| 'Alif-Lām-Mīm-Şād | Alif L'مm M'ïm Suمd.[7.1] | أَلِف-لَام-مِيم-صَاد |
| Kitābun 'Unzila 'Ilayka Falā Yakun Fī Şadrika Ĥarajun Minhu Litundhira Bihi Wa Dhikrá Lilmu'uminīna | This Book is revealed to you; let there be no hesitation in your heart about it so that you may thereby warn the unbelievers and remind the believers.[7.2] | كِتَابٌ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ فَلاَ يَكُنْ فِي صَدْرِكَ حَرَجٌ مِنْهُ لِتُنذِرَ بِهِِ وَذِكْرَى لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Attabi`ū Mā 'Unzila 'Ilaykum Min Rabbikum Wa Lā Tattabi`ū Min Dūnihi 'Awliyā'a Qalīlāan Mā Tadhakkarūna | Say: "O people, follow what has been brought down to you from your Rabb and do not follow other patrons besides Him." Yet little do they take admonition.[7.3] | اتَّبِعُوا مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ قَلِيلاً مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ |
| Wa Kam Min Qaryatin 'Ahlaknāhā Fajā'ahā Ba'sunā Bayātāan 'Aw Hum Qā'ilūna | How many towns have We destroyed for their sins? Our scourge took them all of a sudden at night or while they were taking their afternoon rest,[7.4] | وَكَمْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا فَجَاءَهَا بَأْسُنَا بَيَاتاً أَوْ هُمْ قَائِلُونَ |
| Famā Kāna Da`wāhum 'Idh Jā'ahum Ba'sunā 'Illā 'An Qālū 'Innā Kunnā Žālimīna | and when our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was: “We have indeed been wrongdoers."[7.5] | فَمَا كَانَ دَعْوَاهُمْ إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا إِلاَّ أَنْ قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ |
| Falanas'alanna Al-Ladhīna 'Ursila 'Ilayhim Wa Lanas'alanna Al-Mursalīna | On the Day of Judgment We shall question those to whom Rasools were sent and We shall also question the Rasools about Our message and its response.[7.6] | فَلَنَسْأَلَنَّ الَّذِينَ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَنَسْأَلَنَّ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| Falanaquşşanna `Alayhim Bi`ilmin Wa Mā Kunnā Ghā'ibīna | Then We shall tell their whole story as an eye witness for We were never absent at any time or from any place.[7.7] | فَلَنَقُصَّنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ بِعِلْمٍ وَمَا كُنَّا غَائِبِينَ |
| Wa Al-Waznu Yawma'idhin Al-Ĥaqqu Faman Thaqulat Mawāzīnuhu Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna | On that Day, the scale of justice shall be established. Those whose scale of good deeds will be heavy, they are the ones who will attain felicity,[7.8] | وَالْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ فَمَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُُفَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ |
| Wa Man Khaffat Mawāzīnuhu Fa'ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Khasirū 'Anfusahum Bimā Kānū Bi'āyātinā Yažlimūna | and those whose scale is light, they shall find themselves in loss for they had done injustice to Our revelations.[7.9] | وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُُفَأُوْلَائِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَظْلِمُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Makkannākum Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Ja`alnā Lakum Fīhā Ma`āyisha Qalīlāan Mā Tashkurūna | We are the One Who established you on earth, and provided you means of your sustenance therein: yet little it is that you pay thanks.[7.10] | وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ قَلِيلاً مَا تَشْكُرُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Khalaqnākum Thumma Şawwarnākum Thumma Qulnā Lilmalā'ikati Asjudū Li'dama Fasajadū 'Illā 'Iblīsa Lam Yakun Mina As-Sājidīna | Indeed We created you, then We fashioned you, then We asked the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam." They all prostrated accordingly except Iblees (Shaitمn) who did not join those who prostrated.[7.11] | وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ ثُمَّ صَوَّرْنَاكُمْ ثُمَّ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلاَئِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِأدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِدِينَ |
| Qāla Mā Mana`aka 'Allā Tasjuda 'Idh 'Amartuka Qāla 'Anā Khayrun Minhu Khalaqtanī Min Nārin Wa Khalaqtahu Min Ţīnin | Allah said: “What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?” He replied: “I am better than he; you created me from fire and him from clay.”[7.12] | قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلاَّ تَسْجُدَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نَارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُُمِنْ طِينٍ |
| Qāla Fāhbiţ Minhā Famā Yakūnu Laka 'An Tatakabbara Fīhā Fākhruj 'Innaka Mina Aş-Şāghirīna | Allah said: “Get down from here. You have no right to brag here of your superiority. Get out, henceforth you are of the petty ones."[7.13] | قَالَ فَاهْبِطْ مِنْهَا فَمَا يَكُونُ لَكَ أَنْ تَتَكَبَّرَ فِيهَا فَاخْرُجْ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ |
| Qāla 'Anžirnī 'Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna | Shaitمn requested: “Give me respite till the Day of Resurrection."[7.14] | قَالَ أَنظِرْنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ |
| Qāla 'Innaka Mina Al-Munžarīna | Allah said: “The respite you requested is hereby granted."[7.15] | قَالَ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ |
| Qāla Fabimā 'Aghwaytanī La'aq`udanna Lahum Şirāţaka Al-Mustaqīma | Shaitمn declared: “Since You let me deviate, now I will lie in ambush for mankind on Your Right Way.[7.16] | قَالَ فَبِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأَقْعُدَنَّ لَهُمْ صِرَاطَكَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ |
| Thumma La'ātiyannahum Min Bayni 'Aydīhim Wa Min Khalfihim Wa `An 'Aymānihim Wa `An Shamā'ilihim Wa Lā Tajidu 'Aktharahum Shākirīna | I Will come upon them from the front, from the rear, from the right, and from the left, and You will not find most of them to be grateful."[7.17] | ثُمَّ لَآتِيَنَّهُمْ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ وَعَنْ أَيْمَانِهِمْ وَعَنْ شَمَائِلِهِمْ وَلاَ تَجِدُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ شَاكِرِينَ |
| Qāla Akhruj Minhā Madh'ūmāan Madĥūrāan Laman Tabi`aka Minhum La'amla'anna Jahannama Minkum 'Ajma`īna | Allah said: “Get out from here, you despicable outcast; I will certainly fill hell with you and all of them who follow you."[7.18] | قَالَ اخْرُجْ مِنْهَا مَذْءُوماً مَدْحُوراً لَمَنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنْكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ |
