Hayhāta Hayhāta Limā Tū`adūna Impossible! Just impossible is that with which you are being threatened![23.36] هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ
'In Hiya 'Illā Ĥayātunā Ad-Dunyā Namūtu Wa Naĥyā Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimabthīna There is no other life but our life of this world: we live here and die here, and shall never be raised to life again.[23.37] إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ
'In Huwa 'Illā Rajulun Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan Wa Mā Naĥnu Lahu Bimu'uminīna This man is but an impostor, forging a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.”[23.38] إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ رَجُل ٌ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبا ً وَمَا نَحْنُ لَه ُُ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
Qāla Rabbi Anşurnī Bimā Kadhdhabūni At this the Rasool prayed: “O my Rabb! Help me against their calling me a liar.”[23.39] قَالَ رَبِّ انصُرْنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
Qāla `Ammā Qalīlin Layuşbiĥunna Nādimīna Allah responded: “After a short time they will surely be sorry.”[23.40] قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيل ٍ لَيُصْبِحُنَّ نَادِمِينَ
Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Bil-Ĥaqqi Faja`alnāhum Ghuthā'an Fabu`dāan Lilqawmi Až-Žālimīna So the Blast overtook them in all justice and We swept them away like the rubbish of dead leaves - so gone is the nation of wrongdoers.[23.41] فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ غُثَاء ً فَبُعْدا ً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Thumma 'Ansha'nā Min Ba`dihim Qurūnāan 'Ākharīna After them We raised other generations[23.42] ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونا ً آخَرِينَ
Mā Tasbiqu Min 'Ummatin 'Ajalahā Wa Mā Yasta'khirūna - no people can hasten their term nor can they postpone it[23.43] مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ

Thumma 'Arsalnā Mūsá Wa 'Akhāhu Hārūna Bi'āyātinā Wa Sulţānin Mubīnin Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Haroon (Aaron) with Our signs and clear authority,[23.45] ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَى وَأَخَاه ُُ هَارُونَ بِآيَاتِنَا وَسُلْطَان ٍ مُبِين ٍ
'Ilá Fir`awna Wa Mala'ihi Fāstakbarū Wa Kānū Qawmāan `Ālīna to Fir'on (Pharaoh) and his chiefs: but they received them with arrogance for they were very haughty people.[23.46] إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِه ِِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْماً عَالِينَ
Faqālū 'Anu'uminu Libasharayni Mithlinā Wa Qawmuhumā Lanā `Ābidūna They said: “What! Should we believe in two human beings like ourselves, and whose people are our slaves?”[23.47] فَقَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَابِدُونَ
Fakadhdhabūhumā Fakānū Mina Al-Muhlakīna So they disbelieved both of them and became among those who were destroyed.[23.48] فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا مِنَ الْمُهْلَكِينَ
Wa Laqad 'Ātaynā Mūsá Al-Kitāba La`allahum Yahtadūna And We gave Musa the Book, so that his people might be rightly guided.[23.49] وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
Wa Ja`alnā Abna Maryama Wa 'Ummahu 'Āyatan Wa 'Āwaynāhumā 'Ilá Rabwatin Dhāti Qarārin Wa Ma`īnin And We made the son of Maryam (Jesus) and his mother a sign for mankind, and gave them a shelter on a peaceful lofty ground, furnished with a fresh spring.[23.50] وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ آيَة ً وَآوَيْنَاهُمَا إِلَى رَبْوَة ٍ ذَاتِ قَرَار ٍ وَمَعِين ٍ
Yā 'Ayyuhā Ar-Rusulu Kulū Mina Aţ-Ţayyibāti Wa A`malū Şāliĥāan 'Innī Bimā Ta`malūna `Alīmun O Rasools! Wa 'Inna Hadhihi 'Ummatukum 'Ummatan Wāĥidatan Wa 'Anā Rabbukum Fa Attaqūni In fact, your religion is one religion, and I am your only Rabb: so fear Me Alone.[23.52] وَإِنَّ هَذِهِ~ِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّة ً وَاحِدَة ً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاتَّقُونِ
Fataqaţţa`ū 'Amrahum Baynahum Zuburāan Kullu Ĥizbin Bimā Ladayhim Farūna Yet people have divided themselves into factions and each faction rejoices in its own doctrines[23.53] فَتَقَطَّعُوا أَمْرَهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرا ً كُلُّ حِزْب ٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ
FadharhumGhamratihim Ĥattá Ĥīnin - well! Leave them in their heedlessness for an appointed time.[23.54] فَذَرْهُمْ فِي غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّى حِين ٍ

Wa Al-Ladhīna Yu'utūna Mā 'Ātaw Wa Qulūbuhum Wa Jilatun 'Annahum 'Ilá Rabbihim Rāji`ūna who give to charity whatever they can give, and their hearts are full of fear by the very idea that they shall have to return to their Rabb,[23.60] وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ رَاجِعُونَ
'Ūlā'ika Yusāri`ūna Fī Al-Khayrāti Wa Hum Lahā Sābiqūna it is they who rush in doing good deeds and try to be the first in attaining them.[23.61] أُوْلَائِكَ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَابِقُونَ
Wa Lā Nukallifu Nafsāan 'Illā Wus`ahā Wa Ladaynā Kitābun Yanţiqu Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Hum Lā Yužlamūn We charge no soul with more than it can bear; We have a Book of record which shall clearly tell the truth, and they shall not be treated unjustly.[23.62] وَلاَ نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسا ً إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَاب ٌ يَنطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لاَ يُظْلَمُون

