the blessing of your Rabb is far greater in value than the wealth of this world which they amass.[43.32] أَهُمْ يَقْ سِمُو نَ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّكَ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم ْ مَعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي ا لْحَيَا ةِ ا ل دُّنْ يَا وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَا تٍ لِيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم ْ بَعْضاً سُخْر ِيّاً وَرَحْمَةُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّ ا يَجْ مَعُو نَ
Wa Lawlā 'An Yakū na A n -Nā su 'Umm atan Wāĥidatan Laja`alnā Liman Yakfuru Bir -Raĥmani Libuyūtihim Suqufāan Min Fađđatin Wa Ma`ār ija `Alayhā Yažharū na And were it not that all mankind might become one nation of unbelievers, We would have given those who disbelieve in the Compassionate (Allah), such houses whose roofs, stairways by which they go to upper chambers all made with silver,[43.33] وَلَوْلاَ أَن ْ يَكُو نَ ا ل نّ َا سُ أُمَّ ةً وَاحِدَة ً لَجَعَلْنَا لِمَن ْ يَكْفُرُ بِا ل رَّحْمَنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفاً مِن ْ فَضَّةٍ وَمَعَار ِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُو نَ
Wa Libuyūtihim 'Ab wābāan Wa Sururāan `Alayhā Yattaki'ū na and also the doors of their houses and couches on which they recline,[43.34] وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْ وَاباً وَسُرُراً عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِئُو نَ
Wa Zukh rufāan Wa 'In Kullu Dh ālika Lamm ā Matā `u A l-Ĥayāati A d-Dun yā Wa A l-'Ā kh iratu `In da Rabbika Lilmuttaqī na along with ornaments of gold - for all these are nothing but merely comforts of this worldly life. It is the life of the hereafter which your Rabb has reserved for the righteous.[43.35] وَزُخْرُفاً وَإِن ْ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ لَمَّ ا مَتَا عُ ا لْحَيَا ةِ ا ل دُّنْ يَا وَالآخِرَةُ عِنْ دَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِي نَ
Wa Man Ya`sh u `An Dh ikr i A r-Raĥmā ni Nuqayyiđ Lahu Sh ayţānāan Fahuwa Lahu Qar ī nun He who turns away from the remembrance (Reminder) of the Compassionate (Allah), We assign a shaitمn for him, who becomes his intimate companion.[43.36] وَمَن ْ يَعْشُ عَن ْ ذِكْر ِ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُُشَيْطَان اً فَهُوَ لَهُُقَر ِي نٌ
Wa 'Inn ahum Layaşuddūnahum `Ani A s-Sabī li Wa Yaĥsabū na 'Ann ahum Muhtadū na - and turns such people away from the Right Path, while they think that they are guided aright.[43.37] وَإِنَّ هُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ا ل سَّبِي لِ وَيَحْسَبُو نَ أَنَّ هُم ْ مُهْتَدُو نَ
Ĥattá 'Idh ā Jā 'anā Qā la Yā Layta Baynī Wa Baynaka Bu`da A l-Mash r iqayni Fabi'sa A l-Qar ī nu - Ultimately, when that person will come to Us on the Day of Judgment, he will say to his shaitمn companion: “I wish that I was far apart from you as the east is from the west: you turned out to be an evil companion."[43.38] حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَنَا قَا لَ يَالَ يْتَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ ا لْمَشْر ِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ ا لْقَر ِي نُ
