'Alif-Lām-Mīm-Rā Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Wa Al-Ladhī 'Unzila 'Ilayka Min Rabbika Al-Ĥaqqu Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Yu'uminūna Alif L'm M'm R. These are the Verses of the Book (Qur'an) which has been revealed to you, O Muhammad, from your Rabb is the Truth, but most of the people do not believe in this.[13.1] ---
Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Rafa`a As-Samāwāti Bighayri `Amadin Tarawnahā Thumma Astawá `Alá Al-`Arshi Wa Sakhkhara Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Kullun Yajrī Li'jalin Musammáan Yudabbiru Al-'Amra Yufaşşilu Al-'Āyāti La`allakum Biliqā'i Rabbikum Tūqinūna Allah is the One Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see, then firmly established Himself on the throne of authority and subjected the sun and the moon to His law - each one pursuing its course for an appointed time. He regulates all affairs. He has spelled out His revelations so that you may believe in meeting your Rabb.[13.2]
Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Madda Al-'Arđa Wa Ja`ala Fīhā Rawāsiya Wa 'Anhārāan Wa Min Kulli Ath-Thamarāti Ja`ala Fīhā Zawjayni Athnayni Yughshī Al-Layla An-Nahāra 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Yatafakkarūna He is the One Who spread out the earth and placed thereon mountains and rivers, created fruits of every kind in pairs, two and two, and makes the night cover the day. Certainly in these things there are signs for those who use their common sense.[13.3]
Wa Fī Al-'Arđi Qiţa`un Mutajāwirātun Wa Jannātun Min 'A`nābin Wa Zar`un Wa Nakhīlun Şinwānun Wa Ghayru Şinwānin Yusqá Bimā'in Wāĥidin Wa Nufađđilu Ba`đahā `Alá Ba`đin Al-'Ukuli 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Ya`qilūna In the earth there are tracts side by side: gardens of grapes, cornfields and palm trees with single and double trunks - they are all watered with the same water, yet We make some of them excel others in taste. Surely in this, there are signs for people who use their common sense.[13.4]
Wa 'In Ta`jab Fa`ajabun Qawluhum 'A'idhā Kunnā Turābāan 'A'innā Lafī Khalqin Jadīdin 'Ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Birabbihim Wa 'Ūlā'ika Al-'Aghlālu Fī 'A`nāqihim Wa 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna Now, if there is anything that seems strange, then strange is their saying: What! When we will become dust, could we then be raised to a new life again? They are the people who have denied their Rabb, they are the ones who will have yokes around their necks and they are the ones who will be the inmates of Hellfire to live therein forever.[13.5]
Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bis-Sayyi'ati Qabla Al-Ĥasanati Wa Qad Khalat Min Qablihimu Al-Mathulātu Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Ladhū Maghfiratin Lilnnāsi `Alá Žulmihim Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Lashadīdu Al-`Iqābi They ask you to hasten on the evil (Allahs scourge) rather than the good, although there have been instances of exemplary punishments before them. In fact your Rabb is the Lord of Forgiveness to the people, notwithstanding their wrongdoing; and it is also the fact that your Rabb is stern in retribution.[13.6]
Wa Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lawlā 'Unzila `Alayhi 'Āyatun Min Rabbihi 'Innamā 'Anta Mundhirun Wa Likulli Qawmin Hādin The unbelievers say: Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Rabb? You are nothing but a Warner and every nation was assigned a guide.[13.7] ~
Al-Lahu Ya`lamu Mā Taĥmilu Kullu 'Unthá Wa Mā Taghīđu Al-'Arĥāmu Wa Mā Tazdādu Wa Kullu Shay'in `Indahu Bimiqdārin Allah knows what every female bears in her womb. He is fully aware of what decrease or increase (miscarriage or a long wait) takes place in the womb. Everything has a due measure with Him.[13.8]