| Wa Yā'ādamu Askun 'Anta Wa Zawjuka Al-Jannata Fakulā Min Ĥaythu Shi'tumā Wa Lā Taqrabā Hadhihi Ash-Shajarata Fatakūnā Mina Až-Žālimīna | Allah said: "O Adam! Dwell with your wife in paradise and eat any fruit you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become wrongdoers."[7.19] | وَيَاآدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ فَكُلاَ مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلاَ تَقْرَبَا هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Fawaswasa Lahumā Ash-Shayţānu Liyubdiya Lahumā Mā Wūriya `Anhumā Min Saw'ātihimā Wa Qāla Mā Nahākumā Rabbukumā `An Hadhihi Ash-Shajarati 'Illā 'An Takūnā Malakayni 'Aw Takūnā Mina Al-Khālidīna | But Shaitمn tempted them so that he might reveal to them the private parts of their bodies which they had never seen before. He told them: “Your Rabb has forbidden you to approach this tree only to prevent you from becoming angels or immortals."[7.20] | فَوَسْوَسَ لَهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ لِيُبْدِيَ لَهُمَا مَا وُورِيَ عَنْهُمَا مِنْ سَوْآتِهِمَا وَقَالَ مَا نَهَاكُمَا رَبُّكُمَا عَنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَكُونَا مَلَكَيْنِ أَوْ تَكُونَا مِنَ الْخَالِدِينَ |
| Wa Qāsamahumā 'Innī Lakumā Lamina An-Nāşiĥīna | And he swore to them both: “I am your sincere adviser."[7.21] | وَقَاسَمَهُمَا إِنِّي لَكُمَا لَمِنَ النَّاصِحِينَ |
| Fadallāhumā Bighurūrin Falammā Dhāqā Ash-Shajarata Badat Lahumā Saw'ātuhumā Wa Ţafiqā Yakhşifāni `Alayhimā Min Waraqi Al-Jannati Wa Nādāhumā Rabbuhumā 'Alam 'Anhakumā `An Tilkumā Ash-Shajarati Wa 'Aqul Lakumā 'Inna Ash-Shayţāna Lakumā `Adūwun Mubīnun | Thus he cunningly seduced them, and when they ate from the tree, their shame became visible to them and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of the garden. Then their Rabb called out to them: “Did I not forbid you to approach that tree, and did not I warn you that Shaitمn was your open enemy?”[7.22] | فَدَلاَّهُمَا بِغُرُورٍ فَلَمَّا ذَاقَا الشَّجَرَةَ بَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْآتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ وَنَادَاهُمَا رَبُّهُمَا أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمَا عَنْ تِلْكُمَا الشَّجَرَةِ وَأَقُلْ لَكُمَا إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَكُمَا عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ |
| Qālā Rabbanā Žalamnā 'Anfusanā Wa 'In Lam Taghfir Lanā Wa Tarĥamnā Lanakūnanna Mina Al-Khāsirīna | They both replied: “Our Rabb! We have wronged our souls. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall certainly be of the losers.”[7.23] | قَالاَ رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ |
| Qāla Ahbiţū Ba`đukum Liba`đin `Adūwun Wa Lakum Fī Al-'Arđi Mustaqarrun Wa Matā`un 'Ilá Ĥīnin | Allah said: “Go down, some of you are the enemy of others. The Earth will be your dwelling-place and your means of livelihood for a fixed term.”[7.24] | قَالَ اهْبِطُوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ وَلَكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَى حِينٍ |
| Qāla Fīhā Taĥyawna Wa Fīhā Tamūtūna Wa Minhā Tukhrajūna | He further said: “Therein you shall live and therein you shall die, and therefrom you shall be raised to life."[7.25] | قَالَ فِيهَا تَحْيَوْنَ وَفِيهَا تَمُوتُونَ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرَجُونَ |
| Yā Banī 'Ādama Qad 'Anzalnā `Alaykum Libāsāan Yuwārī Saw''ātikum Wa Rīshāan Wa Libāsu At-Taqwá Dhālika Khayrun Dhālika Min 'Āyā Ti Al-Lahi La`allahum Yadhdhakkarūna | O children of Adam! We have sent down to you clothing to cover your nakedness and as an adornment, however, the best clothing is the clothing of piety. This is one of Allah’s revelations so that the people may learn a lesson.[7.26] | يَابَنِي آدَمَ قَدْ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاساً يُوَارِي سَوْءآتِكُمْ وَرِيشاً وَلِبَاسُ التَّقْوَى ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ ذَلِكَ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ |
| Yā Banī 'Ādama Lā Yaftinannakumu Ash-Shayţānu Kamā 'Akhraja 'Abawaykum Mina Al-Jannati Yanzi`u `Anhumā Libāsahumā Liyuriyahumā Saw''ātihimā 'Innahu Yarākum Huwa Wa Qabīluhu Min Ĥaythu Lā Tarawnahum 'Innā Ja`alnā Ash-Shayā Ţīna 'Awliyā 'A Lilladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna | O children of Adam! Let not Shaitمn seduce you in the same manner as he seduced your parents out of paradise through stripping them of their clothing in order to expose their nakedness. He and his tribe watch you from where you cannot see them. We have permitted the shaitمns to be the guardians over the unbelievers.[7.27] | يَابَنِي آدَمَ لاَ يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ كَمَا أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ يَنزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْءآتِهِمَا إِنَّهُُيَرَاكُمْ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُُمِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ تَرَوْنَهُمْ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا الشَّيَاطِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ لِلَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Fa`alū Fāĥishatan Qālū Wajadnā `Alayhā 'Ābā'anā Wa Allāhu 'Amaranā Bihā Qul 'Inna Al-Laha Lā Ya'muru Bil-Faĥshā'i 'Ataqūlūna `Alá Al-Lahi Mā Lā Ta`lamūna | Whenever they commit a shameful deed, they say: “We found our forefathers doing this and Allah Himself has commanded us to do so." Tell them: “Nay! Allah never commands what is shameful. Do you attribute to Allah something about which you have no knowledge?”[7.28] | وَإِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً قَالُوا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَا آبَاءَنَا وَاللَّهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَا قُلْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَاءِ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Qul 'Amara Rabbī Bil-Qisţi Wa 'Aqīmū Wujūhakum `Inda Kulli Masjidin Wa Ad`ūhu Mukhlişīna Lahu Ad-Dīna Kamā Bada'akum Ta`ūdūna | O Muhammad, say to them: “My Rabb has commanded justice and that you set your faces in the right direction at the time of every prayer and call on Him with true devotion. You shall return to Him as He created you in the beginning."[7.29] | قُلْ أَمَرَ رَبِّي بِالْقِسْطِ وَأَقِيمُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَادْعُوهُُمُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ كَمَا بَدَأَكُمْ تَعُودُونَ |