Wa Lan Yan fa`akumu A l-Yawma 'Idh Žalam tum 'Ann akum Fī A l-`Adh ā bi Mush tar ikū na Then it will be said to them: “Well, you have already done wrong, realizing this fact today will avail you nothing, as you both are partners in the same punishment.[43.39] وَلَن ْ يَن فَعَكُمُ ا لْيَوْمَ إِذْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنَّ كُمْ فِي ا لْعَذَا بِ مُشْتَر ِكُو نَ
'Afa'an ta Tusmi`u A ş-Şumm a 'Aw Tahdī A l-`Um ya Wa Man Kā na Fī Đalā lin Mubī nin O Prophet, can you make the deaf hear, or give direction to the blind or those who choose to remain in manifest error?[43.40] أَفَأَنْ تَ تُسْمِعُ ا ل صُّمّ َ أَوْ تَهْدِي ا لْعُمْيَ وَمَن ْ كَا نَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ مُبِي نٍ
Fa'imm ā Nadh /habann a Bika Fa'inn ā Minhum Mun taqimū na We shall surely inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from this world,[43.41] فَإِمَّ ا نَذْهَبَنّ َ بِكَ فَإِنَّ ا مِنْهُم ْ مُنْ تَقِمُو نَ
'Aw Nur iyann aka A l-Ladh ī Wa`ad nāhum Fa'inn ā `Alayhim Muq tadirū na or let you see their end, which We have promised them: surely We have full power over them.[43.42] أَوْ نُر ِيَنَّ كَ ا لَّذِي وَعَد ْنَاهُمْ فَإِنَّ ا عَلَيْهِم ْ مُقْ تَدِرُو نَ
Fāstam sik Bial-Ladh ī 'Ū ĥiya 'Ilayka 'Inn aka `Alá Şirāţin Mustaqī min Therefore, hold fast to this Qur’an which is revealed to you, surely you are on the Right Way.[43.43] فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِا لَّذِي أُ وحِيَ إِلَيْكَ إِنَّ كَ عَلَى صِرَا طٍ مُسْتَقِي مٍ
Wa 'Inn ahu Ladh ikrun Laka Wa Liqawmika Wa Sawfa Tus'alū na In fact this Qur’an is a reminder for you and your people; and you shall soon be questioned about it.[43.44] وَإِنَّ هُُلَذِكْرٌ لَكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ وَسَوْفَ تُسْأَلُو نَ
Wa A s'al Man 'Arsalnā Min Qab lika Min Rusulinā 'Aja`alnā Min Dū ni A r-Raĥmā ni 'Ā lihatan Yu`badū na Ask those of Our Rasools whom We sent before you if We ever appointed other gods to be worshipped besides the Compassionate Allah?[43.45] وَاسْأَلْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ قَبْ لِكَ مِن ْ رُسُلِنَا أَجَعَلْنَا مِن ْ دُو نِ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ آلِهَةً يُعْبَدُو نَ
Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Mūsá Bi'ā yātinā 'Ilá Fir `awna Wa Mala'ihi Faqā la 'Inn ī Rasū lu Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na We sent Musa with Our signs to Fir‘on and his chiefs. He said to them: “I am a Rasool of the Rabb of the worlds.”[43.46] وَلَقَد ْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِِ فَقَا لَ إِنِّ ي رَسُو لُ رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Falamm ā Jā 'ahum Bi'ā yātinā 'Idh ā Hum Minhā Yađĥakū na When he showed them Our signs, they laughed at those signs.[43.47] فَلَمَّ ا جَاءَهُم ْ بِآيَاتِنَا إِذَا هُم ْ مِنْهَا يَضْحَكُو نَ
Wa Mā Nur īhim Min 'Ā yatin 'Illā Hiya 'Akbaru Min 'Ukh tihā Wa 'Akh adh nāhum Bil-`Adh ā bi La`allahum Yarji`ū na Yet We showed them sign after sign each greater than the one preceding it and We afflicted them with the scourge, so that they might return to the Right Way.[43.48] وَمَا نُر ِيهِم ْ مِن ْ آيَةٍ إِلاَّ هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا وَأَخَذْنَاهُم ْ بِا لْعَذَا بِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُو نَ
