Ţā-Sīn -Mīm Tuم Sïn M'ïm.[26.1] طَا-سِين -مِيم
Tilka 'Ā yā tu A l-Kitā bi A l-Mubī ni These are verses of the Glorious Book.[26.2] تِلْكَ آيَا تُ ا لْكِتَا بِ ا لْمُبِي نِ
La`allaka Bākh i`un Nafsaka 'Allā Yakūnū Mu'uminī na O Muhammad, you will perhaps fret yourself to death with grief because they do not believe.[26.3] لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَفْسَكَ أَلاَّ يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِي نَ
'In Nash a' Nunazzil `Alayhim Mina A s-Samā 'i 'Ā yatan Fažallat 'A`nāquhum Lahā Kh āđi`ī na If We wanted, We could send down upon them a sign from the heaven before which they would bend their necks in submission, but that is not what We want.[26.4] إِن ْ نَشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم ْ مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِي نَ
Wa Mā Ya'tīhim Min Dh ikr in Mina A r-Raĥmā ni Muĥdath in 'Illā Kānū `Anhu Mu`r iđī na They have been turning their backs on each fresh warning that comes to them from the Compassionate (Allah).[26.5] وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم ْ مِن ْ ذِكْرٍ مِنَ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلاَّ كَا نُوا عَنْهُ مُعْر ِضِي نَ
Faqad Kadh dh abū Fasaya'tīhim 'An bā 'u Mā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ū n But now that they have neglected the warning, they will soon come to know the reality of what they have been mocking at.[26.6] فَقَد ْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنْ بَا ءُ مَا كَا نُوا بِهِِ يَسْتَهْزِئُ ون
'Awalam Yaraw 'Ilá A l-'Arđi Kam 'An batnā Fīhā Min Kulli Zawjin Kar ī min Have they not looked at the earth to see how We have caused all kinds of noble pairs to grow in it?[26.7] أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى ا لأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنْ بَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن ْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَر ِي مٍ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na Surely in this there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe.[26.8] إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu In fact your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.9] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Wa 'Idh Nādá Rabbuka Mūsá 'Ani A 'ti A l-Qawma A ž-Žālimī na Remind them of the story when your Rabb called Musa (Moses) and said: “Go to the wicked people[26.10] وَإِذْ نَادَى رَبُّكَ مُوسَى أَنِ ا ئْتِ ا لْقَوْمَ ا ل ظَّالِمِي نَ
Qawma Fir `awna 'Alā Yattaqū na the people of Fir'on (Pharaoh). Have they no fear?”[26.11] قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَلاَ يَتَّقُو نَ
Qā la Rabbi 'Inn ī 'Akh ā fu 'An Yukadh dh ibū ni Musa submitted, saying: “My Rabb! I fear that they will reject me.[26.12] قَا لَ رَبِّ إِنِّ ي أَخَا فُ أَن ْ يُكَذِّبُو نِ
Wa Yađī qu Şad r ī Wa Lā Yan ţaliqu Lisānī Fa'arsil 'Ilá Hārū na My breast feels cramped and my tongue is not eloquent; send Haroon (Aaron).[26.13] وَيَضِي قُ صَد ْر ِي وَلاَ يَنْ طَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَى هَارُو نَ
Wa Lahum `Alayya Dh an bun Fa'akh ā fu 'An Yaq tulū ni They have a charge of manslaughter against me and I fear they may put me to death.”[26.14] وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنْ بٌ فَأَخَا فُ أَن ْ يَقْ تُلُو نِ
Qā la Kallā Fādh /habā Bi'ā yātinā 'Inn ā Ma`akum Mustami`ū na Allah said: “Indeed not! Proceed, both of you, with Our signs; surely We are with you, listening.[26.15] قَا لَ كَلاَّ فَا ذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا إِنَّ ا مَعَكُم ْ مُسْتَمِعُو نَ
Fa'tiyā Fir `awna Faqūlā 'Inn ā Rasū lu Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na Go to Fir'on and tell him: "We are the Rasools from the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.16] فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولاَ إِنَّ ا رَسُو لُ رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
'An 'Arsil Ma`anā Banī 'Isrā 'ī la You should send with us the Children of Israel."[26.17] أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِي لَ
Qā la 'Alam Nurabbika Fīnā Walīdāan Wa Labith ta Fīnā Min `Umur ika Sinī na When they went to Fir'on and conveyed the Message of Allah, he said: “Did we not cherish you when you were a child? Did you not stay several years of your life among us?[26.18] قَا لَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيداً وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُر ِكَ سِنِي نَ
Wa Fa`alta Fa`lataka A llatī Fa`alta Wa 'An ta Mina A l-Kāfir ī na Then you did what you did; you are so ungrateful!”[26.19] وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ا لَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنْ تَ مِنَ ا لْكَافِر ِي نَ
Qā la Fa`altuhā 'Idh āan Wa 'Anā Mina A đ-Đā llīn Musa replied: “I did that when I was a misguided youth.[26.20] قَا لَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذاً وَأَنَا مِنَ ا ل ضَّا لِّين
Fafarartu Min kum Lamm ā Kh iftukum Fawahaba Lī Rabbī Ĥukmāan Wa Ja`alanī Mina A l-Mursalī na I fled from you all because I feared you; but now my Rabb has granted me wisdom and appointed me as one of His Rasools.[26.21] فَفَرَرْتُ مِنْ كُمْ لَمَّ ا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْماً وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ ا لْمُرْسَلِي نَ
Wa Tilka Ni`matun Tamunn uhā `Alayya 'An `Abbad ta Banī 'Isrā 'ī la Is it a favor with which you taunt me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?”[26.22] وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّ هَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّد ْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِي لَ
Qā la Fir `awnu Wa Mā Rabbu A l-`Ālamī na Fir'on said: “Who is this Rabb of the Worlds?”[26.23] قَا لَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Qā la Rabbu A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā 'In Kun tum Mūqinī na Musa replied: “He is the Rabb of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you really care to believe.”[26.24] قَا لَ رَبُّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إن ْ كُن تُم ْ مُوقِنِي نَ