| Farīqāan Hadá Wa Farīqāan Ĥaqqa `Alayhimu Ađ-Đalālatu 'Innahumu Attakhadhū Ash-Shayāţīna 'Awliyā'a Min Dūni Al-Lahi Wa Yaĥsabūna 'Annahum Muhtadūna | To one group He has guided while the other group deserved to be left in error due to their own choice; for they took the shaitمns for their protectors instead of Allah, yet they think that they are guided.[7.30] | فَرِيقاً هَدَى وَفَرِيقاً حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الضَّلاَلَةُ إِنَّهُمُ اتَّخَذُوا الشَّيَاطِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ |
| Yā Banī 'Ādama Khudhū Zīnatakum `Inda Kulli Masjidin Wa Kulū Wa Ashrabū Wa Lā Tusrifū 'Innahu Lā Yuĥibbu Al-Musrifīna | O Children of Adam! Put on your adornment (proper and decent dress) when you attend your Masjid at the time of every prayer. Eat and drink, but do not be extravagant; surely He does not love the extravagant.[7.31] | يَابَنِي آدَمَ خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلاَ تُسْرِفُوا إِنَّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ |
| Qul Man Ĥarrama Zīnata Al-Lahi Allatī 'Akhraja Li`ibādihi Wa Aţ-Ţayyibāti Mina Ar-Rizqi Qul Hiya Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Fī Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Khālişatan Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Kadhālika Nufaşşilu Al-'Āyāti Liqawmin Ya`lamūna | O Muhammad, ask them: "Who has forbidden you to wear decent clothes or to eat the good food which Allah has provided for His devotees?" Say: "All these things are for the enjoyment of the believers in the life of this world though shared by others; but these shall be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection. Thus do We make Our revelations clear for those who understand."[7.32] | قُلْ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِِ وَالطَّيِّبَاتِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ قُلْ هِيَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا خَالِصَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Qul 'Innamā Ĥarrama Rabbiya Al-Fawāĥisha Mā Žahara Minhā Wa Mā Baţana Wa Al-'Ithma Wa Al-Baghya Bighayri Al-Ĥaqqi Wa 'An Tushrikū Bil-Lahi Mā Lam Yunazzil Bihi Sulţānāan Wa 'An Taqūlū `Alá Al-Lahi Mā Lā Ta`lamūna | Say: "My Rabb has forbidden all indecencies whether open or secret, sin and rebellion against justice, committing shirk with Allah for which He has granted no sanction, and saying things about Allah of which you have no knowledge.[7.33] | قُلْ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَالإِثْمَ وَالْبَغْيَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَأَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِِ سُلْطَاناً وَأَنْ تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Wa Likulli 'Ummatin 'Ajalun Fa'idhā Jā'a 'Ajaluhum Lā Yasta'khirūna Sā`atan Wa Lā Yastaqdimūna | For every nation there is a fixed term, when their term expires, it can neither be delayed for a moment nor can it be made to come early."[7.34] | وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لاَ يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلاَ يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ |
| Yā Banī 'Ādama 'Immā Ya'tiyannakum Rusulun Minkum Yaquşşūna `Alaykum 'Āyā Tī Famani Attaqá Wa 'Aşlaĥa Falā Khawfun `Alayhim Wa Lā Hum Yaĥzanūna | O children of Adam! Whenever there come to you Rasools from among you and recite to you My revelations, those who will become righteous and mend their ways will have nothing to fear or to regret;[7.35] | يَابَنِي آدَمَ إِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِنْكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِي فَمَنِ اتَّقَى وَأَصْلَحَ فَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Astakbarū `Anhā 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna | but those who deny Our revelations and treat them with arrogance, shall be the inmates of hellfire to live therein forever.[7.36] | وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا عَنْهَا أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ |
| Faman 'Ažlamu Mimmani Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan 'Aw Kadhdhaba Bi'āyātihi 'Ūlā'ika Yanāluhum Naşībuhum Mina Al-Kitābi Ĥattá 'Idhā Jā'at/hum Rusulunā Yatawaffawnahum Qālū 'Ayna Mā Kuntum Tad`ūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi Qālū Đallū `Annā Wa Shahidū `Alá 'Anfusihim 'Annahum Kānū Kāfirīna | Who can be more unjust than the one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His revelations? Such people will have their destined portion from the Book (what was written for them to receive during their life on earth); until when Our messengers (angels of death) arrive to take away their souls, they will ask: “Where are those gods whom you used to invoke besides Allah?” They will reply: “They have forsaken us” and they will bear witness against themselves (admit) that they were indeed kuffمr (unbelievers).[7.37] | فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ أُوْلَائِكَ يَنَالُهُمْ نَصِيبُهُمْ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْ قَالُوا أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا وَشَهِدُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا كَافِرِينَ |
| Qāla Adkhulū Fī 'Umamin Qad Khalat Min Qablikum Mina Al-Jinni Wa Al-'Insi Fī An-Nāri Kullamā Dakhalat 'Ummatun La`anat 'Ukhtahā Ĥattá 'Idhā Addārakū Fīhā Jamī`āan Qālat 'Ukhrāhum Li'wlāhum Rabbanā Hā'uulā' 'Ađallūnā Fa'ātihim `Adhābāan Đi`fāan Mina An-Nāri Qāla Likullin Đi`fun Wa Lakin Lā Ta`lamūna | Allah will say: “Enter the fire and join the nations of Jinns and men who have gone before you." As each nation will enter hell, it will curse its preceding sister till all are gathered there, the last of them will say about the first one: “Our Rabb! These have led us astray; therefore, give them double punishment of the fire.” He will answer: “There will be double for all, although you may not know because of being predecessor or successor in sin and aggression."[7.38] | قَالَ ادْخُلُوا فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالإِنسِ فِي النَّارِ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ أُمَّة ٌ لَعَنَتْ أُخْتَهَا حَتَّى إِذَا ادَّارَكُوا فِيهَا جَمِيعاً قَالَتْ أُخْرَاهُمْ لِأولاَهُمْ رَبَّنَا هَاؤُلاَء أَضَلُّونَا فَآتِهِمْ عَذَاباً ضِعْفاً مِنَ النَّارِ قَالَ لِكُلٍّ ضِعْفٌ وَلَكِنْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Wa Qālat 'Ūlāhum Li'khrāhum Famā Kāna Lakum `Alaynā Min Fađlin Fadhūqū Al-`Adhāba Bimā Kuntum Taksibūna | Then the first will say to the last: “If we were to blame, you too, were no better than us; now taste the punishment of your misdeeds."[7.39] | وَقَالَتْ أُولاَهُمْ لِأخْرَاهُمْ فَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلٍ فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Astakbarū `Anhā Lā Tufattaĥu Lahum 'Abwābu As-Samā'i Wa Lā Yadkhulūna Al-Jannata Ĥattá Yalija Al-Jamalu Fī Sammi Al-Khiyāţi Wa Kadhalika Najzī Al-Mujrimīna | Surely, the gates of the Heaven will not be opened for those who deny Our revelations and treat them with arrogance; their admission into paradise will be as impossible as the passing of a camel through the eye of a needle. That is how We shall reward the criminals.[7.40] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا عَنْهَا لاَ تُفَتَّحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ وَلاَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى يَلِجَ الْجَمَلُ فِي سَمِّ الْخِيَاطِ وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُجْرِمِينَ |
| Lahum Min Jahannama Mihādun Wa Min Fawqihim Ghawāshin Wa Kadhalika Najzī Až-Žālimīna | Hell shall be their bed and flames shall be their covering. That is how We shall reward the wrongdoers.[7.41] | لَهُمْ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَمِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٍ وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Lā Nukallifu Nafsāan 'Illā Wus`ahā 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu Al-Jannati Hum Fīhā Khālidūna | As for those who believe and do good deeds - We never burden a soul with more than it can bear - they are worthy of Paradise, wherein they will live forever.[7.42] | وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لاَ نُكَلِّفُ نَفْساً إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ |
| Wa Naza`nā Mā Fī Şudūrihim Min Ghillin Tajrī Min Taĥtihimu Al-'Anhāru Wa Qālū Al-Ĥamdu Lillahi Al-Ladhī Hadānā Lihadhā Wa Mā Kunnā Linahtadiya Lawlā 'An Hadānā Al-Lahu Laqad Jā'at Rusulu Rabbinā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Nūdū 'An Tilkumu Al-Jannatu 'Ūrithtumūhā Bimā Kuntum Ta`malūna | We shall remove whatever ill-feeling they may have in their hearts against one another. Rivers will be flowing beneath them; and they will say: “Praise be to Allah Who guided us this way, we would have never found the Right Way if Allah had not guided us. The Rasools of our Rabb have surely preached us the truth." At that time they will hear the announcement: “This is paradise, which you have inherited because of your good deeds."[7.43] | وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهِمُ الأَنْهَارُ وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ هَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَنُودُوا أَنْ تِلْكُمُ الْجَنَّةُ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Wa Nādá 'Aşĥābu Al-Jannati 'Aşĥāba An-Nāri 'An Qad Wajadnā Mā Wa`adanā Rabbunā Ĥaqqāan Fahal Wajadtum Mā Wa`ada Rabbukum Ĥaqqāan Qālū Na`am Fa'adhdhana Mu'uadhdhinun Baynahum 'An La`natu Al-Lahi `Alá Až-Žālimīna | The residents of paradise will call out to the inmates of the hellfire: “We have indeed found out the promises of our Rabb to be true. Have you, too, found the promise of your Rabb to be true?” “Yes,” they will answer, and a herald will proclaim among them, “the curse of Allah be upon those wrongdoers[7.44] | وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ أَنْ قَدْ وَجَدْنَا مَا وَعَدَنَا رَبُّنَا حَقّاً فَهَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقّاً قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ بَيْنَهُمْ أَنْ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yaşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Yabghūnahā `Iwajāan Wa Hum Bil-'Ākhirati Kāfirūna | who hindered other people from the Way of Allah and sought to make it crooked, and who did not believe in the hereafter."[7.45] | الَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاً وَهُمْ بِالآخِرَةِ كَافِرُونَ |
| Wa Baynahumā Ĥijābun Wa `Alá Al-'A`rāfi Rijālun Ya`rifūna Kullāan Bisīmāhum Wa Nādaw 'Aşĥāba Al-Jannati 'An Salāmun `Alaykum Lam Yadkhulūhā Wa Hum Yaţma`ūna | Between the two, there shall be a veil, and on the A‘rمf (heights) there will be people who will recognize them by their features. They will call out to the residents of Paradise: “Peace be upon you!” They will not have yet entered it, though they will have the hope."[7.46] | وَبَيْنَهُمَا حِجَابٌ وَعَلَى الأَعرَافِ رِجَالٌ يَعْرِفُونَ كُلاًّ بِسِيمَاهُمْ وَنَادَوْا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَمْ يَدْخُلُوهَا وَهُمْ يَطْمَعُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Şurifat 'Abşāruhum Tilqā'a 'Aşĥābi An-Nāri Qālū Rabbanā Lā Taj`alnā Ma`a Al-Qawmi Až-Žālimīna | When their eyes shall turn towards the inmates of the hellfire they will say: “Our Rabb! Do not cast us among these wrongdoers."[7.47] | وَإِذَا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصَارُهُمْ تِلْقَاءَ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ قَالُوا رَبَّنَا لاَ تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Wa Nādá 'Aşĥābu Al-'A`rāfi Rijālāan Ya`rifūnahum Bisīmāhum Qālū Mā 'Aghná `Ankum Jam`ukum Wa Mā Kuntum Tastakbirūna | The people of the A'rمf (heights) will call to certain men (famous personalities from among the inmates of Hell) whom they will recognize by their features and say: “Have you found out that neither your riches nor your arrogant pride have availed you?[7.48] | وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ الأَعرَافِ رِجَالاً يَعْرِفُونَهُمْ بِسِيمَاهُمْ قَالُوا مَا أَغْنَى عَنْكُمْ جَمْعُكُمْ وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ |
| 'Ahā'uulā' Al-Ladhīna 'Aqsamtum Lā Yanāluhumu Al-Lahu Biraĥmatin Adkhulū Al-Jannata Lā Khawfun `Alaykum Wa Lā 'Antum Taĥzanūna | Are the residents of paradise not the same people about whom you swore that Allah will never bestow His mercy on them?” Today the same people are being welcomed with the words, “Enter paradise, you have nothing to fear or to regret."[7.49] | أَهَاؤُلاَء الَّذِينَ أَقْسَمْتُمْ لاَ يَنَالُهُمُ اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلاَ أَنْتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ |
| Wa Nādá 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri 'Aşĥāba Al-Jannati 'An 'Afīđū `Alaynā Mina Al-Mā'i 'Aw Mimmā Razaqakumu Al-Lahu Qālū 'Inna Al-Laha Ĥarramahumā `Alá Al-Kāfirīna | Then the inmates of the fire will cry out to the residents of paradise: “Give us some water or some of the food which Allah has provided you." They will reply: “Allah has prohibited both of these things to the unbelievers,[7.50] | وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ أَفِيضُوا عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Attakhadhū Dīnahum Lahwan Wa La`ibāan Wa Gharrat/humu Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā Fālyawma Nansāhum Kamā Nasū Liqā'a Yawmihim Hādhā Wa Mā Kānū Bi'āyātinā Yajĥadūna | who took their religion to be mere amusement and play and were deceived by their earthly life." Allah will say: “Today We will forget them as they forgot the meeting of this Day; and mocked at Our revelations."[7.51] | الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَهُمْ لَهْواً وَلَعِباً وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا فَالْيَوْمَ نَنسَاهُمْ كَمَا نَسُوا لِقَاءَ يَوْمِهِمْ هَذَا وَمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Ji'nāhum Bikitābin Faşşalnāhu `Alá `Ilmin Hudáan Wa Raĥmatan Liqawmin Yu'uminūna | For We have certainly brought them a Book which provides clear details based on knowledge and which is a guidance and blessing for the true believers.[7.52] | وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَاهُمْ بِكِتَابٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُُعَلَى عِلْمٍ هُدىً وَرَحْمَة ً لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Hal Yanžurūna 'Illā Ta'wīlahu Yawma Ya'tī Ta'wīluhu Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Nasūhu Min Qablu Qad Jā'at Rusulu Rabbinā Bil-Ĥaqqi Fahal Lanā Min Shufa`ā'a Fayashfa`ū Lanā 'Aw Nuraddu Fana`mala Ghayra Al-Ladhī Kunnā Na`malu Qad Khasirū 'Anfusahum Wa Đalla `Anhum Mā Kānū Yaftarūna | Now are these people waiting for anything other than the Day of Fulfillment (Day of Judgment)? When the Day of Fulfillment will come, those who have disregarded it, will say: “Indeed the Rasools of our Rabb had come with the truth. Are there any intercessors now, who could intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back so that we would not do as we have done before." In fact they would have lost their souls and the things they had invented will leave them in the lurch.[7.53] | هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلاَّ تَأْوِيلَهُُيَوْمَ يَأْتِي تَأْوِيلُهُُيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ نَسُوهُُمِنْ قَبْلُ قَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَلْ لَنَا مِنْ شُفَعَاءَ فَيَشْفَعُوا لَنَا أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ قَدْ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ |
| 'Inna Rabbakumu Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Fī Sittati 'Ayyāmin Thumma Astawá `Alá Al-`Arshi Yughshī Al-Layla An-Nahāra Yaţlubuhu Ĥathīthāan Wa Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Wa An-Nujūma Musakhkharātin Bi'amrihi 'Alā Lahu Al-Khalqu Wa Al-'Amru Tabāraka Al-Lahu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna | Surely your Rabb is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Yُme (time periods) and is firmly established on the throne of authority. He makes the night cover the day and the day follow the night automatically. He created the sun, the moon and the stars, and made them subservient to His will. Take note: His is the creation, and His is the command. Blessed is Allah, the Rabb of the worlds![7.54] | إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُُحَثِيثاً وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ أَلاَ لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالأَمْرُ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Ad`ū Rabbakum Tađarru`āan Wa Khufyatan 'Innahu Lā Yuĥibbu Al-Mu`tadīna | Call on your Rabb with humility and in private; for He does not love the transgressors.[7.55] | ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعاً وَخُفْيَةً إِنَّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ |
| Wa Lā Tufsidū Fī Al-'Arđi Ba`da 'Işlāĥihā Wa Ad`ūhu Khawfāan Wa Ţama`āan 'Inna Raĥmata Al-Lahi Qarībun Mina Al-Muĥsinīna | Do not create mischief in the land after it has been set in order. Pray to Him with fear and hope. Surely the mercy of Allah is always close to those who do good to others.[7.56] | وَلاَ تُفْسِدُوا فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلاَحِهَا وَادْعُوهُُخَوْفاً وَطَمَعاً إِنَّ رَحْمَتَ اللَّهِ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Yursilu Ar-Riyāĥa Bushrāan Bayna Yaday Raĥmatihi Ĥattá 'Idhā 'Aqallat Saĥābāan Thiqālāan Suqnāhu Libaladin Mayyitin Fa'anzalnā Bihi Al-Mā'a Fa'akhrajnā Bihi Min Kulli Ath-Thamarāti Kadhālika Nukhriju Al-Mawtá La`allakum Tadhakkarūna | He is the One Who sends the winds bearing good news of His blessings, so when they lift up heavy clouds, We drive them along to a dead countryside and make the rain fall upon it and bring forth all kinds of fruits from the same dead land. Likewise We will raise the dead to life; this example is given so that you may learn a lesson from this observation.[7.57] | وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْراً بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَقَلَّتْ سَحَاباً ثِقَالاً سُقْنَاهُُلِبَلَدٍ مَيِّتٍ فَأَنزَلْنَا بِهِ الْمَاءَ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِِ مِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ كَذَلِكَ نُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتَى لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ |
| Wa Al-Baladu Aţ-Ţayyibu Yakhruju Nabātuhu Bi'idhni Rabbihi Wa Al-Ladhī Khabutha Lā Yakhruju 'Illā Nakidāan Kadhālika Nuşarrifu Al-'Āyāti Liqawmin Yashkurūna | The good soil yields rich produce by the permission of Allah and barren soil yields nothing but poor produce. Thus do We explain Our revelations over and over again for those who pay thanks.[7.58] | وَالْبَلَدُ الطَّيِّبُ يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُُبِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِِ وَالَّذِي خَبُثَ لاَ يَخْرُجُ إِلاَّ نَكِداً كَذَلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَشْكُرُونَ |
| Laqad 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan 'Ilá Qawmihi Faqāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu 'Innī 'Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin `Ažīmin | Indeed We selected Nüh for the guidance of his people, and he said: “O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god but Him. If you do not listen to what I say, I fear for you the punishment of a Mighty Day."[7.59] | لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَى قَوْمِهِِ فَقَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍٍ غَيْرُهُ~ُ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ |
| Qāla Al-Mala'u Min Qawmihi 'Innā Lanarāka Fī Đalālin Mubīnin | The chiefs of his nation said: “Surely we see that you are in evident error.”[7.60] | قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ مُبِينٍ |