Wa Qālū Yā 'Ayyuhā A s-Sāĥir u A d `u Lanā Rabbaka Bimā `Ahida `In daka 'Inn anā Lamuhtadūn Each time they were seized by a scourge, they requested Musa: “O magician! Pray to your Rabb for us by virtue of the covenant He has made with you; we shall surely accept your guidance."[43.49] وَقَالُوا يَاأَيُّهَا ا ل سَّاحِر ُا د ْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِنْ دَكَ إِنَّ نَا لَمُهْتَدُون
Falamm ā Kash afnā `Anhumu A l-`Adh ā ba 'Idh ā Hum Yan kuth ū na But each time We lifted the scourge from them, they broke their pledge.[43.50] فَلَمَّ ا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ ا لْعَذَا بَ إِذَا هُمْ يَن كُثُو نَ
Wa Nādá Fir `awnu Fī Qawmihi Qā la Yā Qawmi 'Alaysa Lī Mulku Mişra Wa Hadh ihi A l-'Anhā ru Taj r ī Min Taĥtī 'Afalā Tub şirū na One day Fir'on made a proclamation among his people: “O my people! Is not the kingdom of Egypt mine? Are not these rivers flowing beneath me? Can you not see?[43.51] وَنَادَى فِرْعَوْنُ فِي قَوْمِهِِ قَا لَ يَاقَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِي مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَذِهِ ا لأَنْهَا رُ تَجْ ر ِي مِن ْ تَحْتِي أَفَلاَ تُبْ صِرُو نَ
'Am 'Anā Kh ayrun Min Hādh ā A l-Ladh ī Huwa Mahī nun Wa Lā Yakā du Yubī nu Am I not better than this despicable wretch, who can hardly express himself clearly?[43.52] أَمْ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ هَذَا ا لَّذِي هُوَ مَهِي نٌ وَلاَ يَكَا دُ يُبِي نُ
Falawlā 'Ulqiya `Alayhi 'Aswiratun Min Dh ahabin 'Aw Jā 'a Ma`ahu A l-Malā 'ikatu Muq tar inī na If he is really a Rasool then Why have no gold bracelets been given to him, or angels sent down to accompany him?”[43.53] فَلَوْلاَ أُلْقِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَسْوِرَةٌ مِن ْ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَا ءَ مَعَهُ ا لْمَلاَئِكَةُ مُقْ تَر ِنِي نَ
Fāstakh affa Qawmahu Fa'aţā`ū hu 'Inn ahum Kānū Qawmāan Fāsiqī na Thus did he incite his people and they obeyed him; surely they were a nation of transgressors.[43.54] فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُُفَأَطَاعُو هُ~ ُ إِنَّ هُمْ كَا نُوا قَوْماً فَا سِقِي نَ
Falamm ā 'Ā safūnā A n taqam nā Minhum Fa'agh raq nāhum 'Aj ma`ī na At last when they provoked Us, We inflicted retribution on them and drowned them all,[43.55] فَلَمَّ ا آسَفُونَا ا ن تَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْ نَاهُمْ أَجْ مَعِي نَ
Faja`alnāhum Salafāan Wa Math alāan Lil'ā kh ir ī na and made them a lesson and an example for the later generations.[43.56] فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفاً وَمَثَلاً لِلآخِر ِي نَ
Wa Lamm ā Đur iba A b nu Maryama Math alāan 'Idh ā Qawmuka Minhu Yaşiddū na When Maryam’s son Isa (Jesus) is quoted as an example, your people raise a clamor at it,[43.57] وَلَمَّ ا ضُر ِبَ ا بْ نُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلاً إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّو نَ
Wa Qālū 'A'ā lihatunā Kh ayrun 'Am Huwa Mā Đarabū hu Laka 'Illā Jadalāan Bal Hum Qawmun Kh aşimū na and say: "Are Our gods better or is he?" They cite this to you merely to provoke you. They are but a quarrelsome people.[43.58] وَقَالُو ا أَآلِهَتُنَا خَيْرٌ أَمْ هُوَ مَا ضَرَبُو هُُلَكَ إِلاَّ جَدَلاً بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُو نَ