`Ālimu Al-Ghaybi Wa Ash-Shahādati Al-Kabīru Al-Muta`ālī He has perfect knowledge of both the visible and the invisible. He is the Great, the Most High.[13.9]
Sawā'un Minkum Man 'Asarra Al-Qawla Wa Man Jahara Bihi Wa Man Huwa Mustakhfin Bil-Layli Wa Sāribun Bin-Nahāri It is the same to Him whether any of you speak in secret or aloud, whether anyone hides under the darkness of night or walks about in broad daylight.[13.10]
Lahu Mu`aqqibātun Min Bayni Yadayhi Wa Min Khalfihi Yaĥfažūnahu Min 'Amri Al-Lahi 'Inna Al-Laha Lā Yughayyiru Mā Biqawmin Ĥattá Yughayyirū Mā Bi'anfusihim Wa 'Idhā 'Arāda Al-Lahu Biqawmin Sū'āan Falā Maradda Lahu Wa Mā Lahum Min Dūnihi Min Wa A- Each person has been assigned guardian angels before him and behind him, who watch him by the command of Allah. The fact is that Allah never changes the condition of a people until they intend to change it themselves. If Allah wants to afflict a people with misfortune, none can ward it off, nor they can find any protector besides Him.[13.11]
Huwa Al-Ladhī Yurīkumu Al-Barqa Khawfāan Wa Ţama`āan Wa Yunshi'u As-Saĥāba Ath-Thiqāla He is the One Who shows you lightning, which causes fear and hope, and brings up heavy clouds (with rain). [13.12]
Wa Yusabbiĥu Ar-Ra`du Biĥamdihi Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Min Khīfatihi Wa Yursilu Aş-Şawā`iqa Fayuşību Bihā Man Yashā'u Wa Hum Yujādilūna Fī Al-Lahi Wa Huwa Shadīdu Al-Miĥāli The thunder declares His glory with His praises and so do the angels with awe. He is the One Who sends thunderbolts and smites with them whomever He wants. Yet these unbelievers dispute concerning Allah; He is mighty in strength.[13.13]
Lahu Da`watu Al-Ĥaqqi Wa Al-Ladhīna Yad`ūna Min Dūnihi Lā Yastajībūna Lahum Bishay'in 'Illā Kabāsiţi Kaffayhi 'Ilá Al-Mā'i Liyablugha Fāhu Wa Mā Huwa Bibālighihi Wa Mā Du`ā'u Al-Kāfirīna 'Illā Fī Đalālin Praying to Him Alone is the right thing. The other deities they pray to, besides Him, cannot answer their prayers. They are like a man who stretches forth his hands to the water and asks it to reach his mouth. It cannot reach his mouth this way; likewise the prayer of the unbelievers is nothing but a fruitless effort.[13.14]
Wa Lillahi Yasjudu Man As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Ţaw`āan Wa Karhāan Wa Žilāluhum Bil-Ghudūwi Wa Al-'Āşāli Whatever is in the heavens and the earth do prostrate before Allah Alone willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows in the mornings and evenings.[13.15]
Qul Man Rabbu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Quli Al-Lahu Qul 'Afāttakhadhtum Min Dūnihi 'Awliyā'a Lā Yamlikūna Li'nfusihim Naf`āan Wa Lā Đarrāan Qul Hal Yastawī Al-'A`má Wa Al-Başīru 'Am Hal Tastawī Až-Žulumātu Wa An-Nūr 'Am Ja`alū Lillahi Shurakā'a Khalaqū Kakhalqihi Fatashābaha Al-Khalqu `Alayhim Quli Al-Lahu Khāliqu Kulli Shay'in Wa Huwa Al-Wāĥidu Al-Qahhāru Ask them: "Who is the Rabb of the heavens and the earth?" If they hesitate to respond, say: "Allah." Then ask them: "When this is the fact, why do you take other deities, besides Him, who do not control any benefit or harm even to themselves, as your protectors?" Say: "Are the blind and the seeing equal? Or can darkness and light be equal?" If that is not so, then, have their shorakã' (other deities they worship) created any thing like His creation which has made the matter of creation doubtful for them? Say: "Allah Alone is the Creator of everything and He is the One, the Irresistible."[[13.16] ~