Qad Kānat 'Āyātī Tutlá `Alaykum Fakuntum `Alá 'A`qābikum Tankişūna My revelations were recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels[23.66] قَدْ كَانَتْ آيَاتِي تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُمْ عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ
Mustakbirīna Bihi Sāmirāan Tahjurūna in arrogance, talking nonsense about The Qur’an like one telling fables by night.[23.67] مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِه ِِ سَامِرا ً تَهْجُرُونَ
'Afalam Yaddabbarū Al-Qawla 'Am Jā'ahum Mā Lam Ya'ti 'Ābā'ahumu Al-'Awwalīna Do they not ponder over the Word of Allah or has anything new come to them which did not come to their forefathers?[23.68] أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا الْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَاءَهُمْ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِ آبَاءَهُمُ الأَوَّلِينَ
'Am Lam Ya`rifū Rasūlahum Fahum Lahu Munkirūna Or is it because they do not recognize their Rasool, who is a member of their own community, that they deny him?[23.69] أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَه ُُ مُنكِرُونَ
'Am Yaqūlūna Bihi Jinnatun Bal Jā'ahum Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Aktharuhum Lilĥaqqi Kārihūna Or are they really convinced that he is a madman? Nay! In fact he has brought them the Truth and most of them dislike the Truth.[23.70] أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِه ِِ جِنَّة ٌ بَلْ جَاءَهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ
Wa Lawi Attaba`a Al-Ĥaqqu 'Ahwā'ahum Lafasadati As-Samāwātu Wa Al-'Arđu Wa Man Fīhinna Bal 'Ataynāhum Bidhikrihim Fahum `An Dhikrihim Mu`rūna - Had the Truth followed their appetites, the heavens, the earth and everything therein would have been disrupted. Nay! We have given them their reminder, but they are heedless to their reminder.[23.71] وَلَوِ اتَّبَعَ الْحَقُّ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأَرْضُ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ بَلْ أَتَيْنَاهُمْ بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِهِمْ مُعْرِضُونَ
'Am Tas'aluhum Kharjāan Fakharāju Rabbika Khayrun Wa Huwa Khayru Ar-Rāziqīna Or is it that you are asking them for some recompense? But the recompense of your Rabb is the best, for He is the best provider of sustenance.[23.72] أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ خَرْجا ً فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْر ٌ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ
Wa 'Innaka Latad`ūhum 'Ilá Şirāţin Mustaqīmin As a matter of fact, you (O Muhammad) are calling them to the Straight Way;[23.73] وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاط ٍ مُسْتَقِيم ٍ
Wa 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Bil-'Ākhirati `Ani Aş-Şirāţi Lanākibūna and surely those who do not believe in the hereafter will ever stray from the Straight Way.[23.74] وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالآخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنَاكِبُونَ
Wa Law Raĥimnāhum Wa Kashafnā Mā Bihim Min Đurrin Lalajjū Fī Ţughyānihim Ya`mahūna If We show them mercy and relieve them of their affliction, they would obstinately persist in their rebellion, blindly wandering to and fro;[23.75] وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَاهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِمْ مِنْ ضُرّ ٍ لَلَجُّوا فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Wa Laqad 'Akhadhnāhum Bil-`Adhābi Famā Astakānū Lirabbihim Wa Mā Yatađarra`ūna for even now, when We have inflicted punishment on them, they have neither submitted to their Rabb nor humbled themselves towards Him.[23.76] وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
Ĥattá 'Idhā Fataĥnā `Alayhim Bābāan Dhā `Adhābin Shadīdin 'Idhā Hum Fīhi Mublisūna Until when We open upon them a gate of severe punishment, you will see that they are plunged in utter despair.[23.77] حَتَّى إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابا ً ذَا عَذَاب ٍ شَدِيد ٍ إِذَا هُمْ فِيه ِِ مُبْلِسُونَ
Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī 'Ansha'a Lakumu As-Sam`a Wa Al-'Abşāra Wa Al-'Af'idata Qalīlāan Mā Tashkurūna It is Allah Who has given you ears, eyes and hearts - yet seldom you show gratitude[23.78] وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالأَبْصَارَ وَالأَفْئِدَةَ قَلِيلا ً مَا تَشْكُرُونَ
Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Dhara'akum Al-'Arđi Wa 'Ilayhi Tuĥsharūna - it is He Who has placed you in the earth and before Him you shall all be assembled on the Day of Judgement.[23.79] وَهُوَ الَّذِي ذَرَأَكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Yuĥyī Wa Yumītu Wa Lahu Akhtilāfu Al-Layli Wa An-Nahāri 'Afalā Ta`qilūna It is He Who gives life and cause you to die, and in His control is the alternation of the night and the day: then why don’t you understand?[23.80] وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ اخْتِلاَفُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ
Bal Qālū Mithla Mā Qāla Al-'Awwalūna On the contrary they just say what their forefathers said before them,[23.81] بَلْ قَالُوا مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ الأَوَّلُونَ