| Qāla Yā Qawmi Laysa Bī Đalālatun Wa Lakinnī Rasūlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna | He replied: “O my people! I am not in error; on the contrary, I am a Rasool from the Rabb of the worlds.[7.61] | قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي ضَلاَلَةٌ وَلَكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 'Uballighukum Risālāti Rabbī Wa 'Anşaĥu Lakum Wa 'A`lamu Mina Al-Lahi Mā Lā Ta`lamūna | I am appointed to deliver the message of my Rabb and give you friendly advice for I know from Allah something that you do not know.[7.62] | أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالاَتِ رَبِّي وَأَنصَحُ لَكُمْ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'Awa`ajibtum 'An Jā'akum Dhikrun Min Rabbikum `Alá Rajulin Minkum Liyundhirakum Wa Litattaqū Wa La`allakum Turĥamūna | Do you wonder that there has come to you a message from your Rabb through a man from among yourselves to warn you, so that you may fear Allah in order to receive His mercy?”[7.63] | أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَنْ جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَلِتَتَّقُوا وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ |
| Fakadhdhabūhu Fa'anjaynāhu Wa Al-Ladhīna Ma`ahu Fī Al-Fulki Wa 'Aghraqnā Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā 'Innahum Kānū Qawmāan `Amīna | But they denied him, as a result We saved him and all who were with him in the ark, and drowned those who denied Our revelations. Surely they were a blind nation.[7.64] | فَكَذَّبُوهُُفَأَنجَيْنَاهُُوَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُُفِي الْفُلْكِ وَأَغْرَقْنَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْماً عَمِينَ |
| Wa 'Ilá `Ādin 'Akhāhum Hūdāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu 'Afalā Tattaqūna | For the people of ‘Ad We selected their brother Hüd, who said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no god but Him. Will you not fear Him?”[7.65] | وَإِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُوداً قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍٍ غَيْرُهُ~ُ أَفَلاَ تَتَّقُونَ |
| Qāla Al-Mala'u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qawmihi 'Innā Lanarāka Fī Safāhatin Wa 'Innā Lanažunnuka Mina Al-Kādhibīna | The chiefs of his nation who denied his message said: “We can see that you are crazy and we think that you are lying."[7.66] | قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي سَفَاهَةٍ وَإِنَّا لَنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ |
| Qāla Yā Qawmi Laysa Bī Safāhatun Wa Lakinnī Rasūlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna | He replied: “O my people! I am not crazy, on the contrary I am a Rasool from the Rabb of the worlds.[7.67] | قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي سَفَاهَةٌ وَلَكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 'Uballighukum Risālāti Rabbī Wa 'Anā Lakum Nāşiĥun 'Amīnun | I am conveying the message of my Rabb to you, and I am an honest adviser to you.[7.68] | أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالاَتِ رَبِّي وَأَنَا لَكُمْ نَاصِحٌ أَمِينٌ |
| 'Awa`ajibtum 'An Jā'akum Dhikrun Min Rabbikum `Alá Rajulin Minkum Liyundhirakum Wa Adhkurū 'Idh Ja`alakum Khulafā'a Min Ba`di Qawmi Nūĥin Wa Zādakum Fī Al-Khalqi Basţatan Fādhkurū 'Ālā'a Al-Lahi La`allakum Tufliĥūna | Do you wonder that a reminder from your Rabb has come to you through one of your own men to warn you? Remember that He made you successors after the people of Nüh and gave you a tall stature as compared to other people. Therefore, remember the favors that you have received from Allah, so that you may prosper."[7.69] | أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَنْ جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً فَاذْكُرُوا آلاَءَ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ |
| Qālū 'Aji'tanā Lina`buda Al-Laha Waĥdahu Wa Nadhara Mā Kāna Ya`budu 'Ābā'uunā Fa'tinā Bimā Ta`idunā 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna | They replied: “Have you come to us with the demand that we should worship Allah Alone and give up those whom our forefathers used to worship? Well, bring us what you are threatening us with if what you say is true!”[7.70] | قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِنَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ وَحْدَهُُوَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ |
| Qāla Qad Waqa`a `Alaykum Min Rabbikum Rijsun Wa Ghađabun 'Atujādilūnanī Fī 'Asmā'in Sammaytumūhā 'Antum Wa 'Ābā'uukum Mā Nazzala Al-Lahu Bihā Min Sulţānin Fāntažirū 'Innī Ma`akum Mina Al-Muntažirīna | Hüd said: “You have already incurred the blight and wrath of your Rabb. Would you dispute with me about mere names which you and your forefathers have invented, and for which Allah has revealed no sanction? If so then wait for the decision of Allah, I too will wait with you."[7.71] | قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ رِجْسٌ وَغَضَبٌ أَتُجَادِلُونَنِي فِي أَسْمَاءٍ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمْ مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ فَانتَظِرُوا إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ مِنَ الْمُنتَظِرِينَ |
| Fa'anjaynāhu Wa Al-Ladhīna Ma`ahu Biraĥmatin Minnā Wa Qaţa`nā Dābira Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Mā Kānū Mu'uminīna | We saved him and his companions by Our mercy and We cut off the roots of (annihilated) those who denied Our revelations and did not become believers.[7.72] | فَأَنجَيْنَاهُُوَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُُبِرَحْمَةٍ مِنَّا وَقَطَعْنَا دَابِرَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَمَا كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Wa 'Ilá Thamūda 'Akhāhum Şāliĥāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu Qad Jā'atkum Bayyinatun Min Rabbikum Hadhihi Nāqatu Al-Lahi Lakum 'Āyatan Fadharūhā Ta'kul Fī 'Arđi Al-Lahi Wa Lā Tamassūhā Bisū'in Faya'khudhakum `Adhābun 'Alīmun | For the people of Thamüd We selected their brother Saleh, who said: “O my people! Worship Allah; you have no other god but Him. Now a clear proof has come to you from your Rabb; here is Allah's she-camel as a sign for you, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah’s land and do not touch her with bad intentions, lest you incur a painful punishment.[7.73] | وَإِلَى ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحاً قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍٍ غَيْرُهُُقَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ هَذِهِِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَلاَ تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