'Anzala Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fasālat 'Awdiyatun Biqadarihā Fāĥtamala As-Saylu Zabadāan Rābīāan Wa Mimmā Yūqidūna `Alayhi Fī An-Nāri Abtighā'a Ĥilyatin 'Aw Matā`in Zabadun Mithluhu Kadhālika Yađribu Al-Lahu Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Al-Bāţila Fa'ammā Az-Zabadu Fayadh/habu Jufā'an Wa 'Ammā Mā Yanfa`u An-Nāsa Fayamkuthu Fī Al-'Arđi Kadhālika Yađribu Al-Lahu Al-'Amthāla He sends down water from the skies and each channel starts flowing according to its measure, and then the torrent bears a swelling foam - like the scum which appears from metals which are melted in the furnace for making ornaments and utensils. By such examples Allah depicts truth and falsehood. As for the scum, it is thrown away, being worthless, but that which is useful for the mankind remains behind on the earth. In this way Allah cites examples to make His message clear.[13.17]
Lilladhīna Astajābū Lirabbihimu Al-Ĥusná Wa Al-Ladhīna Lam Yastajībū Lahu Law 'Anna Lahum Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Jamī`āan Wa Mithlahu Ma`ahu Lāftadaw Bihi 'Ūlā'ika Lahum Sū'u Al-Ĥisābi Wa Ma'wāhum Jahannamu Wa Bi'sa Al-Mihādu There is an excellent reward for those who respond to the call of their Rabb. As for those who do not respond to Him - even if they had all that is in the earth, and as much besides, to offer as a ransom in order to save themselves from punishment, it would be of no use. They are the ones who will have terrible reckoning; their abode will be hell - what an evil resting place.[13.18] ~
'Afaman Ya`lamu 'Annamā 'Unzila 'Ilayka Min Rabbika Al-Ĥaqqu Kaman Huwa 'A`má 'Innamā Yatadhakkaru 'Ū Al-'Albābi How can the one who knows that which has been revealed to you from your Rabb is the Truth, be like the one who is blind to this fact? Only those who use their common sense benefit from this reminder.[13.19]
Al-Ladhīna Yūfūna Bi`ahdi Al-Lahi Wa Lā Yanquđūna Al-Mīthāqa They are the ones who fulfill their covenant with Allah and do not break their pledge; [13.20]
Wa Al-Ladhīna Yaşilūna Mā 'Amara Al-Lahu Bihi 'An Yūşala Wa Yakhshawna Rabbahum Wa Yakhāfūna Sū'a Al-Ĥisābi and they are the ones who join together what Allah has commanded to be joined, who fear their Rabb and are afraid of the terrible reckoning;[13.21] ~
Wa Al-Ladhīna Şabarū Abtighā'a Wajhi Rabbihim Wa 'Aqāmū Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Anfaqū Mimmā Razaqnāhum Sirrāan Wa `Alāniyatan Wa Yadra'ūna Bil-Ĥasanati As-Sayyi'ata 'Ūlā'ika Lahum `Uq Ad-Dāri also they are the ones who are patient, seek the pleasure of their Rabb, establish Salah, spend secretly and openly out of the sustenance which We have provided for them, and repel evil with good - they are the ones for whom there is the home of the hereafter[13.22]
Jannātu `Adnin Yadkhulūnahā Wa Man Şalaĥa Min 'Ābā'ihim Wa 'Azwājihim Wa Dhurrīyātihim Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Yadkhulūna `Alayhim Min Kulli Bābin - the Paradise of perpetual bliss: they will enter into it along with their righteous forefathers, their spouses and their descendants. The angels will come to welcome them from every side,[13.23]
Salāmun `Alaykum Bimā Şabartum Fani`ma `Uq Ad-Dāri saying: Peace be upon you for all that you steadfastly endured in the world. Now! How excellent will be the home of the hereafter![13.24]
Wa Al-Ladhīna Yanquđūna `Ahda Al-Lahi Min Ba`di Mīthāqihi Wa Yaqţa`ūna Mā 'Amara Al-Lahu Bihi 'An Yūşala Wa Yufsidūna Fī Al-'Arđi 'Ūlā'ika Lahumu Al-La`natu Wa Lahum Sū'u Ad-Dāri As for those who break their covenant with Allah after confirming it and cut asunder what Allah has commanded to be joined and create mischief in the land, they are the ones on whom there shall be a curse and they are the ones who will have a terrible home.[13.25] ~