'In Huwa 'Illā `Ab dun 'An`am nā `Alayhi Wa Ja`alnā hu Math alāan Libanī 'Isrā 'ī la He (Jesus) was no more than a mortal whom We favored and made an example to the Children of Israel.[43.59] إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ عَبْ دٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَا هُُمَثَلاً لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِي لَ
Wa Law Nash ā 'u Laja`alnā Min kum Malā 'ikatan Fī A l-'Arđi Yakh lufū na Had it been Our will, We could create angels from you to succeed you in the earth.[43.60] وَلَوْ نَشَا ءُ لَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ كُم ْ مَلاَئِكَةً فِي ا لأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُو نَ
Wa 'Inn ahu La`ilmun Lilssā`ati Falā Tam tarunn a Bihā Wa A ttabi`ūnī Hādh ā Şirāţun Mustaqī mun He (Jesus) is, in fact, a sign for the coming of the Hour of Doom. Therefore, have no doubt about its coming, follow me; this is the Right Way.[43.61] وَإِنَّ هُُلَعِلْم ٌ لِلسَّاعَةِ فَلاَ تَمْتَرُنّ َ بِهَا وَاتَّبِعُونِي هَذَا صِرَا طٌ مُسْتَقِي مٌ
Wa Lā Yaşuddann akumu A sh -Sh ayţā nu 'Inn ahu Lakum `Adū wun Mubī nun Let not shaitمn mislead you, for he is your open enemy.[43.62] وَلاَ يَصُدَّنَّ كُمُ ا ل شَّيْطَا نُ إِنَّ هُُلَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِي نٌ
Wa Lamm ā Jā 'a `Īsá Bil-Bayyinā ti Qā la Qad Ji'tukum Bil-Ĥikmati Wa Li'abayyina Lakum Ba`đa A l-Ladh ī Takh talifū na Fī hi Fa A ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni When Isa (Jesus) came with clear signs, he stated: “I have brought you wisdom, and to clarify some of those things about which you have disputes: so fear Allah and obey me.[43.63] وَلَمَّ ا جَا ءَ عِيسَى بِا لْبَيِّنَا تِ قَا لَ قَد ْ جِئْتُكُم ْ بِا لْحِكْمَةِ وَلِأَبَيِّنَ لَكُم ْ بَعْضَ ا لَّذِي تَخْتَلِفُو نَ فِي هِِ فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
'Inn a A l-Laha Huwa Rabbī Wa Rabbukum Fā`budū hu Hādh ā Şirāţun Mustaqī mun Surely it is Allah Who is my Rabb and your Rabb, so worship Him. This is the Right Way."[43.64] إِنّ َ ا ل لَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَا عْبُدُو هُُهَذَا صِرَا طٌ مُسْتَقِي مٌ
Fākh talafa A l-'Aĥzā bu Min Baynihim Fawaylun Lilladh ī na Žalamū Min `Adh ā bi Yawmin 'Alī min In spite of these teachings, the factions disagreed among themselves; so woe to the wrongdoers from the punishment of a painful Day.[43.65] فَاخْتَلَفَ ا لأَحْزَا بُ مِن ْ بَيْنِهِمْ فَوَيْل ٌ لِلَّذِي نَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْ عَذَا بِ يَوْمٍ أَلِي مٍ
Hal Yan žurū na 'Illā A s-Sā`ata 'An Ta'tiyahum Bagh tatan Wa Hum Lā Yash `urū na Are they waiting for the Hour of Doom that it should come on them all of a sudden, without warning?[43.66] هَلْ يَن ظُرُو نَ إِلاَّ ا ل سَّاعَةَ أَن ْ تَأْتِيَهُم ْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُو نَ
Al-'Akh illā 'u Yawma'idh in Ba`đuhum Liba`đin `Adū wun 'Illā A l-Muttaqī na On that Day, even friends will become enemies to one another with the exception of the righteous people.[43.67] ا لأَخِلاَّءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلاَّ ا لْمُتَّقِي نَ
Yā `Ibā di Lā Kh awfun `Alaykumu A l-Yawma Wa Lā 'An tum Taĥzanū na “O My devotees! Today you have nothing to fear or to regret,”[43.68] يَاعِبَا دِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ا لْيَوْمَ وَلاَ أَنْ تُمْ تَحْزَنُو نَ
