| 'Alif-Lām-Rā Kitābun 'Uĥkimat 'Āyātuhu Thumma Fuşşilat Min Ladun Ĥakīmin Khabīrin | Alif L'مm R'م. This Book, whose verses are perfected and issued in detail by the One Who is All-Wise, All-Aware,[11.1] | أَلِف-لَام-رَا كِتَابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آيَاتُه ُُ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتْ مِنْ لَدُنْ حَكِيمٍ خَبِير ٍ |
| 'Allā Ta`budū 'Illā Al-Laha 'Innanī Lakum Minhu Nadhīrun Wa Bashīrun | Teaches that you should worship none but Allah - indeed I am a warner and bearer of good news from Him to you.[11.2] | أَلاَّ تَعْبُدُوا إِلاَّ اللَّهَ إِنَّنِي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِير ٌ وَبَشِير ٌ |
| Wa 'Ani Astaghfirū Rabbakum Thumma Tūbū 'Ilayhi Yumatti`kum Matā`āan Ĥasanāan 'Ilá 'Ajalin Musammáan Wa Yu'uti Kulla Dhī Fađlin Fađlahu Wa 'In Tawallaw Fa'innī 'Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin Kabīrin | You should seek forgiveness of your Rabb and turn to Him in repentance; He will grant you good provisions untill an appointed term, and bestow His grace on everyone who has merit! But if you turn away (pay no heed), I fear for you the punishment of a Great Day.[11.3] | وَأَنِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُمَتِّعْكُمْ مَتَاعاً حَسَنا ً إِلَى أَجَل ٍ مُسَمّى ً وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضْل ٍ فَضْلَه ُُ وَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْم ٍ كَبِير ٍ |
| 'Ilá Al-Lahi Marji`ukum Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun | To Allah you shall all return and He has power over everything.[11.4] | إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء ٍ قَدِير ٌ |
| 'Alā 'Innahum Yathnūna Şudūrahum Liyastakhfū Minhu 'Alā Ĥīna Yastaghshūna Thiyābahum Ya`lamu Mā Yusirrūna Wa Mā Yu`linūna 'Innahu `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri | Behold! They cover up their chests to conceal their thoughts from Him! Beware! Even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal, for He knows even the inmost secrets of the chests.[11.5] | أَلاَ إِنَّهُمْ يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ لِيَسْتَخْفُوا مِنْهُ أَلاَ حِينَ يَسْتَغْشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ إِنَّه ُُ عَلِيم ٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ |
| Wa Mā Min Dābbatin Fī Al-'Arđi 'Illā `Alá Al-Lahi Rizquhā Wa Ya`lamu Mustaqarrahā Wa Mustawda`ahā Kullun Fī Kitābin Mubīnin | There is no moving creature on Earth whose sustenance is not provided by Allah. He knows its living and its resting place, and all that is recorded in a Glorious Book. [11.6] | وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّة ٍ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلاَّ عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا كُلّ ٌ فِي كِتَاب ٍ مُبِين ٍ |
| Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Fī Sittati 'Ayyāmin Wa Kāna `Arshuhu `Alá Al-Mā'i Liyabluwakum 'Ayyukum 'Aĥsanu `Amalāan Wa La'in Qulta 'Innakum Mab`ūthūna Min Ba`di Al-Mawti Layaqūlanna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū 'In Hādhā 'Illā Siĥrun Mubīnun | He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods - at the time when His Throne was resting on the water - so that He may test to find out which of you is the best in deeds. Now if you tell them:" You shall indeed be raised up after death," the unbelievers would certainly say: “This is nothing but sheer magic!”[11.7] | وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّام ٍ وَكَانَ عَرْشُه ُُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلا ً وَلَئِنْ قُلْتَ إِنَّكُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْمَوْتِ لَيَقُولَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَذَا إِلاَّ سِحْر ٌ مُبِين ٌ |
| Wa La'in 'Akhkharnā `Anhumu Al-`Adhāba 'Ilá 'Ummatin Ma`dūdatin Layaqūlunna Mā Yaĥbisuhu 'Alā Yawma Ya'tīhim Laysa Maşrūfāan `Anhum Wa Ĥāqa Bihim Mā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ūn | And if We put off their punishment till an appointed time, they are sure to ask: “What is holding it back?” Beware! When the Day of that punishment comes, nothing will hold it back from them and they will be completely encircled by that which they are ridiculing.[11.8] | وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِلَى أُمَّة ٍ مَعْدُودَة ٍ لَيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ~ُ أَلاَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفاً عَنْهُمْ وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِه ِِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون |
| Wa La'in 'Adhaqnā Al-'Insāna Minnā Raĥmatan Thumma Naza`nāhā Minhu 'Innahu Laya'ūsun Kafūrun | If We let man taste any mercy from Us, then withdraw it from him, he becomes despairing, ungrateful.[11.9] | وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَا الإِنسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَة ً ثُمَّ نَزَعْنَاهَا مِنْهُ إِنَّه ُُ لَيَئُوس ٌ كَفُور ٌ |
| Wa La'in 'Adhaqnāhu Na`mā'a Ba`da Đarrā'a Massat/hu Layaqūlanna Dhahaba As-Sayyi'ātu `Annī 'Innahu Lafariĥun Fakhūrun | But if We let him taste any favor after adversity has afflicted him, then he says: “All my sorrows are gone from me,” and he becomes jubilantly arrogant.[11.10] | وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاه ُُ نَعْمَاءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ السَّيِّئَاتُ عَنِّي إِنَّه ُُ لَفَرِح ٌ فَخُور ٌ |
| 'Illā Al-Ladhīna Şabarū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti 'Ūlā'ika Lahum Maghfiratun Wa 'Ajrun Kabīrun | The exception is for those people who are steadfast and do good deeds; they are the ones who will have forgiveness and a great reward.[11.11] | إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُوْلَائِكَ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَة ٌ وَأَجْر ٌ كَبِير ٌ |
| Fala`allaka Tārikun Ba`đa Mā Yūĥá 'Ilayka Wa Đā'iqun Bihi Şadruka 'An Yaqūlū Lawlā 'Unzila `Alayhi Kanzun 'Aw Jā'a Ma`ahu Malakun 'Innamā 'Anta Nadhīrun Wa Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Wa Kīlun | O Prophet, be on your guard lest you omit to recite some things which are being revealed to you feeling distressed in your heart that they might say: “Why has no treasure been sent down to him, or why has no angel come with him?” You should know that you are nothing but a warner! It is Allah Who is the Custodian of everything.[11.12] | فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِك ٌ بَعْضَ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ وَضَائِق ٌ بِه ِِ صَدْرُكَ أَنْ يَقُولُوا لَوْلاَ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنزٌ أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَه ُُ مَلَك ٌ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ نَذِير ٌ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء ٍ وَكِيل ٌ |
| 'Am Yaqūlūna Aftarāhu Qul Fa'tū Bi`ashri Suwarin Mithlihi Muftarayātin Wa Ad`ū Mani Astaţa`tum Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna | Do they say: “He has made up the Qur’an himself." Say to them: "Make up ten Sürahs like this and call to your aid whomsoever you can, including your gods whom you worship besides Allah, if what you say is true.[11.13] | أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاه ُُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِعَشْرِ سُوَر ٍ مِثْلِه ِِ مُفْتَرَيَات ٍ وَادْعُوا مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ |
| Fa'illam Yastajībū Lakum Fā`lamū 'Annamā 'Unzila Bi`ilmi Al-Lahi Wa 'An Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa Fahal 'Antum Muslimūna | But if those gods fail to answer you, then you should know that (they are false gods and that) this (Book) is revealed with the knowledge of Allah, and that there is no god but Him! Will you then become Muslims?”[11.14] | فَإِلَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا أُنزِلَ بِعِلْمِ اللَّهِ وَأَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ~َ إِلاَّ هُوَ فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ |
| Man Kāna Yurīdu Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā Wa Zīnatahā Nuwaffi 'Ilayhim 'A`mālahum Fīhā Wa Hum Fīhā Lā Yubkhasūna | Those who desire the life of this world and its splendors, they are given full reward of their deeds therein and shall not be diminished.[11.15] | مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا نُوَفِّ إِلَيْهِمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُمْ فِيهَا لاَ يُبْخَسُونَ |