Al-Lahu Yabsuţu Ar-Rizqa Liman Yashā'u Wa Yaqdiru Wa Fariĥū Bil-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Mā Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā Fī Al-'Ākhirati 'Illā Matā`un Allah grants abundantly His provisions to whom He will and sparingly to whom He pleases. The unbelievers rejoice in the life of this world: but brief indeed is the comfort of this worldly life as compared to the life of the hereafter.[13.26]
Wa Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lawlā 'Unzila `Alayhi 'Āyatun Min Rabbihi Qul 'Inna Al-Laha Yuđillu Man Yashā'u Wa Yahdī 'Ilayhi Man 'Anāba The unbelievers say: Why has no sign been sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Rabb? Say: In fact Allah lets him go astray who wants, and guides to Himself those who turn to Him[13.27]
Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Taţma'innu Qulūbuhum Bidhikri Al-Lahi 'Alā Bidhikri Al-Lahi Taţma'innu Al-Qulūbu - such are the ones who have believed and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. Beware! It is the remembrance of Allah which provides tranquility to the hearts.[13.28]
Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Ţūbá Lahum Wa Ĥusnu Ma'ābin As for those who believe and do good deeds, for them there will be prosperity and a beautiful place of final return."[13.29]
Kadhālika 'Arsalnāka Fī 'Ummatin Qad Khalat Min Qablihā 'Umamun Litatluwa `Alayhimu Al-Ladhī 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayka Wa Hum Yakfurūna Bir-Raĥmani Qul Huwa Rabbī Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa `Alayhi Tawakkaltu Wa 'Ilayhi Matābi O Muhammad! We have sent you among a nation before whom other nations have passed away, so that you may recite to them Our revelations which We have sent down to you; yet they are rejecting the Compassionate (Allah). Say: He is my Rabb! There is no god but Him. In Him I have put my trust and to Him shall I return."[13.30] ~
Wa Law 'Anna Qur'ānāan Suyyirat Bihi Al-Jibālu 'Aw Quţţi`at Bihi Al-'Arđu 'Aw Kullima Bihi Al-Mawtá Bal Lillahi Al-'Amru Jamī`āan 'Afalam Yay'asi Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'An Law Yashā'u Al-Lahu Lahadá An-Nāsa Jamī`āan Wa Lā Yazālu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Tuşībuhum Bimā Şana`ū Qāri`atun 'Aw Taĥullu Qarībāan Minrihim Ĥattá Ya'tiya Wa`du Al-Lahi 'Inna Al-Laha Lā Yukhlifu Al-Mī`āda Even if there were a Quran that could move mountains, cleft the earth asunder or make the dead speak (do you think the result would have been different?) Surely all things are subject to Allahs command. Have not yet the believers been satisfied that if Allah wanted, He would have certainly guided the whole of mankind? As for the unbelievers, the disaster will not cease to afflict them every now and then or to crouch at their very doorsteps because of their misdeeds, until the promise of Allah is fulfilled; surely Allah will not fail His promise.[13.31]
Wa Laqadi Astuhzi'a Birusulin Min Qablika Fa'amlaytu Lilladhīna Kafarū Thumma 'Akhadhtuhum Fakayfa Kāna `Iqābi Rasools have been mocked before you (O Muhammad), but I always gave respite to the unbelievers and finally I seized them, so see how terrible was My requital![13.32]
'Afaman Huwa Qā'imun `Alá Kulli Nafsin Bimā Kasabat Wa Ja`alū Lillahi Shurakā'a Qul Sammūhum 'Am Tunabbi'ūnahu Bimā Lā Ya`lamu Fī Al-'Arđi 'Am Bižāhirin Mina Al-Qawli Bal Zuyyina Lilladhīna Kafarū Makruhum Wa Şuddū `Ani As-Sabīli Wa Man Yuđlili Al-Lahu Famā Lahu Min Hādin What! Are they so audacious that they ascribe partners to Allah, Who watches minutely over each and every soul and knows all that it does? O Prophet ask them: If Allah Himself has set them up as His partners, then tell me their names! Do you mean to inform Him of something new that He Himself does not know on this earth, or do you merely utter empty words? Nay! Indeed their foul devices seem fair to the unbelievers, for they have been debarred from the Right Way; and there is none to guide those whom Allah has let go astray.[13.33]