Al-Ladh ī na 'Ā manū Bi'ā yātinā Wa Kānū Muslimī na it will be said to those who believed in Our revelations and became Muslims,[43.69] ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا مُسْلِمِي نَ
A d kh ulū A l-Jann ata 'An tum Wa 'Azwājukum Tuĥbarū na “Enter paradise, you and your spouses; you will be made happy."[43.70] ا د ْخُلُوا ا لْجَنَّ ةَ أَنْ تُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُو نَ
Yuţā fu `Alayhim Bişiĥā fin Min Dh ahabin Wa 'Akwā bin Wa Fīhā Mā Tash tahī hi A l-'An fusu Wa Taladh dh u A l-'A`yunu Wa 'An tum Fīhā Kh ālidū na There they shall be served with golden dishes and golden goblets, and they shall have everything that their souls can desire and all that their eyes can delight in - and it will be said to them: “Now you shall abide therein forever.[43.71] يُطَا فُ عَلَيْهِم ْ بِصِحَا فٍ مِن ْ ذَهَبٍ وَأَكْوَا بٍ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي هِ ا لأَن فُسُ وَتَلَذُّ ا لأَعْيُنُ وَأَنْ تُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُو نَ
Wa Tilka A l-Jann atu A llatī 'Ū r ith tumūhā Bimā Kun tum Ta`malū na You have inherited this paradise by virtue of your good deeds.[43.72] وَتِلْكَ ا لْجَنَّ ةُ ا لَّتِي أُ ور ِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُن تُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ
Lakum Fīhā Fākihatun Kath īratun Minhā Ta'kulū na therein you shall have plenty of fruit to eat."[43.73] لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَا كِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِنْهَا تَأْكُلُو نَ
'Inn a A l-Muj r imī na Fī `Adh ā bi Jahann ama Kh ālidūn But the criminals will abide in the punishment of hell.[43.74] إِنّ َ ا لْمُجْ ر ِمِي نَ فِي عَذَا بِ جَهَنَّ مَ خَالِدُون
Lā Yufattaru `Anhum Wa Hum Fī hi Mub lisū na Their punishment will never be lightened, and they shall remain in despair therein.[43.75] لاَ يُفَتَّرُ عَنْهُمْ وَهُمْ فِي هِِ مُبْ لِسُو نَ
Wa Mā Žalam nāhum Wa Lakin Kānū Humu A ž-Žālimī na We did not wrong them, but it is they who wronged themselves.[43.76] وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِن ْ كَا نُوا هُمُ ا ل ظَّالِمِي نَ
Wa Nādaw Yā Māliku Liyaq đi `Alaynā Rabbuka Qā la 'Inn akum Mākith ū na They will cry: “O Mمlik (the keeper of hell)! Let your Rabb put and end to us." But he will answer: “Nay! You are going to live forever."[43.77] وَنَادَوْا يَامَالِكُ لِيَقْ ضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَ قَا لَ إِنَّ كُم ْ مَاكِثُو نَ
Laqad Ji'nākum Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Lakinn a 'Akth arakum Lilĥaqqi Kār ihū na We have brought you the truth, but most of you hate the truth.[43.78] لَقَد ْ جِئْنَاكُم ْ بِا لْحَقِّ وَلَكِنّ َ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَا ر ِهُو نَ
'Am 'Ab ramū 'Am rāan Fa'inn ā Mub r imū na If they have devised a plan to ruin you (O Muhammad), then surely We too shall devise a plan to ruin them.[43.79] أَمْ أَبْ رَمُو ا أَمْراً فَإِنَّ ا مُبْ ر ِمُو نَ
