Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Al-Mubīni These are the verses of the Glorious Book that makes the things clear.[28.2] تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
Natlū `Alayka Min Naba'i Mūsá Wa Fir`awna Bil-Ĥaqqi Liqawmin Yu'uminūna In all truth, We narrate to you some information about Musa (Moses) and Fir'on (Pharaoh) for the instruction of the believers.[28.3] نَتْلُو عَلَيْكَ مِنْ نَبَإِ مُوسَى وَفِرْعَوْنَ بِالْحَقِّ لِقَوْم ٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
'Inna Fir`awna `Alā Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Ja`ala 'Ahlahā Shiya`āan Yastađ`ifu Ţā'ifatan Minhum Yudhabbiĥu 'Abnā'ahum Wa Yastaĥyī Nisā'ahum 'Innahu Kāna Mina Al-Mufsidīna The fact is that Fir'on elevated himself in the land and divided its residents into groups, one group of which he persecuted, putting their sons to death and sparing only their females. Indeed he was one of the mischief-makers.[28.4] إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلاَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعا ً يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَائِفَة ً مِنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ إِنَّه ُُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
Wa Nurīdu 'An Namunna `Alá Al-Ladhīna Astuđ`ifū Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Naj`alahum 'A'immatan Wa Naj`alahumu Al-Wārithīna But We wanted to favor those who were oppressed in the land, and make them leaders, and make them the heirs,[28.5] وَنُرِيدُ أَنْ نَمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّة ً وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِينَ
Wa Numakkina Lahum Al-'Arđi Wa Nuriya Fir`awna Wa Hāmāna Wa Junūdahumā Minhum Mā Kānū Yaĥdharūna establish them in the land, and show Fir'on, Hamمn and their warriors at their hands the same which they feared.[28.6] وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ وَنُرِيَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا مِنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَحْذَرُونَ
Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilá 'Ummi Mūsá 'An 'Arđi`īhi Fa'idhā Khifti `Alayhi Fa'alqīhi Fī Al-Yammi Wa Lā Takhāfī Wa Lā Taĥzanī 'Innā Rāddūhu 'Ilayki Wa Jā`ilūhu Mina Al-Mursalīna So We revealed Our will to the mother of Musa: “Suckle him, and when you feel any danger to his life, cast him into the river without any fear or grief; for We shall certainly restore him to you and make him one of Our Rasools."[28.7] وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى أُمِّ مُوسَى أَنْ أَرْضِعِيه ِِ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيه ِِ فِي الْيَمِّ وَلاَ تَخَافِي وَلاَ تَحْزَنِي إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ~ُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوه ُُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Fāltaqaţahu 'Ālu Fir`awna Liyakūna Lahum `Adūwāan Wa Ĥazanāan 'Inna Fir`awna Wa Hāmāna Wa Junūdahumā Kānū Khāţi'īna We made Fir'on’s family pick him up from the river: it was intended that Musa may become their adversary and a cause of their sorrow; for Fir'on, Hamمn and their warriors were all sinners.[28.8] فَالْتَقَطَهُ آلُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوّا ً وَحَزَنا ً إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا كَانُوا خَاطِئِينَ
Wa Qālat Amra'atu Fir`awna Qurratu `Aynin Lī Wa Laka Lā Taqtulūhu `Asá 'An Yanfa`anā 'Aw Nattakhidhahu Waladāan Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna The wife of Fir'on said: “This child may become the comfort of the eyes for me and for you. Do not kill him. He may prove useful to us or it may be that we will adopt him as our son." They were unaware of the result of what they were doing.[28.9] وَقَالَتْ امْرَأَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّةُ عَيْن ٍ لِي وَلَكَ لاَ تَقْتُلُوه ُُ عَسَى أَنْ يَنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَه ُُ وَلَدا ً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ
Wa 'Aşbaĥa Fu'uādu 'Ummi Mūsá Fārighāan 'In Kādat Latubdī Bihi Lawlā 'An Rabaţnā `Alá Qalbihā Litakūna Mina Al-Mu'uminīna On the other hand, the heart of Musa’s mother was sorely troubled. She would have disclosed as to who he was, had We not strengthened her heart so that she might become one of the true believers.[28.10] وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَى فَارِغا ً إِنْ كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِه ِِ لَوْلاَ أَنْ رَبَطْنَا عَلَى قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Qālat Li'khtihi Quşşīhi Fabaşurat Bihi `An Junubin Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna She said to Musa’s sister: “Go, and follow him." So she (Musa's sister) watched him from a distance in such a way that the others did not notice it.[28.11] وَقَالَتْ لِأخْتِه ِِ قُصِّيه ِِ فَبَصُرَتْ بِه ِِ عَنْ جُنُب ٍ وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ
Wa Ĥarramnā `Alayhi Al-Marāđi`a Min Qablu Faqālat Hal 'Adullukum `Alá 'Ahli Baytin Yakfulūnahu Lakum Wa Hum Lahu Nāşiĥūna We had already ordained that he would refuse to suck any foster mother. His sister came to Fir'on's wife and said: “Shall I point out to you a house whose people will take care of him for you and they will be sincere to him?”[28.12] وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَرَاضِعَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْت ٍ يَكْفُلُونَه ُُ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَه ُُ نَاصِحُونَ
Faradadnāhu 'Ilá 'Ummihi Kay Taqarra `Aynuhā Wa Lā Taĥzana Wa Lita`lama 'Anna Wa`da Al-Lahi Ĥaqqun Wa Lakinna 'Aktharahum Lā Ya`lamūna Thus did We restore him to his mother that her eye might be comforted, that she might not grieve and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true. Yet most of the people do not understand.[28.13] فَرَدَدْنَاهُ~ُ إِلَى أُمِّه ِِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلاَ تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقّ ٌ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Lammā Balagha 'Ashuddahu Wa Astawá 'Ātaynāhu Ĥukmāan Wa `Ilmāan Wa Kadhalika Naj Al-Muĥsinīna When he reached maturity and became full-grown, We bestowed on him wisdom and knowledge. Thus do We reward the righteous.[28.14] وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّه ُُ وَاسْتَوَى آتَيْنَاه ُُ حُكْما ً وَعِلْما ً وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Wa Dakhala Al-Madīnata `Alá Ĥīni Ghaflatin Min 'Ahlihā Fawajada Fīhā Rajulayni Yaqtatilāni Hādhā Min Shī`atihi Wa Hadhā Min `Adūwihi Fāstaghāthahu Al-Ladhī Min Shī`atihi `Alá Al-Ladhī Min `Adūwihi Fawakazahu Mūsá Faqađá `Alayhi Qāla Hādhā Min `Amali Ash-Shayţāni 'Innahu `Adūwun Muđillun Mubīnun One day he entered the city at a time when its people were not yet active, he found two men reaching to each others throats; one was from his own race and the other of his foes. The man of his own race appealed for his help against his foe, whereupon Musa gave his foe a blow which killed him. On seeing what he has done he said: “This is the work of Shaitمn, surely he is an enemy that openly misleads."[28.15] وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ عَلَى حِينِ غَفْلَة ٍ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلاَنِ هَذَا مِنْ شِيعَتِه ِِ وَهَذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّه ِِ فَاسْتَغَاثَهُ الَّذِي مِنْ شِيعَتِه ِِ عَلَى الَّذِي مِنْ عَدُوِّه ِِ فَوَكَزَه ُُ مُوسَى فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ هَذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّه ُُ عَدُوّ ٌ مُضِلّ ٌ مُبِين ٌ
Qāla Rabbi 'Innī Žalamtu Nafsī Fāghfir Lī Faghafara Lahu 'Innahu Huwa Al-Ghafūru Ar-Raĥīmu Then he prayed: “O my Rabb! I have indeed wronged my soul, please forgive me." So Allah forgave him, surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.[28.16] قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُ~ُ إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Qāla Rabbi Bimā 'An`amta `Alayya Falan 'Akūna Žahīrāan Lilmujrimīna Musa promised: “O my Rabb! After this favor that You have bestowed on me, I shall never be a helping hand to the criminals."[28.17] قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلَنْ أَكُونَ ظَهِيرا ً لِلْمُجْرِمِينَ
Fa'aşbaĥa Fī Al-Madīnati Khā'ifāan Yataraqqabu Fa'idhā Al-Ladhī Astanşarahu Bil-'Amsi Yastaşrikhuhu Qāla Lahu Mūsá 'Innaka Laghawīyun Mubīnun Next morning as he was walking in the city in fear and caution, suddenly he saw the same man whom he had helped the day before cried out to him again for help. Musa replied: “You are certainly a misguided person."[28.18] فَأَصْبَحَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ خَائِفا ً يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي اسْتَنصَرَه ُُ بِالأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُه ُُ قَالَ لَه ُُ مُوسَى إِنَّكَ لَغَوِيّ ٌ مُبِين ٌ

Do you intend to kill me as you killed a person yesterday? You only want to become a tyrant in the land and have no intention of reforming anything."[28.19] فَلَمَّا أَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَبْطِشَ بِالَّذِي هُوَ عَدُوّ ٌ لَهُمَا قَالَ يَامُوسَى أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تَقْتُلَنِي كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسا ً بِالأَمْسِ إِنْ تُرِيدُ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَكُونَ جَبَّارا ً فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ

Fakharaja Minhā Khā'ifāan Yataraqqabu Qāla Rabbi Najjinī Mina Al-Qawmi Až-Žālimīna Hearing this, Musa left that place in fear and caution, praying: “O my Rabb! Deliver me from the nation of wrongdoers."[28.21] فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَائِفا ً يَتَرَقَّبُ قَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