| 'Ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Laysa Lahum Fī Al-'Ākhirati 'Illā An-Nāru Wa Ĥabiţa Mā Şana`ū Fīhā Wa Bāţilun Mā Kānū Ya`malūna | They are the ones who will have nothing in the hereafter except Hellfire. There they shall come to know that their deeds were fruitless and their actions were worthless.[11.16] | أُوْلَائِكَ الَّذِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ إِلاَّ النَّارُ وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُوا فِيهَا وَبَاطِل ٌ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| 'Afaman Kāna `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbihi Wa Yatlūhu Shāhidun Minhu Wa Min Qablihi Kitābu Mūsá 'Imāmāan Wa Raĥmatan 'Ūlā'ika Yu'uminūna Bihi Wa Man Yakfur Bihi Mina Al-'Aĥzābi Fālnnāru Maw`iduhu Falā Takun Fī Miryatin Minhu 'Innahu Al-Ĥaqqu Min Rabbika Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Yu'uminūna | Can they be like those who have clear revelations from their Rabb and to whom a witness from Himself recites it, and they have the Book of Musa before them - a guidance and a blessing? Can such people deny the revelation of Al- Qur’an? No of course not, rather such people will believe in this, but those factions who do not believe shall have their promised place in the Hellfire. So, O Prophet, do not be in any doubt about it; it is the Truth from your Rabb, even though most people do not believe so.[11.17] | أَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَى بَيِّنَة ٍ مِنْ رَبِّه ِِ وَيَتْلُوه ُُ شَاهِد ٌ مِنْهُ وَمِنْ قَبْلِه ِِ كِتَابُ مُوسَى إِمَاما ً وَرَحْمَةً أُوْلَائِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِه ِِ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِه ِِ مِنَ الأَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُه ُُ فَلاَ تَكُنْ فِي مِرْيَة ٍ مِنْهُ إِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Wa Man 'Ažlamu Mimmani Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan 'Ūlā'ika Yu`rađūna `Alá Rabbihim Wa Yaqūlu Al-'Ash/hādu Hā'uulā' Al-Ladhīna Kadhabū `Alá Rabbihim 'Alā La`natu Al-Lahi `Alá Až-Žālimīna | Who can be more wrong than the one who forges a lie against Allah? Such people will be brought before their Rabb, and the witnesses will say: “These are the ones who lied against their Rabb." Beware! The Curse of Allah is on those wrongdoers[11.18] | وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً أُوْلَائِكَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ وَيَقُولُ الأَشْهَادُ هَاؤُلاَء الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ أَلاَ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yaşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Yabghūnahā `Iwajāan Wa Hum Bil-'Ākhirati Hum Kāfirūna | who hinder others from the path of Allah and seek to make it crooked, and who deny the hereafter.[11.19] | الَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجا ً وَهُمْ بِالآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ |
| 'Ūlā'ika Lam Yakūnū Mu`jizīna Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Kāna Lahum Min Dūni Al-Lahi Min 'Awliyā'a Yuđā`afu Lahumu Al-`Adhābu Mā Kānū Yastaţī`ūna As-Sam`a Wa Mā Kānū Yubşirūna | These people cannot frustrate His plan in the land and there is none to protect them besides Allah. Their punishment shall be doubled, for they could neither hear others who speak the Truth nor see the Truth for themselves.[11.20] | أُوْلَائِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُوا مُعْجِزِينَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مَا كَانُوا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ السَّمْعَ وَمَا كَانُوا يُبْصِرُونَ |
| 'Ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Khasirū 'Anfusahum Wa Đalla `Anhum Mā Kānū Yaftarūna | They are the ones who have lost their own souls, and the fancies they invented have left them in the lurch.[11.21] | أُوْلَائِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ |
| Lā Jarama 'Annahum Fī Al-'Ākhirati Humu Al-'Akhsarūna | No doubt they will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.[11.22] | لاَ جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ هُمُ الأَخْسَرُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Wa 'Akhbatū 'Ilá Rabbihim 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu Al-Jannati Hum Fīhā Khālidūna | As for those who believe and do good deeds and humble themselves before their Rabb, they will be residents of paradise to live therein forever.[11.23] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَأَخْبَتُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ |
| Mathalu Al-Farīqayni Kāl'a`má Wa Al-'Aşammi Wa Al-Başīri Wa As-Samī`i Hal Yastawiyāni Mathalāan 'Afalā Tadhakkarūna | The example of these two kinds of people is like two men, one of whom is blind and deaf, and the other who can see and hear. Are they equal when compared? Will you not then learn a lesson from this example?[11.24] | مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ كَالأَعْمَى وَالأَصَمِّ وَالْبَصِيرِ وَالسَّمِيعِ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلاً أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُونَ |
| Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan 'Ilá Qawmihi 'Innī Lakum Nadhīrun Mubīnun | We sent Nüh to his people. Nüh said: “I have come to warn you plainly,[11.25] | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحا ً إِلَى قَوْمِهِ~ِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِير ٌ مُبِين ٌ |
| 'An Lā Ta`budū 'Illā Al-Laha 'Innī 'Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin 'Alīmin | not to worship anyone except Allah; otherwise I am afraid for you the punishment of a painful Day."[11.26] | أَنْ لاَ تَعْبُدُوا إِلاَّ اللَّهَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ أَلِيم ٍ |
| Faqāla Al-Mala'u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qawmihi Mā Narāka 'Illā Basharāan Mithlanā Wa Mā Narāka Attaba`aka 'Illā Al-Ladhīna Hum 'Arādhilunā Bādiya Ar-Ra'yi Wa Mā Nará Lakum `Alaynā Min Fađlin Bal Nažunnukum Kādhibīna | In answer to this, the chiefs of the unbelievers among his people said: “We see you as no more than merely a human being like ourselves: and we see that no one has followed you except the meanest among us, whose judgement abilities are immature, and we find nothing in you which gives you superiority over us: in fact we think that you are a liar."[11.27] | فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِه ِِ مَا نَرَاكَ إِلاَّ بَشَرا ً مِثْلَنَا وَمَا نَرَاكَ اتَّبَعَكَ إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ هُمْ أَرَاذِلُنَا بَادِيَ الرَّأْيِ وَمَا نَرَى لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْل ٍ بَلْ نَظُنُّكُمْ كَاذِبِينَ |
| Qāla Yā Qawmi 'Ara'aytum 'In Kuntu `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbī Wa 'Ātānī Raĥmatan Min `Indihi Fa`ummiyat `Alaykum 'Anulzimukumūhā Wa 'Antum Lahā Kārihūna | He said: “O my people, look! If I am given clear proof from my Rabb, and He has bestowed on me His grace, although it be hidden from you, can we compel you to accept it against your will?[11.28] | قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنتُ عَلَى بَيِّنَة ٍ مِنْ رَبِّي وَآتَانِي رَحْمَة ً مِنْ عِنْدِه ِِ فَعُمِّيَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ لَهَا كَارِهُونَ |
| Wa Yāqawmi Lā 'As'alukum `Alayhi Mālāan 'In 'Ajriya 'Illā `Alá Al-Lahi Wa Mā 'Anā Biţāridi Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Innahum Mulāqū Rabbihim Wa Lakinnī 'Arākum Qawmāan Tajhalūna | O my people! I do not ask you any wealth for this work, for none but Allah can reward me. I am not going to drive away those who believe; for they will surely meet their Rabb. But I can see that you are acting out of ignorance.[11.29] | وَيَاقَوْمِ لاَ أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مَالا ً إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلاَّ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّهُمْ مُلاَقُو رَبِّهِمْ وَلَكِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ قَوْما ً تَجْهَلُونَ |
| Wa Yāqawmi Man Yanşurunī Mina Al-Lahi 'In Ţaradtuhum 'Afalā Tadhakkarūna | And O my people! Who will save me from Allah, if I drive them away? Don’t you understand this simple thing?[11.30] | وَيَاقَوْمِ مَنْ يَنصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ طَرَدْتُهُمْ أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُونَ |
| Wa Lā 'Aqūlu Lakum `Indī Khazā'inu Al-Lahi Wa Lā 'A`lamu Al-Ghayba Wa Lā 'Aqūlu 'Innī Malakun Wa Lā 'Aqūlu Lilladhīna Tazdarī 'A`yunukum Lan Yu'utiyahumu Al-Lahu Khayrāan Al-Lahu 'A`lamu Bimā Fī 'Anfusihim 'Innī 'Idhāan Lamina Až-Žālimīna | I do not say that I possess the Treasures of Allah, nor do I say that I have knowledge of the unseen, nor do I claim to be an angel; nor do I say of those who are mean in your eyes, that Allah will not grant them any good - Allah knows best what is in their hearts - for if I utter any thing like this, then I will indeed become a wrongdoer."[11.31] | وَلاَ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِي خَزَائِنُ اللَّهِ وَلاَ أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ وَلاَ أَقُولُ إِنِّي مَلَك ٌ وَلاَ أَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ تَزْدَرِي أَعْيُنُكُمْ لَنْ يُؤْتِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ خَيْرا ً اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ إِنِّي إِذا ً لَمِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Qālū Yā Nūĥu Qad Jādaltanā Fa'aktharta Jidālanā Fa'tinā Bimā Ta`idunā 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna | They said: “O Nüh! You have argued with us and argued too much, now bring upon us the scourge with which you threaten us, if what you say is true."[11.32] | قَالُوا يَانُوحُ قَدْ جَادَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَالَنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ |
| Qāla 'Innamā Ya'tīkum Bihi Al-Lahu 'In Shā'a Wa Mā 'Antum Bimu`jizīna | He replied: “ Allah will surely bring it on you if He pleases and then you will not be able to escape from it![11.33] | قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَأْتِيكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ إِنْ شَاءَ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ |
| Wa Lā Yanfa`ukum Nuşĥī 'In 'Aradtu 'An 'Anşaĥa Lakum 'In Kāna Al-Lahu Yurīdu 'An Yughwiyakum Huwa Rabbukum Wa 'Ilayhi Turja`ūna | My counsel will not profit you, much as I desire to give you good counsel, if Allah wants to leave you astray; He is your Rabb, and to Him you shall return." [11.34] | وَلاَ يَنفَعُكُمْ نُصْحِي إِنْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَنصَحَ لَكُمْ إِنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُغْوِيَكُمْ هُوَ رَبُّكُمْ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ |
| 'Am Yaqūlūna Aftarāhu Qul 'Ini Aftaraytuhu Fa`alayya 'Ijrāmī Wa 'Anā Barī'un Mimmā Tujrimūna | Do the unbelievers say “He (Muhammad) himself has forged all this?” Say to them: “If I have indeed forged it, then its sin is on me! And I am clear of the sins which you are committing for not believing it."[11.35] | أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاه ُُ قُلْ إِنِ افْتَرَيْتُه ُُ فَعَلَيَّ إِجْرَامِي وَأَنَا بَرِيء ٌ مِمَّا تُجْرِمُونَ |
| Wa 'Ūĥiya 'Ilá Nūĥin 'Annahu Lan Yu'umina Min Qawmika 'Illā Man Qad 'Āmana Falā Tabta'is Bimā Kānū Yaf`alūna | And it was revealed to Nüh: “None of your people will believe now, other than those who have already believed. So do not grieve at their evil deeds.[11.36] | وَأُوحِيَ إِلَى نُوحٍ أَنَّه ُُ لَنْ يُؤْمِنَ مِنْ قَوْمِكَ إِلاَّ مَنْ قَدْ آمَنَ فَلاَ تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ |
| Wa Aşna`i Al-Fulka Bi'a`yuninā Wa Waĥyinā Wa Lā Tukhāţibnī Fī Al-Ladhīna Žalamū 'Innahum Mughraqūna | Build an ark under Our supervision in accordance with Our revelation, and beware not to plead with Me on behalf of those who are wrongdoers: for they are all to be drowned in the flood."[11.37] | وَاصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا وَلاَ تُخَاطِبْنِي فِي الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا إِنَّهُمْ مُغْرَقُونَ |
| Wa Yaşna`u Al-Fulka Wa Kullamā Marra `Alayhi Mala'un Min Qawmihi Sakhirū Minhu Qāla 'In Taskharū Minnā Fa'innā Naskharu Minkum Kamā Taskharūna | So he started to build the ark; and whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him they laughed at him. He said: “Laugh at us now if you will, soon the time is going to come when we too will laugh at you as you are laughing at us.[11.38] | وَيَصْنَعُ الْفُلْكَ وَكُلَّمَا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ مَلَأ ٌ مِنْ قَوْمِه ِِ سَخِرُوا مِنْهُ قَالَ إِنْ تَسْخَرُوا مِنَّا فَإِنَّا نَسْخَرُ مِنْكُمْ كَمَا تَسْخَرُونَ |