'Am Yaĥsabū na 'Ann ā Lā Nasma`u Sir rahum Wa Naj wāhum Balá Wa Rusulunā Ladayhim Yaktubū na Do they think that We cannot hear their secret talks and their private conversation? Of course We do, and Our messengers (angels) who are assigned to them, record it all.[43.80] أَمْ يَحْسَبُو نَ أَنَّ ا لاَ نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْ وَاهُم ْ بَلَى وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُو نَ
Qul 'In Kā na Lilrraĥmani Waladun Fa'anā 'Awwalu A l-`Ābidī na O Prophet tell the Christians: “If the Compassionate (Allah) had a son, I would be the first to worship him.”[43.81] قُلْ إِن ْ كَا نَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ ا لْعَابِدِي نَ
Sub ĥā na Rabbi A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Rabbi A l-`Arsh i `Amm ā Yaşifū na Glory be to the Rabb of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne, He is above what they ascribe to Him.[43.82] سُبْ حَا نَ رَبِّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضِ رَبِّ ا لْعَرْشِ عَمَّ ا يَصِفُو نَ
Fadh arhum Yakh ūđū Wa Yal`abū Ĥattá Yulāqū Yawmahumu A l-Ladh ī Yū`adū na So let them blunder and play until they face their Day, which has been promised to them.[43.83] فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلاَقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ ا لَّذِي يُوعَدُو نَ
Wa Huwa A l-Ladh ī Fī A s-Samā 'i 'Ilahun Wa Fī A l-'Arđi 'Ilahun Wa Huwa A l-Ĥakī mu A l-`Alī mu It is He (Allah) Who is God in the heavens and God on earth; He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowledgeable.[43.84] وَهُوَ ا لَّذِي فِي ا ل سَّمَا ءِ إِلَه ٌ ٌ وَفِي ا لأَرْضِ إِلَه ٌ ٌ وَهُوَ ا لْحَكِي مُ ا لْعَلِي مُ
Wa Tabāraka A l-Ladh ī Lahu Mulku A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā Wa `In dahu `Ilmu A s-Sā`ati Wa 'Ilayhi Turja`ū na Blessed is He Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them! He Alone has the knowledge of the Hour of Doom, and to Him you shall all be brought back.[43.85] وَتَبَارَكَ ا لَّذِي لَهُُمُلْكُ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَعِنْ دَهُُعِلْمُ ا ل سَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُو نَ
Wa Lā Yam liku A l-Ladh ī na Yad `ū na Min Dūnihi A sh -Sh afā`ata 'Illā Man Sh ahida Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Hum Ya`lamū na And those to whom they invoke besides Him, have no power to intercede for them except those who testify to the truth by virtue of knowledge.[43.86] وَلاَ يَمْلِكُ ا لَّذِي نَ يَد ْعُو نَ مِن ْ دُونِهِ ا ل شَّفَاعَةَ إِلاَّ مَن ْ شَهِدَ بِا لْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُو نَ
Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Kh alaqahum Layaqūlunn a A l-Lahu Fa'ann á Yu'ufakū na If you ask them Who created them, they will certainly say: "Allah." How then are they deluded away from the truth?[43.87] وَلَئِن ْ سَأَلْتَهُم ْ مَنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنّ َ ا ل لَّهُ فَأَنَّ ى يُؤْفَكُو نَ
Wa Qīlihi Yā Rabbi 'Inn a Hā 'uulā ' Qawmun Lā Yu'uminū na Allah has heard the Prophet’s cry: “O Rabb! Surely these are a people who would not believe."[43.88] وَقِيلِهِِ يَارَبِّ إِنّ َ هَاؤُلاَء قَوْم ٌ لاَ يُؤْمِنُو نَ
Fāşfaĥ `Anhum Wa Qul Salā mun Fasawfa Ya`lamū na Therefore, O Prophet! Bear with them and wish them peace. They shall soon come to know the truth.[43.89] فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلاَمٌ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُو نَ