Qā la Liman Ĥawlahu 'Alā Tastami`ū na Fir'on said to those around him, “Do you hear that?”[26.25] قَا لَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ~ ُ أَلاَ تَسْتَمِعُو نَ
Qā la Rabbukum Wa Rabbu 'Ā bā 'ikumu A l-'Awwalī na Musa continued: “He is your Rabb and the Rabb of your forefathers."[26.26] قَا لَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Qā la 'Inn a Rasūlakumu A l-Ladh ī 'Ursila 'Ilaykum Lamaj nū nun Fir'on interjected: “This Rasool of yours, who has been sent to you, is crazy.”[26.27] قَا لَ إِنّ َ رَسُولَكُمُ ا لَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْ نُو نٌ
Qā la Rabbu A l-Mash r iqi Wa A l-Magh r ibi Wa Mā Baynahumā 'In Kun tum Ta`qilū na Musa continued:“ He is the Rabb of the east and west, and all that lies between them. If you would only care and try to understand." [26.28] قَا لَ رَبُّ ا لْمَشْر ِقِ وَالْمَغْر ِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن ْ كُنْ تُمْ تَعْقِلُو نَ
Qā la La'ini A ttakh adh ta 'Ilahāan Gh ayr ī La'aj `alann aka Mina A l-Masjūnī na At this, Fir'on, who did not want to listen any more said: “If you serve any other god besides me, I shall have you thrown into prison."[26.29] قَا لَ لَئِنِ ا تَّخَذْتَ إِلَهَاً غَيْر ِي لَأَجْ عَلَنَّ كَ مِنَ ا لْمَسْجُونِي نَ
Qā la 'Awalaw Ji'tuka Bish ay'in Mubī nin At this, Musa said: “What if I show you a convincing sign?”[26.30] قَا لَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُبِي نٍ
Qā la Fa'ti Bihi 'In Kun ta Mina A ş-Şādiqī na Fir'on said: “Go ahead, show it if you are of the truthful."[26.31] قَا لَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن ْ كُنْ تَ مِنَ ا ل صَّادِقِي نَ
Fa'alqá `Aşā hu Fa'idh ā Hiya Th u`bā nun Mubī nun Hearing this, Musa threw down his staff, and thereupon it changed into a veritable serpent.[26.32] فَأَلْقَى عَصَا هُُفَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَا نٌ مُبِي نٌ
Wa Naza`a Yadahu Fa'idh ā Hiya Bayđā 'u Lilnn āžir ī na Then he drew forth his hand and it became shining bright for the spectators.[26.33] وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُُفَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَا ءُ لِلنَّ اظِر ِي نَ
Qā la Lilmala'i Ĥawlahu 'Inn a Hādh ā Lasāĥir un `Alī mun After witnessing both the miracles, Fir'on (Pharaoh) said to the chiefs around him: “This fellow is certainly a skilled magician,[26.34] قَا لَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ~ ُ إِنّ َ هَذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِي مٌ
Yur ī du 'An Yukh r ijakum Min 'Arđikum Bisiĥr ihi Famādh ā Ta'murū na who seeks to drive you out from your land by the force of his magic. Now what is your advice?”[26.35] يُر ِي دُ أَن ْ يُخْر ِجَكُم ْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُم ْ بِسِحْر ِهِِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُو نَ
Qālū 'Arjihi Wa 'Akh ā hu Wa A b `ath Fī A l-Madā 'ini Ĥāsh ir ī na They submitted: “Put him and his brother off for a while, and dispatch heralds to the various cities[26.36] قَالُو ا أَرْجِهِِ وَأَخَا هُُوَابْ عَثْ فِي ا لْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِر ِي نَ
Ya'tū ka Bikulli Saĥĥā r in `Alī min to bring you every skilled magician."[26.37] يَأْتُو كَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّا رٍ عَلِي مٍ
Fajumi`a A s-Saĥaratu Limīqā ti Yawmin Ma`lū min So the magicians were brought together at the appointed time on a fixed day.[26.38] فَجُمِعَ ا ل سَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَا تِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُو مٍ
Wa Qī la Lilnn ā si Hal 'An tum Muj tami`ū na The people were motivated through saying: “Would you come to the gathering?[26.39] وَقِي لَ لِلنّ َا سِ هَلْ أَنْ تُم ْ مُجْ تَمِعُو نَ
La`allanā Nattabi`u A s-Saĥarata 'In Kānū Humu A l-Gh ālibī na So that we may follow the magicians if they are dominant.”[26.40] لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ا ل سَّحَرَةَ إِن ْ كَا نُوا هُمُ ا لْغَالِبِي نَ
Falamm ā Jā 'a A s-Saĥaratu Qālū Lifir `awna 'A'inn a Lanā La'aj rāan 'In Kunn ā Naĥnu A l-Gh ālibī na When the magicians arrived, they asked Fir'on: “Shall we get a reward if we are dominant?”[26.41] فَلَمَّ ا جَا ءَ ا ل سَّحَرَةُ قَالُ وا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنّ َ لَنَا لَأَجْ راً إِن ْ كُنَّ ا نَحْنُ ا لْغَالِبِي نَ
Qā la Na`am Wa 'Inn akum 'Idh āan Lamina A l-Muqarrabī na Fir'on replied: “Yes of course! You will even be made my courtiers."[26.42] قَا لَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّ كُمْ إِذاً لَمِنَ ا لْمُقَرَّبِي نَ
Qā la Lahum Mūsá 'Alqū Mā 'An tum Mulqū na Musa said to them: “Cast down what you are going to cast."[26.43] قَا لَ لَهُم ْ مُوسَى أَلْقُوا مَا أَنْ تُم ْ مُلْقُو نَ
Fa'alqaw Ĥibālahum Wa `Işīyahum Wa Qālū Bi`izzati Fir `awna 'Inn ā Lanaĥnu A l-Gh ālibū na Thereupon they cast down their ropes and staffs, saying: “By the glory of Fir'on, we shall be the winners."[26.44] فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ ا لَنَحْنُ ا لْغَالِبُو نَ
Fa'alqá Mūsá `Aşā hu Fa'idh ā Hiya Talqafu Mā Ya'fikū na Then Musa threw down his staff, and lo! It swallowed their false devices.[26.45] فَأَلْقَى مُوسَى عَصَا هُُفَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُو نَ
Fa'ulqiya A s-Saĥaratu Sājidī na At this, all the magicians prostrated themselves,[26.46] فَأُلْقِيَ ا ل سَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِي نَ
Qālū 'Ā mann ā Birabbi A l-`Ālamī na saying: “We believe in the Rabb of the Worlds,[26.47] قَالُو ا آمَنَّ ا بِرَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Rabbi Mūsá Wa Hārū na the Rabb of Musa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron)."[26.48] رَبِّ مُوسَى وَهَارُو نَ