| Fasawfa Ta`lamūna Man Ya'tīhi `Adhābun Yukhzīhi Wa Yaĥillu `Alayhi `Adhābun Muqīmun | Soon you will come to know who will be seized by a humiliating scourge, and who is afflicted with everlasting punishment."[11.39] | فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ يَأْتِيه ِِ عَذَاب ٌ يُخْزِيه ِِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَاب ٌ مُقِيم ٌ |
| Ĥattá 'Idhā Jā'a 'Amrunā Wa Fāra At-Tannūru Qulnā Aĥmil Fīhā Min Kullin Zawjayni Athnayni Wa 'Ahlaka 'Illā Man Sabaqa `Alayhi Al-Qawlu Wa Man 'Āmana Wa Mā 'Āmana Ma`ahu 'Illā Qalīlun | Finally when Our Command came and the water from Al-Tannür (a particular oven marked as a starting point to warn Nüh in order to get him ready to board the ark) gushed forth! We said to Nüh: “Take into the Ark a pair from every species, your family - except those against whom the Word has already gone forth - and the believers and those who believed with him were only a few."[11.40] | حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ قُلْنَا احْمِلْ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلّ ٍ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلاَّ مَنْ سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ وَمَنْ آمَنَ وَمَا آمَنَ مَعَهُ~ُ إِلاَّ قَلِيل ٌ |
| Wa Qāla Arkabū Fīhā Bismi Al-Lahi Majrāhā Wa Mursāhā 'Inna Rabbī Laghafūrun Raĥīmun | Thus he said: “Embark in it, in the name of Allah in whose hands is its sailing and its stopping; surely my Rabb is Forgiving, Merciful."[11.41] | وَقَالَ ارْكَبُوا فِيهَا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ مَجْرَاهَا وَمُرْسَاهَا إِنَّ رَبِّي لَغَفُور ٌ رَحِيم ٌ |
| Wa Hiya Tajrī Bihim Fī Mawjin Kāljibāli Wa Nādá Nūĥun Abnahu Wa Kāna Fī Ma`zilin Yā Bunayya Arkab Ma`anā Wa Lā Takun Ma`a Al-Kāfirīna | As the ark floated with them on board over the mountainous waves and Nüh called out to his son, who stood apart: “O my son! Embark with us and be not with the unbelievers!”[11.42] | وَهِيَ تَجْرِي بِهِمْ فِي مَوْج ٍ كَالْجِبَالِ وَنَادَى نُوح ٌ ابْنَه ُُ وَكَانَ فِي مَعْزِل ٍ يَابُنَيَّ ارْكَبْ مَعَنَا وَلاَ تَكُنْ مَعَ الْكَافِرِينَ |
| Qāla Sa'āwī 'Ilá Jabalin Ya`şimunī Mina Al-Mā'i Qāla Lā `Āşima Al-Yawma Min 'Amri Al-Lahi 'Illā Man Raĥima Wa Ĥāla Baynahumā Al-Mawju Fakāna Mina Al-Mughraqīna | He replied: “I will take refuge on some mountain, which will save me from the flood." Nüh said: “None shall be secure today from the judgement of Allah, except the one on whom He has mercy!” And thereupon a wave came between them and he (Nüh’s son) became among one of those who drowned.[11.43] | قَالَ سَآوِي إِلَى جَبَل ٍ يَعْصِمُنِي مِنَ الْمَاءِ قَالَ لاَ عَاصِمَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ وَحَالَ بَيْنَهُمَا الْمَوْجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُغْرَقِينَ |
| Wa Qīla Yā 'Arđu Abla`ī Mā'aki Wa Yā Samā'u 'Aqli`ī Wa Ghīđa Al-Mā'u Wa Quđiya Al-'Amru Wa Astawat `Alá Al-Jūdīyi Wa Qīla Bu`dāan Lilqawmi Až-Žālimīna | Finally, Allah said: “O earth! Swallow up your water," and "O sky! Cease your rain." The floodwater abated and the judgement was carried out. The ark rested on Mount Al-Jüdi and it was said: “Gone are the wrongdoing people!”[11.44] | وَقِيلَ يَاأَرْضُ ابْلَعِي مَاءَكِ وَيَاسَمَاءُ أَقْلِعِي وَغِيضَ الْمَاءُ وَقُضِيَ الأَمْرُ وَاسْتَوَتْ عَلَى الْجُودِيِّ وَقِيلَ بُعْدا ً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Wa Nādá Nūĥun Rabbahu Faqāla Rabbi 'Inna Abnī Min 'Ahlī Wa 'Inna Wa`daka Al-Ĥaqqu Wa 'Anta 'Aĥkamu Al-Ĥākimīna | Nüh called out to his Rabb saying: “O my Rabb! My son is of my family, and surely Your promise is true and You are the most just of all Judges!”[11.45] | وَنَادَى نُوح ٌ رَبَّه ُُ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ ابْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِي وَإِنَّ وَعْدَكَ الْحَقُّ وَأَنْتَ أَحْكَمُ الْحَاكِمِينَ |