Qālū 'A'idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Wa `Ižāmāan 'A'innā Lamabthūna who said: “What! After death when our bodies become dust and bones, could we really be raised to life again?[23.82] قَالُوا أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً وَعِظَاماً أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
Laqad Wu`idnā Naĥnu Wa 'Ābā'uunā Hādhā Min Qablu 'In Hādhā 'Illā 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna We have heard many such threats and so did our forefathers before us. These are nothing but legends of primitive people.”[23.83] لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَآبَاؤُنَا هَذَا مِنْ قَبْلُ إِنْ هَذَا إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ
Qul Limani Al-'Arđu Wa Man Fīhā 'In Kuntum Ta`lamūna Say: “To whom belongs the earth and everything therein? Tell me if you know?”[23.84] قُلْ لِمَنِ الأَرْضُ وَمَنْ فِيهَا إِنْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
Sayaqūlūna Lillahi Qul 'Afalā Tadhakkarūna They will promptly reply: “to Allah!” Ask them: “Then why you do not use your common sense and believe in Him?”[23.85] سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ قُلْ أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُونَ
Qul Man Rabbu As-Samāwāti As-Sab`i Wa Rabbu Al-`Arshi Al-`Ažīmi Say: “Who is the Rabb of the seven heavens and the Rabb of the Glorious Throne?”[23.86] قُلْ مَنْ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
Sayaqūlūna Lillahi Qul 'Afalā Tattaqūna Right away they will say: “Allah.” Ask them: “Then why you do not fear Him?”[23.87] سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ قُلْ أَفَلاَ تَتَّقُونَ
Qul Man Biyadihi Malakūtu Kulli Shay'in Wa Huwa Yujīru Wa Lā Yujāru `Alayhi 'In Kuntum Ta`lamūn Say: “In whose hands is the sovereignty of all things, protecting all, while against Him there is no protection? Tell me if you know.”[23.88] قُلْ مَنْ بِيَدِه ِِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْء ٍ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلاَ يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ إِنْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُون
Sayaqūlūna Lillahi Qul Fa'annā Tusĥarūna Quickly they will reply: “Allah.” Ask them: “Then how can you be so bewitched?”[23.89] سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ قُلْ فَأَنَّا تُسْحَرُونَ
Bal 'Ataynāhum Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Innahum Lakādhibūna The fact of the matter is that We have brought them the Truth, and undoubtedly these people are liars.[23.90] بَلْ أَتَيْنَاهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ
Attakhadha Al-Lahu Min Waladin Wa Mā Kāna Ma`ahu Min 'Ilahin 'Idhāan Ladhahaba Kullu 'Ilahin Bimā Khalaqa Wa La`alā Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Subĥāna Al-Lahi `Ammā Yaşifūna Never has Allah begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Had it been so, each god would govern his own creation, and each would have tried to overpower the others. Exalted be Allah, above the sort of things they attribute to Him![23.91] مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِنْ وَلَد ٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَه ُُ مِنْ إِلَهٍ~ ٍ إِذا ً لَذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَه ٍ ٍ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلاَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
`Ālimi Al-Ghaybi Wa Ash-Shahādati Fata`ālá `Ammā Yushrikūna He knows what is hidden and what is open: far above is He from the shirk of these people.[23.92] عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَتَعَالَى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
Qul Rabbi 'Immā Turiyannī Mā Yū`adūna Pray: “O my Rabb! If You inflict that punishment with which they are being threatened in my lifetime,[23.93] قُلْ رَبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّي مَا يُوعَدُونَ
Rabbi Falā Taj`alnī Fī Al-Qawmi Až-Žālimīna then O Rabb, do not include me amongst these unjust people.”[23.94] رَبِّ فَلاَ تَجْعَلْنِي فِي الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa 'Innā `Alá 'An Nuriyaka Mā Na`iduhum Laqādirūna Surely We have the power to let you see the punishment with which they are being threatened.[23.95] وَإِنَّا عَلَى أَنْ نُرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمْ لَقَادِرُونَ

Wa 'A`ūdhu Bika Rabbi 'An Yaĥđurūni and O Rabb! I seek refuge in You even from their coming near me.”[23.98] وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ
Ĥattá 'Idhā Jā'a 'Aĥadahumu Al-Mawtu Qāla Rabbi Arji`ūni These people will never refrain from wrongdoing until when death comes to anyone of them, he will say: “O Rabb! Send me back,[23.99] حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ

This is just a statement which carries no value, it will be too late because there will be a barrier between them and the world they have just left till the Day they are raised to life again.[23.100] لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صَالِحا ً فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَائِلُهَا وَمِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ بَرْزَخ ٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