Qā la 'Ā man tum Lahu Qab la 'An 'Ā dh ana Lakum 'Inn ahu Lakabīrukumu A l-Ladh ī `Allamakumu A s-Siĥra Falasawfa Ta`lamū na La'uqaţţi`ann a 'Aydiyakum Wa 'Arjulakum Min Kh ilā fin Wa La'uşallibann akum 'Aj ma`ī na Fir'on shouted: “How dare you believe in him before I give you permission? He must be your master who taught you the witchcraft. But soon you shall find out. I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides and crucify you all."[26.49] قَا لَ آمَنْ تُمْ لَهُُقَبْ لَ أَن ْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّ هُُلَكَبِيرُكُمُ ا لَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ ا ل سِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُو نَ لَأُقَطِّعَنّ َ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم ْ مِنْ خِلاَفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّ كُمْ أَجْ مَعِي نَ
Qālū Lā Đayra 'Inn ā 'Ilá Rabbinā Mun qalibū na They replied: “We don’t care! We are going to return to our Rabb anyway.[26.50] قَالُوا لاَ ضَيْرَ إِنَّ ا إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنْ قَلِبُو نَ
'Inn ā Naţ ma`u 'An Yagh fir a Lanā Rabbunā Kh aţāyānā 'An Kunn ā 'Awwala A l-Mu'uminī na We only desire that our Rabb may forgive us our sins, as we are the first to believe."[26.51] إِنَّ ا نَطْ مَعُ أَن ْ يَغْفِر َ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن ْ كُنَّ ا أَوَّلَ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilá Mūsá 'An 'Asr i Bi`ibādī 'Inn akum Muttaba`ū na We revealed to Musa (Moses), saying: “Set off with my servants by night and beware that you will be pursued."[26.52] وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَسْر ِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّ كُم ْ مُتَّبَعُو نَ
Fa'arsala Fir `awnu Fī A l-Madā 'ini Ĥāsh ir ī na Fir'on (Pharaoh) sent heralds to all the cities,[26.53] فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي ا لْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِر ِي نَ
'Inn a Hā 'uulā ' Lash ir dh imatun Qalīlū na and to mobilize his people he said: “These Israelites are but a handful of people,[26.54] إِنّ َ هَاؤُلاَء لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُو نَ
Wa 'Inn ahum Lanā Lagh ā 'ižū na who have provoked us much;[26.55] وَإِنَّ هُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُو نَ
Wa 'Inn ā Lajamī `un Ĥādh irū na while we have a large army, well prepared."[26.56] وَإِنَّ ا لَجَمِي عٌ حَاذِرُو نَ
Fa'akh raj nāhum Min Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin Thus did We make them leave their gardens and their water springs,[26.57] فَأَخْرَجْ نَاهُم ْ مِن ْ جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُو نٍ
Wa Kunū zin Wa Maqā min Kar ī min their treasures and sumptuous dwellings.[26.58] وَكُنُو زٍ وَمَقَا مٍ كَر ِي مٍ
Kadh ālika Wa 'Awrath nāhā Banī 'Isrā 'ī la This is how they were made to lose, while on the other hand We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.[26.59] كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِي لَ
Fa'atba`ūhum Mush r iqī na At sunrise the Egyptians pursued them.[26.60] فَأَتْبَعُوهُم ْ مُشْر ِقِي نَ
Falamm ā Tarā 'á A l-Jam `ā ni Qā la 'Aşĥā bu Mūsá 'Inn ā Lamud rakū na When the two hosts came face to face, the companions of Musa cried out: “We are surely overtaken."[26.61] فَلَمَّ ا تَرَاءَى ا لْجَمْعَا نِ قَا لَ أَصْحَا بُ مُوسَى إِنَّ ا لَمُد ْرَكُو نَ
Qā la Kallā 'Inn a Ma`iya Rabbī Sayahdī ni Musa said: “Not at all! My Rabb is with me; He will show me a way out.”[26.62] قَا لَ كَلاَّ إِنّ َ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِي نِ
Fa'awĥaynā 'Ilá Mūsá 'Ani A đr ib Bi`aşā ka A l-Baĥra Fān falaqa Fakā na Kullu Fir qin Kālţţawdi A l-`Ažī mi Then We revealed Our will to Musa: "Strike the sea with your staff," and the sea was cleft asunder, each part stood like a mighty mountain.[26.63] فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنِ ا ضْر ِب ْ بِعَصَا كَ ا لْبَحْرَ فَا ن فَلَقَ فَكَا نَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَا ل طَّوْدِ ا لْعَظِي مِ
Wa 'Azlafnā Th amm a A l-'Ā kh ar ī na We made the other party (Fir'on and his army) follow them.[26.64] وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمّ َ ا لآخَر ِي نَ
Wa 'An jaynā Mūsá Wa Man Ma`ahu 'Aj ma`ī na We delivered Musa and all who were with him;[26.65] وَأَنْ جَيْنَا مُوسَى وَمَن ْ مَعَهُ~ ُ أَجْ مَعِي نَ
Th umm a 'Agh raq nā A l-'Ā kh ar ī na and drowned the others.[26.66] ثُمّ َ أَغْرَقْ نَا ا لآخَر ِي نَ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na Surely there is a lesson in this: yet most of these people do not learn this lesson to become believers.[26.67] إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.68] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Wa A tlu `Alayhim Naba'a 'Ib rāhī ma Narrate to them the story of Ibrمhïm,[26.69] وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْ رَاهِي مَ
'Idh Qā la Li'abī hi Wa Qawmihi Mā Ta`budū na when he asked his father and his people: “What is that which you worship?”[26.70] إِذْ قَا لَ لِأَبِي هِِ وَقَوْمِهِِ مَا تَعْبُدُو نَ
Qālū Na`budu 'Aşnāmāan Fanažallu Lahā `Ākifī na They replied: “We worship idols, and sit beside them with all devotion."[26.71] قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَاماً فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِي نَ
Qā la Hal Yasma`ūnakum 'Idh Tad `ū na Ibrمhïm asked: “Do they hear you when you call on them?[26.72] قَا لَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَد ْعُو نَ
'Aw Yan fa`ūnakum 'Aw Yađurrū na Can they help you or harm you?”[26.73] أَوْ يَنْ فَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّو نَ
Qālū Bal Wajad nā 'Ā bā 'anā Kadh ālika Yaf`alū na They replied: “No! But we found our forefathers doing so."[26.74] قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَد ْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُو نَ
Qā la 'Afara'aytum Mā Kun tum Ta`budū na Ibrمhïm said: “Have you ever seen with open eyes these which you have been worshipping[26.75] قَا لَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم ْ مَا كُنْ تُمْ تَعْبُدُو نَ
'An tum Wa 'Ā bā 'uukumu A l-'Aq damū na - you and your forefathers?[26.76] أَنْ تُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ ا لأَقْ دَمُو نَ