Lahum `Adhābun Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa La`adhābu Al-'Ākhirati 'Ashaqqu Wa Mā Lahum Mina Al-Lahi Min Wāqin They shall be punished in the life of this world, still more grievous is the punishment of the hereafter, and there is none to protect them from Allah.[13.34]
Mathalu Al-Jannati Allatī Wu`ida Al-Muttaqūna Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru 'Ukuluhā Dā'imun Wa Žilluhā Tilka `Uq Al-Ladhīna Attaqaw Wa `Uq Al-Kāfirīna An-Nāru As for the paradise which the righteous have been promised, it is like this: rivers flow beneath it; eternal are its fruits, and eternal are its shades; such is the reward of the righteous. But the reward of unbelievers is the fire.[13.35]
Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Ātaynāhumu Al-Kitāba Yafraĥūna Bimā 'Unzila 'Ilayka Wa Mina Al-'Aĥzābi Man Yunkiru Ba`đahu Qul 'Innamā 'Umirtu 'An 'A`buda Al-Laha Wa Lā 'Ushrika Bihi 'Ilayhi 'Ad`ū Wa 'Ilayhi Ma'ābi O Prophet, some of those to whom We have given the Book rejoice at what is revealed to you, while there are some factions who deny a part of it. Tell them: I am commanded to worship Allah and to associate none with Him. To Him I invite you and to Him I shall return."[13.36] ~
Wa Kadhalika 'Anzalnāhu Ĥukmāan `Arabīyāan Wa La'ini Attaba`ta 'Ahwā'ahum Ba`damā Jā'aka Mina Al-`Ilmi Mā Laka Mina Al-Lahi Min Wa Līyin Wa Lā Wāqin With these instructions, We have revealed this commandment in the Arabic language. Now, if you follow their vain desires after real knowledge has come to you, there will be none to save you or protect you against the wrath of Allah.[13.37]
Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Rusulāan Min Qablika Wa Ja`alnā Lahum 'Azwājāan Wa Dhurrīyatan Wa Mā Kāna Lirasūlin 'An Ya'tiya Bi'āyatin 'Illā Bi'idhni Al-Lahi Likulli 'Ajalin Kitābun We have sent forth other Rasools before you and given them wives and children and it was never in the power of a Rasool to show any miracle without the sanction of Allah. For each period there was a Book:[13.38]
Yamĥū Al-Lahu Mā Yashā'u Wa Yuthbitu Wa `Indahu 'Ummu Al-Kitābi Allah abrogates and confirms what He pleases - with Him is the Master Copy of the Book.[13.39] ~
Wa 'In Mā Nuriyannaka Ba`đa Al-Ladhī Na`iduhum 'Aw Natawaffayannaka Fa'innamā `Alayka Al-Balāghu Wa `Alaynā Al-Ĥisābu O Muhammad! Whether We let you see, within your lifetime, a part of what We threaten them with or cause you to die before We smite them, your mission is only to deliver the Message and it is for Us to take accountability.[13.40]
'Awalam Yaraw 'Annā Na'tī Al-'Arđa Nanquşuhā Min 'Aţrāfihā Wa Allāhu Yaĥkumu Lā Mu`aqqiba Liĥukmihi Wa Huwa Sarī`u Al-Ĥisābi Do they not see that We are gradually reducing the land in their control through curtailing its borders? When Allah commands, there is none to reverse His command and He is swift in taking accountability.[13.41]
Wa Qad Makara Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Falillāhi Al-Makru Jamī`āan Ya`lamu Mā Taksibu Kullu Nafsin Wa Saya`lamu Al-Kuffāru Liman `Uq Ad-Dāri Those unbelievers who have passed before them also devised plots; but Allah is the Master of all planning. He knows the actions of every soul. Soon the unbelievers will come to know who will get the home of paradise in the hereafter.[13.42]
Wa Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lasta Mursalāan Qul Kafá Bil-Lahi Shahīdāan Baynī Wa Baynakum Wa Man `Indahu `Ilmu Al-Kitābi The unbelievers say: You are no Rasool." Say: Allah is all-sufficient witness between me and you, and so are those who have knowledge of the Book."[13.43]