| Qāla Yā Nūĥu 'Innahu Laysa Min 'Ahlika 'Innahu `Amalun Ghayru Şāliĥin Falā Tas'alni Mā Laysa Laka Bihi `Ilmun 'Innī 'A`ižuka 'An Takūna Mina Al-Jāhilīna | Allah replied: “O Nüh! In fact he is not of your family; for he is not of righteous conduct. So do not ask Me anything of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you become one of the ignorant!” [11.46] | قَالَ يَانُوحُ إِنَّه ُُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ إِنَّه ُُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَالِح ٍ فَلاَ تَسْأَلْنِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِه ِِ عِلْم ٌ إِنِّي أَعِظُكَ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ |
| Qāla Rabbi 'Innī 'A`ūdhu Bika 'An 'As'alaka Mā Laysa Lī Bihi `Ilmun Wa 'Illā Taghfir Lī Wa Tarĥamnī 'Akun Mina Al-Khāsirīna | Nüh said: “My Rabb! I seek refuge in You for asking You that of which I have no knowledge; and unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I shall surely be lost!”[11.47] | قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِه ِِ عِلْم ٌ وَإِلاَّ تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُنْ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ |
| Qīla Yā Nūĥu Ahbiţ Bisalāmin Minnā Wa Barakātin `Alayka Wa `Alá 'Umamin Mimman Ma`aka Wa 'Umamun Sanumatti`uhum Thumma Yamassuhum Minnā `Adhābun 'Alīmun | It was said: “O Nüh! Disembark (from the ark) with Our peace and blessings on you and on the peoples who are with you. As for other people, We shall grant them the provisions of life for some time, and if they do not behave righteously, then they shall have a painful punishment from Us."[11.48] | قِيلَ يَا نُوحُ اهْبِطْ بِسَلاَم ٍ مِنَّا وَبَرَكَاتٍ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أُمَم ٍ مِمَّنْ مَعَكَ وَأُمَم ٌ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ ثُمَّ يَمَسُّهُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيم ٌ |
| Tilka Min 'Anbā'i Al-Ghaybi Nūĥīhā 'Ilayka Mā Kunta Ta`lamuhā 'Anta Wa Lā Qawmuka Min Qabli Hādhā Fāşbir 'Inna Al-`Āqibata Lilmuttaqīna | O Muhammad, these are some of the facts from the unseen history which We have now revealed to you: neither you nor your people knew about it before. So have patience; surely the end is for the righteous.[11.49] | تِلْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهَا إِلَيْكَ مَا كُنتَ تَعْلَمُهَا أَنْتَ وَلاَ قَوْمُكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ هَذَا فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ العَاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ |
| Wa 'Ilá `Ādin 'Akhāhum Hūdāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu 'In 'Antum 'Illā Muftarūna | To the people of ‘Ad We sent their brother Hüd. He said: “O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god but Him; otherwise you are just making things up.[11.50] | وَإِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودا ً قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَه ٍٍ غَيْرُهُ~ُ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلاَّ مُفْتَرُونَ |
| Yā Qawmi Lā 'As'alukum `Alayhi 'Ajrāan 'In 'Ajriya 'Illā `Alá Al-Ladhī Faţaranī 'Afalā Ta`qilūna | O my people! I do not ask you any reward for my services; for none can reward me except my Creator. Will you not then use your common sense?[11.51] | يَا قَوْمِ لاَ أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرا ً إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلاَّ عَلَى الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ |
| Wa Yā Qawmi Astaghfirū Rabbakum Thumma Tūbū 'Ilayhi Yursili As-Samā'a `Alaykum Midrārāan Wa Yazidkum Qūwatan 'Ilá Qūwatikum Wa Lā Tatawallaw Mujrimīna | And O my people! Seek forgiveness of your Rabb and turn to Him in repentance. He will send you from the sky abundant rain and He will add strength to your strength. So do not turn away like criminals." [11.52] | وَيَا قَوْمِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَارا ً وَيَزِدْكُمْ قُوَّة ً إِلَى قُوَّتِكُمْ وَلاَ تَتَوَلَّوْا مُجْرِمِينَ |
| Qālū Yā Hūdu Mā Ji'tanā Bibayyinatin Wa Mā Naĥnu Bitārikī 'Ālihatinā `An Qawlika Wa Mā Naĥnu Laka Bimu'uminīna | They said: “O Hüd! You have given us no clear proof. We are neither going to desert our gods just on your word, nor we are going to believe in you.[11.53] | قَالُوا يَا هُودُ مَا جِئْتَنَا بِبَيِّنَة ٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِي آلِهَتِنَا عَنْ قَوْلِكَ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| 'In Naqūlu 'Illā A`tarāka Ba`đu 'Ālihatinā Bisū'in Qāla 'Innī 'Ush/hidu Al-Laha Wa Ash/hadū 'Annī Barī'un Mimmā Tushrikūna | We rather believe that perhaps some of our gods have afflicted you with evil." He said: “Allah is my witness and let you also be my witness that I am done with your shirk of worshipping other deities besides Him.[11.54] | إِنْ نَقُولُ إِلاَّ اعْتَرَاكَ بَعْضُ آلِهَتِنَا بِسُوء ٍ قَالَ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُ اللَّهَ وَاشْهَدُوا أَنِّي بَرِيء ٌ مِمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ |
| Min Dūnihi Fakīdūnī Jamī`āan Thumma Lā Tunžirūni | So let all of you scheme against me if you will, and give me no respite.[11.55] | مِنْ دُونِه ِِ فَكِيدُونِي جَمِيعا ً ثُمَّ لاَ تُنْظِرُونِ |
| 'Innī Tawakkaltu `Alá Al-Lahi Rabbī Wa Rabbikum Mā Min Dābbatin 'Illā Huwa 'Ākhidhun Bināşiyatihā 'Inna Rabbī `Alá Şirāţin Mustaqīmin | I have put my trust in Allah, Who is my Rabb and your Rabb. There is no living creature (in the earth) whose destiny is not controlled by Him. Indeed straight is the Way of my Rabb.[11.56] | إِنِّي تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ مَا مِنْ دَابَّة ٍ إِلاَّ هُوَ آخِذ ٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى صِرَاط ٍ مُسْتَقِيم ٍ |
| Fa'in Tawallaw Faqad 'Ablaghtukum Mā 'Ursiltu Bihi 'Ilaykum Wa Yastakhlifu Rabbī Qawmāan Ghayrakum Wa Lā Tađurrūnahu Shay'āan 'Inna Rabbī `Alá Kulli Shay'in Ĥafīžun | Now, even if you turn away, I have at least conveyed the message with which I was sent to you. Since you have denied Him, my Rabb will raise up some other people in your place, and you cannot harm Him in any way. Indeed my Rabb is watching over everything."[11.57] | فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ مَا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ~ِ إِلَيْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّي قَوْماً غَيْرَكُمْ وَلاَ تَضُرُّونَه ُُ شَيْئا ً إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِيظ ٌ |
| Wa Lammā Jā'a 'Amrunā Najjaynā Hūdāan Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Ma`ahu Biraĥmatin Minnā Wa Najjaynāhum Min `Adhābin Ghalīžin | When Our judgement came to pass, We saved Hüd and those who believed with him through a special grace from Us - We did save them from a horrifying scourge.[11.58] | وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا هُودا ً وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَه ُُ بِرَحْمَة ٍ مِنَّا وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظ ٍ |
| Wa Tilka `Ādun Jaĥadū Bi'āyāti Rabbihim Wa `Aşaw Rusulahu Wa Attaba`ū 'Amra Kulli Jabbārin `Anīdin | Such were the people of 'Ad. They denied the revelations of their Rabb, disobeyed His Rasool, and followed the command of every stubborn oppressor. [11.59] | وَتِلْكَ عَاد ٌ جَحَدُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا رُسُلَه ُُ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيد ٍ |
| Wa 'Utbi`ū Fī Hadhihi Ad-Dunyā La`natan Wa Yawma Al-Qiyāmati 'Alā 'Inna `Ādāan Kafarū Rabbahum 'Alā Bu`dāan Li`ādin Qawmi Hūdin | They were followed by a curse in this world, and cursed they shall be on the Day of Resurrection. Beware! 'Ad denied their Rabb. Beware! Gone are 'Ad, the people of Hüd.[11.60] | وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَة ً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلاَ إِنَّ عَادا ً كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ أَلاَ بُعْدا ً لِعَاد ٍ قَوْمِ هُود ٍ |
| Wa 'Ilá Thamūda 'Akhāhum Şāliĥāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu Huwa 'Ansha'akum Mina Al-'Arđi Wa Asta`marakum Fīhā Fāstaghfirūhu Thumma Tūbū 'Ilayhi 'Inna Rabbī Qarībun Mujībun | To the Thamüd people, We sent their brother Saleh. He said: “O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god but Him. It is He Who created you from the earth and made it a dwelling place for you. So seek forgiveness from Him and turn to Him in repentance. Surely my Rabb is very close, ready to answer."[11.61] | وَإِلَى ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحا ً قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَه ٍٍ غَيْرُه ُُ هُوَ أَنشَأَكُمْ مِنَ الأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاسْتَغْفِرُوه ُُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ إِنَّ رَبِّي قَر |