Fa'inn ahum `Adū wun Lī 'Illā Rabba A l-`Ālamī na They are all enemies to me; except the Rabb of the Worlds,[26.77] فَإِنَّ هُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِي إِلاَّ رَبَّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Al-Ladh ī Kh alaqanī Fahuwa Yahdī ni Who created me, then He gave me guidance.[26.78] ا لَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِي نِ
Wa A l-Ladh ī Huwa Yuţ `imunī Wa Yasqī ni He is the One Who gives me food and drink,[26.79] وَا لَّذِي هُوَ يُطْ عِمُنِي وَيَسْقِي نِ
Wa 'Idh ā Mar iđtu Fahuwa Yash fī ni Who gives me health when I get sick,[26.80] وَإِذَا مَر ِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِي نِ
Wa A l-Ladh ī Yumītunī Th umm a Yuĥyī ni Who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life,[26.81] وَا لَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمّ َ يُحْيِي نِ
Wa A l-Ladh ī 'Aţ ma`u 'An Yagh fir a Lī Kh aţī 'atī Yawma A d-Dī ni Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgment."[26.82] وَا لَّذِي أَطْ مَعُ أَن ْ يَغْفِر َ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ ا ل دِّي نِ
Rabbi Hab Lī Ĥukmāan Wa 'Alĥiq nī Biş-Şāliĥī na After this, Ibrمhïm prayed: “O my Rabb! Bestow wisdom upon me and admit me among the righteous,[26.83] رَبِّ هَب ْ لِي حُكْماً وَأَلْحِقْ نِي بِا ل صَّالِحِي نَ
Wa A j `al Lī Lisā na Şid qin Fī A l-'Ā kh ir ī na grant me a reputation of truthfulness on the tongue of later generations,[26.84] وَاجْ عَل ْ لِي لِسَا نَ صِد ْقٍ فِي ا لآخِر ِي نَ
Wa A j `alnī Min Warath ati Jann ati A n -Na`ī mi count me among the inheritors of the paradise of Bliss;[26.85] وَاجْ عَلْنِي مِن ْ وَرَثَةِ جَنَّ ةِ ا ل نَّ عِي مِ
Wa A gh fir Li'abī 'Inn ahu Kā na Mina A đ-Đā llī na forgive my father, for he is from among those who have gone astray,[26.86] وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ مِنَ ا ل ضَّا لِّي نَ
Wa Lā Tukh zinī Yawma Yub `ath ū na do not hold me up in shame on the Day when everybody will be raised back to life[26.87] وَلاَ تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْ عَثُو نَ
Yawma Lā Yan fa`u Mā lun Wa Lā Banū na - the Day when neither wealth nor sons will avail anyone,[26.88] يَوْمَ لاَ يَنْ فَعُ مَا لٌ وَلاَ بَنُو نَ
'Illā Man 'Atá A l-Laha Biqalbin Salī min and when none shall be saved except him who will come before Allah with a pure heart,[26.89] إِلاَّ مَنْ أَتَى ا ل لَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِي مٍ
Wa 'Uzlifati A l-Jann atu Lilmuttaqī na when paradise shall be brought in the sight of the righteous;[26.90] وَأُزْلِفَتِ ا لْجَنَّ ةُ لِلْمُتَّقِي نَ
Wa Burr izati A l-Jaĥī mu Lilgh āwī na while hell shall be spread open to the straying[26.91] وَبُرِّزَتِ ا لْجَحِي مُ لِلْغَاوِي نَ
Wa Qī la Lahum 'Ayna Mā Kun tum Ta`budū na and they will be asked: "Now, where are those whom you worshipped[26.92] وَقِي لَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْ تُمْ تَعْبُدُو نَ
Min Dū ni A l-Lahi Hal Yan şurūnakum 'Aw Yan taşirū na besides Allah? Can they help you or even help themselves?”[26.93] مِن ْ دُو نِ ا ل لَّهِ هَلْ يَنْ صُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنْ تَصِرُو نَ
Fakub kibū Fīhā Hum Wa A l-Gh āwū na Then they will be toppled into it, both they and those who misled them,[26.94] فَكُبْ كِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُو نَ
Wa Junū du 'Ib lī sa 'Aj ma`ū na together with all the armies of Iblees,[26.95] وَجُنُو دُ إِبْ لِي سَ أَجْ مَعُو نَ
Qālū Wa Hum Fīhā Yakh taşimū na wherein they will argue with one another[26.96] قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُو نَ
Ta-Allā hi 'In Kunn ā Lafī Đalā lin Mubī nin saying: “ By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error,[26.97] تَاللَّهِ إِن ْ كُنَّ ا لَفِي ضَلاَلٍ مُبِي نٍ
'Idh Nusawwīkum Birabbi A l-`Ālamī na when we made you equals with the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.98] إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم ْ بِرَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Wa Mā 'Ađallanā 'Illā A l-Muj r imū na It was the criminals who led us astray.[26.99] وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلاَّ ا لْمُجْ ر ِمُو نَ
Famā Lanā Min Sh āfi`ī na Now we have no intercessors,[26.100] فَمَا لَنَا مِن ْ شَافِعِي نَ
Wa Lā Şadī qin Ĥamī min and no loving friends.[26.101] وَلاَ صَدِي قٍ حَمِي مٍ
Falaw 'Ann a Lanā Karratan Fanakū na Mina A l-Mu'uminī na If we could but once return to our worldly life, we would be of the true believers."[26.102] فَلَوْ أَنّ َ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُو نَ مِنَ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na Surely in this narration there is a great lesson, but most of these people do not learn a lesson to become believers.[26.103] إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.104] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Kadh dh abat Qawmu Nūĥin A l-Mursalī na The people of Nüh, also, rejected the Rasools.[26.105] كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُو حٍ ا لْمُرْسَلِي نَ
'Idh Qā la Lahum 'Akh ūhum Nūĥun 'Alā Tattaqū na Remember when their brother Nüh asked them: “Have you no fear of Allah?[26.106] إِذْ قَا لَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُو حٌ أَلاَ تَتَّقُو نَ
'Inn ī Lakum Rasū lun 'Amī nun Rest assured that I am a trustworthy Rasool of Allah towards you,[26.107] إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ رَسُو لٌ أَمِي نٌ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni so fear Allah and obey me.[26.108] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa Mā 'As'alukum `Alayhi Min 'Aj r in 'In 'Aj r ī 'Illā `Alá Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na I do not ask you for any reward for my services, for my reward will be given by the Rabb of the Worlds,[26.109] وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْ رٍ إِنْ أَجْ ر ِي إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni so fear Allah and obey me."[26.110] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Qālū 'Anu'uminu Laka Wa A ttaba`aka A l-'Ardh alū na They replied: “Should we believe in you, whereas your followers are but the lowest of the low?”[26.111] قَالُو ا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ ا لأَرْذَلُو نَ
Qā la Wa Mā `Ilmī Bimā Kānū Ya`malū na He said: “I have no knowledge as to what they have been doing;[26.112] قَا لَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَا نُوا يَعْمَلُو نَ
'In Ĥisābuhum 'Illā `Alá Rabbī Law Tash `urū na their account is the concern of my Rabb, if you could use your common sense![26.113] إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّي لَوْ تَشْعُرُو نَ
Wa Mā 'Anā Biţār idi A l-Mu'uminī na I am not going to drive away any believer.[26.114] وَمَا أَنَا بِطَار ِدِ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
'In 'Anā 'Illā Nadh ī r un Mubī nun I am nothing but a plain Warner."[26.115] إِنْ أَنَا إِلاَّ نَذِي رٌ مُبِي نٌ
Qālū La'in Lam Tan tahi Yā Nū ĥu Latakūnann a Mina A l-Marjūmī na They said: “O Nüh! If you do not stop, you shall be stoned to death."[26.116] قَالُوا لَئِن ْ لَمْ تَنْ تَهِِ يَانُو حُ لَتَكُونَنّ َ مِنَ ا لْمَرْجُومِي نَ
Qā la Rabbi 'Inn a Qawmī Kadh dh abū ni Nüh prayed: “O Rabb! My people have disobeyed me.[26.117] قَا لَ رَبِّ إِنّ َ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُو نِ
Fāftaĥ Baynī Wa Baynahum Fatĥāan Wa Najjinī Wa Man Ma`ī Mina A l-Mu'uminī na Decide the case between me and them openly. Deliver me and the believers who are with me."[26.118] فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحاً وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن ْ مَعِي مِنَ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
Fa'an jaynā hu Wa Man Ma`ahu Fī A l-Fulki A l-Mash ĥū ni So We granted his prayer, delivered him and those with him in the laden ark,[26.119] فَأَن جَيْنَا هُُوَمَن ْ مَعَهُُفِي ا لْفُلْكِ ا لْمَشْحُو نِ
Th umm a 'Agh raq nā Ba`du A l-Bāqī na and drowned the rest in the flood.[26.120] ثُمّ َ أَغْرَقْ نَا بَعْدُ ا لْبَاقِي نَ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na Surely in this story there is a great lesson, but most of these people do not learn a lesson and become believers.[26.121] إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.122] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Kadh dh abat `Ā dun A l-Mursalī na The people of 'Ad, too, disbelieved their Rasools.[26.123] كَذَّبَتْ عَا دٌ ا لْمُرْسَلِي نَ
'Idh Qā la Lahum 'Akh ūhum Hū dun 'Alā Tattaqū na Remember when their brother Hüd asked them: “Have you no fear of Allah?[26.124] إِذْ قَا لَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُو دٌ أَلاَ تَتَّقُو نَ
'Inn ī Lakum Rasū lun 'Amī nun Rest assured that I am a trustworthy Rasool of Allah towards you.[26.125] إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ رَسُو لٌ أَمِي نٌ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni So fear Allah and obey me.[26.126] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa Mā 'As'alukum `Alayhi Min 'Aj r in 'In 'Aj r ī 'Illā `Alá Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na I do not ask you any reward for my services, for my reward will be given by the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.127] وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْ رٍ إِنْ أَجْ ر ِي إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
'Atab nū na Bikulli R ī `in 'Ā yatan Ta`bath ū na Are you erecting a monument on every high place for fun?[26.128] أَتَبْ نُو نَ بِكُلِّ ر ِي عٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُو نَ
Wa Tattakh idh ū na Maşāni`a La`allakum Takh ludū na Are you building strong fortresses as if you are going to live here forever?[26.129] وَتَتَّخِذُو نَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُو نَ
Wa 'Idh ā Baţash tum Baţash tum Jabbār ī na Whenever you lay your hands on anyone, you act like cruel tyrants.[26.130] وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم ْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّار ِي نَ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni Have fear of Allah and obey me.[26.131] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa A ttaqū A l-Ladh ī 'Amaddakum Bimā Ta`lamū na Fear the One Who has given you all the things that you know.[26.132] وَا تَّقُوا ا لَّذِي أَمَدَّكُم ْ بِمَا تَعْلَمُو نَ
'Amaddakum Bi'an`ā min Wa Banī na He has given you flocks and children,[26.133] أَمَدَّكُم ْ بِأَنْعَا مٍ وَبَنِي نَ
Wa Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin gardens and fountains.[26.134] وَجَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُو نٍ
'Inn ī 'Akh ā fu `Alaykum `Adh ā ba Yawmin `Ažī min Truly I fear for you the torment of a dreadful Day."[26.135] إِنِّ ي أَخَا فُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَا بَ يَوْمٍ عَظِي مٍ
Qālū Sawā 'un `Alaynā 'Awa`ažta 'Am Lam Takun Mina A l-Wā`ižī na They replied: “It is the same to us whether you preach us or you are not one of the preachers.[26.136] قَالُوا سَوَا ءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن ْ مِنَ ا لْوَاعِظِي نَ
'In Hādh ā 'Illā Kh uluqu A l-'Awwalī na Such preaching is nothing but an ancient myth.[26.137] إِنْ هَذَا إِلاَّ خُلُقُ ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimu`adh dh abī na We are not going to be punished."[26.138] وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِي نَ
Fakadh dh abū hu Fa'ahlaknāhum 'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na So they disbelieved him and We utterly destroyed them. Surely in this story there is a great lesson, but most of these people do not learn a lesson and become believers.[26.139] فَكَذَّبُو هُُفَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.140] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Kadh dh abat Th amū du A l-Mursalī na The people of Thamüd also disbelieved their Rasools.[26.141] كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُو دُ ا لْمُرْسَلِي نَ
'Idh Qā la Lahum 'Akh ūhum Şāliĥun 'Alā Tattaqū na Remember when their brother Saleh asked them: “Have you no fear of Allah?[26.142] إِذْ قَا لَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَالِ حٌ أَلاَ تَتَّقُو نَ
'Inn ī Lakum Rasū lun 'Amī nun Rest assured that I am a trustworthy Rasool of Allah towards you.[26.143] إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ رَسُو لٌ أَمِي نٌ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni So fear Allah and obey me.[26.144] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa Mā 'As'alukum `Alayhi Min 'Aj r in 'In 'Aj r iya 'Illā `Alá Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na I do not ask you for any reward for my services, for my reward will be given by the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.145] وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْ رٍ إِنْ أَجْ ر ِيَ إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
'Atutrakū na Fī Mā Hāhunā 'Ā minī na Will you be left in peace to enjoy all that you have here forever?[26.146] أَتُتْرَكُو نَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِي نَ
Fī Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin Gardens and fountains,[26.147] فِي جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُو نٍ
Wa Zurū `in Wa Nakh lin Ţal`uhā Hađī mun cornfields and palm-trees laden with juicy fruit,[26.148] وَزُرُو عٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِي مٌ
Wa Tanĥitū na Mina A l-Jibā li Buyūtāan Fār ihī na carving your dwellings in the mountains and leading a happy life?[26.149] وَتَنْحِتُو نَ مِنَ ا لْجِبَا لِ بُيُوتاً فَا ر ِهِي نَ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni Have fear of Allah and obey me.[26.150] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa Lā Tuţī`ū 'Am ra A l-Musr ifī na Do not follow the bidding of the extravagant,[26.151] وَلاَ تُطِيعُو ا أَمْرَ ا لْمُسْر ِفِي نَ
Al-Ladh ī na Yufsidū na Fī A l-'Arđi Wa Lā Yuşliĥū na who create corruption in the land and reform nothing."[26.152] ا لَّذِي نَ يُفْسِدُو نَ فِي ا لأَرْضِ وَلاَ يُصْلِحُو نَ
Qālū 'Inn amā 'An ta Mina A l-Musaĥĥar ī na They replied: “You are but one of the bewitched![26.153] قَالُو ا إِنَّ مَا أَنْ تَ مِنَ ا لْمُسَحَّر ِي نَ
Mā 'An ta 'Illā Bash arun Mith lunā Fa'ti Bi'ā yatin 'In Kun ta Mina A ş-Şādiqī na You are no more than a human being like us. Bring forth a sign if you are one of the truthful."[26.154] مَا أَنْ تَ إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِن ْ كُنْ تَ مِنَ ا ل صَّادِقِي نَ
Qā la Hadh ihi Nāqatun Lahā Sh ir bun Wa Lakum Sh ir bu Yawmin Ma`lū min Saleh said: “Well, here is the she-camel (the sign that you asked for). She shall have her share of water as you all have yours, each drinking on an alternate appointed day.[26.155] قَا لَ هَذِهِِ نَاقَة ٌ لَهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُو مٍ
Wa Lā Tamassūhā Bisū 'in Faya'kh udh akum `Adh ā bu Yawmin `Ažī min Do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a dreadful Day may overtake you."[26.156] وَلاَ تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُو ءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَا بُ يَوْمٍ عَظِي مٍ
Fa`aqarūhā Fa'aşbaĥū Nādimī na Yet they hamstrung her, then became full of regrets;[26.157] فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِي نَ
Fa'akh adh ahumu A l-`Adh ā bu 'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na so the punishment overtook them. Surely in this story there is a great lesson, but most of these people do not learn a lesson and become believers.[26.158] فَأَخَذَهُمُ ا لْعَذَا بُ إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.159] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Kadh dh abat Qawmu Lūţin A l-Mursalī na The people of Lüt (Lot), also, disbelieved their Rasools.[26.160] كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُو طٍ ا لْمُرْسَلِي نَ
'Idh Qā la Lahum 'Akh ūhum Lūţun 'Alā Tattaqū na Remember when their brother Lüt asked them: “Have you no fear of Allah?[26.161] إِذْ قَا لَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُو طٌ أَلاَ تَتَّقُو نَ
'Inn ī Lakum Rasū lun 'Amī nun Rest assured that I am a trustworthy Rasool of Allah towards you.[26.162] إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ رَسُو لٌ أَمِي نٌ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni So fear Allah and obey me.[26.163] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa Mā 'As'alukum `Alayhi Min 'Aj r in 'In 'Aj r iya 'Illā `Alá Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na I do not ask you for any reward for my services, for my reward will be given by the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.164] وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْ رٍ إِنْ أَجْ ر ِيَ إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
'Ata'tū na A dh -Dh ukrā na Mina A l-`Ālamī na Will you fornicate with males from among the creatures of the worlds[26.165] أَتَأْتُو نَ ا ل ذُّكْرَا نَ مِنَ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Wa Tadh arū na Mā Kh alaqa Lakum Rabbukum Min 'Azwājikum Bal 'An tum Qawmun `Ādū na and leave those whom your Rabb has created for you to be your mates? Nay! You are a people who have transgressed all limits."[26.166] وَتَذَرُو نَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم ْ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُم ْ بَلْ أَنْ تُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُو نَ
Qālū La'in Lam Tan tahi Yā Lū ţu Latakūnann a Mina A l-Mukh rajī na They replied: “If you do not stop, O Lüt, you shall become one of the expelled."[26.167] قَالُوا لَئِن ْ لَمْ تَنْ تَهِِ يَا لُو طُ لَتَكُونَنّ َ مِنَ ا لْمُخْرَجِي نَ
Qā la 'Inn ī Li`amalikum Mina A l-Qālī na Lüt said: “I am certainly one of those who abhor your actions.[26.168] قَا لَ إِنِّ ي لِعَمَلِكُم ْ مِنَ ا لْقَالِي نَ
Rabbi Najjinī Wa 'Ahlī Mimm ā Ya`malū na O Rabb! Deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds."[26.169] رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّ ا يَعْمَلُو نَ
Fanajjaynā hu Wa 'Ahlahu 'Aj ma`ī na So We delivered him and all his family[26.170] فَنَجَّيْنَا هُُوَأَهْلَهُ~ ُ أَجْ مَعِي نَ
'Illā `Ajūzāan Fī A l-Gh ābir ī na except an old woman who was left among those who remained behind.[26.171] إِلاَّ عَجُوزاً فِي ا لْغَابِر ِي نَ
Th umm a Damm arnā A l-'Ā kh ar ī na Then We utterly destroyed the rest.[26.172] ثُمّ َ دَمَّ رْنَا ا لآخَر ِي نَ
Wa 'Am ţarnā `Alayhim Maţarāan Fasā 'a Maţaru A l-Mun dh ar ī na We rained down on them the rain of brimstones: and evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned.[26.173] وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم ْ مَطَراً فَسَا ءَ مَطَرُ ا لْمُن ذَر ِي نَ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na Surely in this story there is a great lesson, but most of these people do not learn a lesson and become believers.[26.174] إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.175] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Kadh dh aba 'Aşĥā bu A l-'Aykati A l-Mursalī na The people of Aiykah, also, disbelieved their Rasools.[26.176] كَذَّبَ أَصْحَا بُ ا لأَيْكَةِ ا لْمُرْسَلِي نَ
'Idh Qā la Lahum Sh u`aybun 'Alā Tattaqū na Remember Shu‘aib asked them: “Have you no fear of Allah?[26.177] إِذْ قَا لَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلاَ تَتَّقُو نَ
'Inn ī Lakum Rasū lun 'Amī nun Rest assured that I am a trustworthy Rasool of Allah towards you.[26.178] إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ رَسُو لٌ أَمِي نٌ
Fā ttaqū A l-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū ni So fear Allah and obey me.[26.179] فَا تَّقُوا ا ل لَّهَ وَأَطِيعُو نِ
Wa Mā 'As'alukum `Alayhi Min 'Aj r in 'In 'Aj r iya 'Illā `Alá Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na I do not ask you for any reward for my services, for my reward will be given by the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.180] وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْ رٍ إِنْ أَجْ ر ِيَ إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
'Awfū A l-Kayla Wa Lā Takūnū Mina A l-Mukh sir ī na Give full measure and be not of those who cause losses to others by fraud.[26.181] أَوْفُوا ا لْكَيْلَ وَلاَ تَكُونُوا مِنَ ا لْمُخْسِر ِي نَ
Wa Zinū Bil-Qisţā si A l-Mustaqī mi Weigh with even scales[26.182] وَزِنُوا بِا لْقِسْطَا سِ ا لْمُسْتَقِي مِ
Wa Lā Tab kh asū A n -Nā sa 'Ash yā 'ahum Wa Lā Ta`th aw Fī A l-'Arđi Mufsidī na and do not cheat your fellow men of what is rightly theirs: nor spread evil in the land.[26.183] وَلاَ تَبْ خَسُوا ا ل نّ َا سَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلاَ تَعْثَوْا فِي ا لأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِي نَ
Wa A ttaqū A l-Ladh ī Kh alaqakum Wa A l-Jibillata A l-'Awwalī na Fear Him Who has created you and the generations before you.”[26.184] وَا تَّقُوا ا لَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Qālū 'Inn amā 'An ta Mina A l-Musaĥĥar ī na They replied: “You are surely one of those who are bewitched.[26.185] قَالُو ا إِنَّ مَا أَنْ تَ مِنَ ا لْمُسَحَّر ِي نَ
Wa Mā 'An ta 'Illā Bash arun Mith lunā Wa 'In Nažunn uka Lamina A l-Kādh ibī na You are no more than a human being like us and we think that you are lying.[26.186] وَمَا أَنْ تَ إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَإِن ْ نَظُنُّ كَ لَمِنَ ا لْكَاذِبِي نَ
Fa'asqiţ `Alaynā Kisafāan Mina A s-Samā 'i 'In Kun ta Mina A ş-Şādiqī na Let a fragment fall out of the sky on us if you are telling the Truth.”[26.187] فَأَسْقِط ْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفاً مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ إِن ْ كُنْ تَ مِنَ ا ل صَّادِقِي نَ
Qā la Rabbī 'A`lamu Bimā Ta`malū na Shu’aib said: “My Rabb has full knowledge of all your actions.”[26.188] قَا لَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُو نَ
Fakadh dh abū hu Fa'akh adh ahum `Adh ā bu Yawmi A ž-Žullati 'Inn ahu Kā na `Adh ā ba Yawmin `Ažī min So they disbelieved him, and the torment of the day of darkness (dark clouds carrying Allah's scourge) seized them, and indeed it was the torment of an extremely dreadful day.[26.189] فَكَذَّبُو هُُفَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَا بُ يَوْمِ ا ل ظُّلَّةِ إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ عَذَا بَ يَوْمٍ عَظِي مٍ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Wa Mā Kā na 'Akth aruhum Mu'uminī na Surely in this story there is a great lesson, but most of these people do not learn a lesson and become believers.[26.190] إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَا نَ أَكْثَرُهُم ْ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa 'Inn a Rabbaka Lahuwa A l-`Azī zu A r-Raĥī mu The fact is that your Rabb is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[26.191] وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا ل رَّحِي مُ
Wa 'Inn ahu Latan zī lu Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na Surely this Qur’an is a revelation from the Rabb of the Worlds.[26.192] وَإِنَّ هُُلَتَنْ زِي لُ رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Nazala Bihi A r-Rū ĥu A l-'Amī nu The trustworthy Spirit (Angel Gabriel) brought it down[26.193] نَزَلَ بِهِ ا ل رُّو حُ ا لأَمِي نُ
`Alá Qalbika Litakū na Mina A l-Mun dh ir ī na upon your heart so that you may become one of those who are appointed by Allah to warn the people[26.194] عَلَى قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُو نَ مِنَ ا لْمُن ذِر ِي نَ
Bilisā nin `Arabī yin Mubī nin in a plain Arabic language.[26.195] بِلِسَا نٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُبِي نٍ
Wa 'Inn ahu Lafī Zubur i A l-'Awwalī na This fact was foretold in the scriptures of the former people.[26.196] وَإِنَّ هُُلَفِي زُبُر ِ ا لأَوَّلِي نَ
'Awalam Yakun Lahum 'Ā yatan 'An Ya`lamahu `Ulamā 'u Banī 'Isrā 'ī la Is it not sufficient proof for the people that the learned men of the children of Israel knew about it?[26.197] أَوَلَمْ يَكُن ْ لَهُمْ آيَةً أَن ْ يَعْلَمَهُُعُلَمَا ءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِي لَ
Wa Law Nazzalnā hu `Alá Ba`đi A l-'A`jamī na Even so that if We had revealed it to a non-Arab,[26.198] وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا هُُعَلَى بَعْضِ ا لأَعْجَمِي نَ
Faqara'ahu `Alayhim Mā Kānū Bihi Mu'uminī na and he had recited it to them in fluent Arabic, they would still not have believed in it.[26.199] فَقَرَأَهُُعَلَيْهِم ْ مَا كَا نُوا بِهِِ مُؤْمِنِي نَ
Kadh ālika Salaknā hu Fī Qulū bi A l-Muj r imī na We have thus caused unbelief in the hearts of the guilty.[26.200] كَذَلِكَ سَلَكْنَا هُُفِي قُلُو بِ ا لْمُجْ ر ِمِي نَ
Lā Yu'uminū na Bihi Ĥattá Yaraw A l-`Adh ā ba A l-'Alī ma They are not going to believe in it until they see the painful scourge[26.201] لاَ يُؤْمِنُو نَ بِهِِ حَتَّى يَرَوْا ا لْعَذَا بَ ا لأَلِي مَ
Faya'tiyahum Bagh tatan Wa Hum Lā Yash `urū na which, in their heedlessness, will come to them suddenly.[26.202] فَيَأْتِيَهُم ْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُو نَ
Fayaqūlū Hal Naĥnu Mun žarū na Then they will ask: “Can we be given some respite?”[26.203] فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُن ظَرُو نَ
'Afabi`adh ābinā Yasta`jilū na Do they wish to hurry on Our scourge?[26.204] أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُو نَ
'Afara'ayta 'In Matta`nāhum Sinī na Just think! If We let them enjoy this life for many years,[26.205] أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِن ْ مَتَّعْنَاهُمْ سِنِي نَ
Th umm a Jā 'ahum Mā Kānū Yū`adū na and then the scourge with which they are threatened falls upon them,[26.206] ثُمّ َ جَاءَهُم ْ مَا كَا نُوا يُوعَدُو نَ
Mā 'Agh n á `Anhum Mā Kānū Yumatta`ū na of what avail will their past enjoyments be to them?[26.207] مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم ْ مَا كَا نُوا يُمَتَّعُو نَ
Wa Mā 'Ahlaknā Min Qaryatin 'Illā Lahā Mun dh irū na The Qur'an is revealed in plain Arabic by Allah through angel Gabriel; those people who do not want to believe will not believe Never have We destroyed a population to whom We did not send Warners;[26.208] وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن ْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلاَّ لَهَا مُن ذِرُو نَ
Dh ikrá Wa Mā Kunn ā Žālimī na they were forewarned, and We have never been unjust.[26.209] ذِكْرَى وَمَا كُنَّ ا ظَالِ مِي نَ
Wa Mā Tanazzalat Bihi A sh -Sh ayāţī nu This Qur’an is not brought down by the shaitمns:[26.210] وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ا ل شَّيَاطِي نُ
Wa Mā Yan bagh ī Lahum Wa Mā Yastaţī`ū na it is neither in their interest nor in their power to produce such a masterpiece.[26.211] وَمَا يَنْ بَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُو نَ
'Inn ahum `Ani A s-Sam `i Lama`zūlū na They are kept too far off to even hear it.[26.212] إِنَّ هُمْ عَنِ ا ل سَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُو نَ
Falā Tad `u Ma`a A l-Lahi 'Ilahāan 'Ā kh ara Fatakū na Mina A l-Mu`adh dh abī na So do not call on other gods besides Allah, lest you become one of those who incur His punishment.[26.213] فَلاَ تَد ْعُ مَعَ ا ل لَّهِ إِلَهاً آخَرَ فَتَكُو نَ مِنَ ا لْمُعَذَّبِي نَ
Wa 'An dh ir `Ash īrataka A l-'Aq rabī na Admonish your close relatives[26.214] وَأَن ذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ا لأَقْ رَبِي نَ
Wa A kh fiđ Janāĥaka Limani A ttaba`aka Mina A l-Mu'uminī na and lower your wing of kindness to those of the believers who follow you,[26.215] وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ا تَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
Fa'in `Aşawka Faqul 'Inn ī Bar ī 'un Mimm ā Ta`malū na but if they disobey, tell them: “I am not accountable for what you do."[26.216] فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّ ي بَر ِي ءٌ مِمَّ ا تَعْمَلُو نَ
Wa Tawakkal `Alá A l-`Azī zi A r-Raĥī mi Put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Merciful,[26.217] وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ا لْعَزِي زِ ا ل رَّحِي مِ
Al-Ladh ī Yarā ka Ĥī na Taqū mu Who observes you when you get up[26.218] ا لَّذِي يَرَا كَ حِي نَ تَقُو مُ
Wa Taqallubaka Fī A s-Sājidī na and when you walk among those who prostrate themselves in worship.[26.219] وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي ا ل سَّاجِدِي نَ
'Inn ahu Huwa A s-Samī `u A l-`Alī mu He is the One Who hears all and knows all.[26.220] إِنَّ هُُهُوَ ا ل سَّمِي عُ ا لْعَلِي مُ
Hal 'Unabbi'ukum `Alá Man Tanazzalu A sh -Sh ayāţī nu shaitمns: it is neither in their interest nor in Shall I tell you, O people, on whom the shaitمns descend?[26.221] هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَى مَن ْ تَنَزَّلُ ا ل شَّيَاطِي نُ
Tanazzalu `Alá Kulli 'Affā kin 'Ath ī min They descend on every slandering sinner,[26.222] تَنَزَّلُ عَلَى كُلِّ أَفَّا كٍ أَثِي مٍ
Yulqū na A s-Sam `a Wa 'Akth aruhum Kādh ibū na those who listen to hearsay - and most of them are liars[26.223] يُلْقُو نَ ا ل سَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَا ذِبُو نَ
Wa A sh -Sh u`arā 'u Yattabi`uhumu A l-Gh āwū na - and those poets who are followed by those who go astray.[26.224] وَالشُّعَرَا ءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ا لْغَاوُو نَ
'Alam Tará 'Ann ahum Fī Kulli Wā din Yahīmū na Do you not see, how aimlessly they wander in every valley,[26.225] أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ هُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُو نَ
Wa 'Ann ahum Yaqūlū na Mā Lā Yaf`alū na preaching what they do not practice themselves?[26.226] وَأَنَّ هُمْ يَقُولُو نَ مَا لاَ يَفْعَلُو نَ
'Illā A l-Ladh ī na 'Ā manū Wa `Amilū A ş-Şāliĥā ti Wa Dh akarū A l-Laha Kath īrāan Wa A n taşarū Min Ba`di Mā Žulimū Wa Saya`lamu A l-Ladh ī na Žalamū 'Ayya Mun qalabin Yan qalibū na However, an exception is made for those (poets) who believe, do good deeds, engage much in the remembrance of Allah and defend themselves when wronged, showing no vindictiveness. The unjust oppressors will soon find out what vicissitudes their affairs will take.[26.227] إِلاَّ ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا ا ل صَّالِحَا تِ وَذَكَرُوا ا ل لَّهَ كَثِيراً وَان تَصَرُوا مِن ْ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا وَسَيَعْلَمُ ا لَّذِي نَ ظَلَمُو ا أَيَّ مُن قَلَبٍ يَن قَلِبُو نَ