| Wa Adhkurū 'Idh Ja`alakum Khulafā'a Min Ba`di `Ādin Wa Bawwa'akum Fī Al-'Arđi Tattakhidhūna Min Suhūlihā Quşūrāan Wa Tanĥitūna Al-Jibāla Buyūtāan Fādhkurū 'Ālā'a Al-Lahi Wa Lā Ta`thaw Fī Al-'Arđi Mufsidīna | Remember how you were made the heirs of ‘Ad and settled in the land, capable of building mansions in the valleys and carving out homes in the mountains. Therefore, remember the favors of Allah and do not spread mischief in the land."[7.74] | وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِنْ بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْ سُهُولِهَا قُصُوراً وَتَنْحِتُونَ الْجِبَالَ بُيُوتاً فَاذْكُرُوا آلاَءَ اللَّهِ وَلاَ تَعْثَوْا فِي الأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ |
| Qāla Al-Mala'u Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū Min Qawmihi Lilladhīna Astuđ`ifū Liman 'Āmana Minhum 'Ata`lamūna 'Anna Şāliĥāan Mursalun Min Rabbihi Qālū 'Innā Bimā 'Ursila Bihi Mu'uminūna | The arrogant leaders from his nation asked the oppressed among them who had believed: “Do you really believe that Saleh is a Rasool from his Rabb?” They replied: “We do indeed believe in the revelation with which he has been sent."[7.75] | قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِِ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِمَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَالِحاً مُرْسَلٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِِ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِِ مُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Qāla Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū 'Innā Bial-Ladhī 'Āmantum Bihi Kāfirūna | The arrogant, who considered themselves superior, said: “We deny all that you believe in."[7.76] | قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا بِالَّذِي آمَنتُمْ بِهِِ كَافِرُونَ |
| Fa`aqarū An-Nāqata Wa `Ataw `An 'Amri Rabbihim Wa Qālū Yā Şāliĥu A'tinā Bimā Ta`idunā 'In Kunta Mina Al-Mursalīna | Then they hamstrung the she-camel, defied the commandment of their Rabb and challenged Saleh saying: “Bring down the scourge you have threatened us with, if you truly are one of the Rasools."[7.77] | فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا يَاصَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| Fa'akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Fa'aşbaĥū Fī Dārihim Jāthimīna | Thereupon an earthquake overtook them and they became lifeless bodies in their homes with their faces down.[7.78] | فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ |
| Fatawallá `Anhum Wa Qāla Yā Qawmi Laqad 'Ablaghtukum Risālata Rabbī Wa Naşaĥtu Lakum Wa Lakin Lā Tuĥibbūna An-Nāşiĥīna | Saleh left them saying: “O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message of my Rabb and gave you good advice but you did not love the good advisers."[7.79] | فَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَاقَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ وَلَكِنْ لاَ تُحِبُّونَ النَّاصِحِينَ |
| Wa Lūţāan 'Idh Qāla Liqawmihi 'Ata'tūna Al-Fāĥishata Mā Sabaqakum Bihā Min 'Aĥadin Mina Al-`Ālamīna | We also selected Lüt, who said to his people: “Will you do such indecent acts as no one else in the world has committed before you?[7.80] | وَلُوطاً إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُمْ بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 'Innakum Lata'tūna Ar-Rijāla Shahwatan Min Dūni An-Nisā' Bal 'Antum Qawmun Musrifūna | You satisfy your lust with men (homosexual) instead of women. Indeed you are a nation who has transgressed beyond bounds."[7.81] | إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِنْ دُونِ النِسَاء بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ |
| Wa Mā Kāna Jawāba Qawmihi 'Illā 'An Qālū 'Akhrijūhum Min Qaryatikum 'Innahum 'Unāsun Yataţahharūn | His people had no answer but to say: “Drive them out of your town, they pose to be very pious!”[7.82] | وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلاَّ أَنْ قَالُوا أَخْرِجُوهُمْ مِنْ قَرْيَتِكُمْ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُون |
| Fa'anjaynāhu Wa 'Ahlahu 'Illā Amra'atahu Kānat Mina Al-Ghābirīna | So We saved him and his family except his wife, who was of those who lagged behind.[7.83] | فَأَنجَيْنَاهُُوَأَهْلَهُ~ُ إِلاَّ امْرَأَتَهُُكَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ |
| Wa 'Amţarnā `Alayhim Maţarāan Fānžur Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mujrimīna | We let loose rain of brimstone and every one of them was killed; see what was the outcome for such criminals.[7.84] | وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَطَراً فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ |
| Wa 'Ilá Madyana 'Akhāhum Shu`aybāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu Qad Jā'atkum Bayyinatun Min Rabbikum Fa'awfū Al-Kayla Wa Al-Mīzāna Wa Lā Tabkhasū An-Nāsa 'Ashyā 'Ahum Wa Lā Tufsidū Fī Al-'Arđi Ba`da 'Işlāĥihā Dhālikum Khayrun Lakum 'In Kuntum Mu'uminīna | For Madyan We selected their brother Shu‘aib, who said: “O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other god but Him. A clear guidance has come to you from your Rabb. Give just measure and weight, do not undersell others in their goods, and do not create mischief in the land after it has been set in order; this is better for you if you are true believers.[7.85] | وَإِلَى مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباً قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍٍ غَيْرُهُُقَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَأَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ وَلاَ تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلاَ تُفْسِدُوا فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلاَحِهَا ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Wa Lā Taq`udū Bikulli Şirāţin Tū`idūna Wa Taşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Man 'Āmana Bihi Wa Tabghūnahā `Iwajāan Wa Adhkurū 'Idh Kuntum Qalīlāan Fakaththarakum Wa Anžurū Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mufsidīna | Do not sit in ambush on every road to threaten people and hinder from the Way of Allah those who believe in Him, seeking to make His Way crooked. Remember how He multiplied you when you were a few in number and see what was the end of the mischief-makers of prior nations.[7.86] | وَلاَ تَقْعُدُوا بِكُلِّ صِرَاطٍ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِهِِ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاً وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ كُنتُمْ قَلِيلاً فَكَثَّرَكُمْ وَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ |
| Wa 'In Kāna Ţā'ifatun Minkum 'Āmanū Bial-Ladhī 'Ursiltu Bihi Wa Ţā'ifatun Lam Yu'uminū Fāşbirū Ĥattá Yaĥkuma Al-Lahu Baynanā Wa Huwa Khayru Al-Ĥākimīna | If there are some among you who believe in the message with which I have been sent and others who disbelieve it, then be patient until Allah judges between us, for He is the best of all judges."[7.87] | وَإِنْ كَانَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْكُمْ آمَنُوا بِالَّذِي أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِِ وَطَائِفَة ٌ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَنَا وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِينَ |
| Qāla Al-Mala'u Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū Min Qawmihi Lanukhrijannaka Yā Shu`aybu Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Ma`aka Min Qaryatinā 'Aw Lata`ūdunna Fī Millatinā Qāla 'Awalaw Kunnā Kārihīna | The arrogant proud leaders of his nation said: “O Shu‘aib! We shall certainly drive you and your fellow believers out of our town or you will have to return back to our national ways." He replied: “What! Will you make us turn back against our will?[7.88] | قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَا شُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَكَ مِنْ قَرْيَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِي مِلَّتِنَا قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَارِهِينَ |
| Qadi Aftaraynā `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan 'In `Udnā Fī Millatikum Ba`da 'Idh Najjānā Al-Lahu Minhā Wa Mā Yakūnu Lanā 'An Na`ūda Fīhā 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Al-Lahu Rabbunā Wasi`a Rabbunā Kulla Shay'in `Ilmāan `Alá Al-Lahi Tawakkalnā Rabbanā Aftaĥ Baynanā Wa Bayna Qawminā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Anta Khayru Al-Fātiĥīna | We shall indeed invent a lie against Allah if we return to your ways after Allah has rescued us therefrom. It is not possible for us to turn back unless Allah, our Rabb, want us to. Our Rabb has vast knowledge of everything. We put our trust in Allah." Then they prayed: "Our Rabb! Decide between us and our nation with truth, for you are the best to decide."[7.89] | قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً إِنْ عُدْنَا فِي مِلَّتِكُمْ بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَنْ نَعُودَ فِيهَا إِلاَّ أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْماً عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ |
| Wa Qāla Al-Mala'u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qawmihi La'ini Attaba`tum Shu`aybāan 'Innakum 'Idhāan Lakhāsirūna | The leaders who disbelieved from among his nation said: “If you follow Shu`aib, you shall indeed be losers!”[7.90] | وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِِ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْباً إِنَّكُمْ إِذاً لَخَاسِرُونَ |
| Fa'akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Fa'aşbaĥū Fī Dārihim Jāthimīna | Thereupon an earthquake overtook them and they became lifeless bodies in their homes with their faces down.[7.91] | فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Shu`aybāan Ka'an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Shu`aybāan Kānū Humu Al-Khāsirīna | Those who called Shu`aib a liar were as though they never lived therein; those who called Shu`aib a liar were the actual losers.[7.92] | الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْباً كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْباً كَانُوا هُمُ الْخَاسِرِينَ |
| Fatawallá `Anhum Wa Qāla Yā Qawmi Laqad 'Ablaghtukum Risālāti Rabbī Wa Naşaĥtu Lakum Fakayfa 'Āsá `Alá Qawmin Kāfirīna | Shu`aib left them saying: “O my people! I did indeed convey to you the messages of my Rabb and I did give you good advice; how shall I then be sorry for the nation that refuses to believe?”[7.93] | فَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالاَتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ فَكَيْفَ آسَى عَلَى قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ |
| Wa Mā 'Arsalnā Fī Qaryatin Min Nabīyin 'Illā 'Akhadhnā 'Ahlahā Bil-Ba'sā'i Wa Ađ-Đarrā'i La`allahum Yađđarra`ūna | Whenever We sent a Prophet to a town We afflicted its people with adversity and misfortunes so that they might humble themselves.[7.94] | وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلاَّ أَخَذْنَا أَهْلَهَا بِالْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ |
| Thumma Baddalnā Makāna As-Sayyi'ati Al-Ĥasanata Ĥattá `Afaw Wa Qālū Qad Massa 'Ābā'anā Ađ-Đarrā'u Wa As-Sarrā'u Fa'akhadhnāhum Baghtatan Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna | Then We changed their adversity into good fortune till they became very affluent and said: “Our forefathers also had their adversity and affluence." Behold! We took them by surprise while they did not even notice it.[7.95] | ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّى عَفَوا وَقَالُوا قَدْ مَسَّ آبَاءَنَا الضَّرَّاءُ وَالسَّرَّاءُ فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ |
| Wa Law 'Anna 'Ahla Al-Qurá 'Āmanū Wa Attaqaw Lafataĥnā `Alayhim Barakātin Mina As-Samā'i Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Lakin Kadhdhabū Fa'akhadhnāhum Bimā Kānū Yaksibūna | Had the residents of the towns believed and feared Allah, We would have showered upon them riches from the heavens and the earth, but they disbelieved; so We seized them for their misdeeds.[7.96] | وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُرَى آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَرَكَاتٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ وَلَكِنْ كَذَّبُوا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
| 'Afa'amina 'Ahlu Al-Qurá 'An Ya'tiyahum Ba'sunā Bayātāan Wa Hum Nā'imūna | Do the people of these towns now feel secure from Our punishment coming to them by night while they might be fast asleep?[7.97] | أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَى أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا بَيَاتاً وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ |
| 'Awa 'Amina 'Ahlu Al-Qurá 'An Ya'tiyahum Ba'sunā Đuĥáan Wa Hum Yal`abūna | Or do the people of these towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in broad daylight while they are playing around?[7.98] | أَوَ أَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَى أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا ضُحىً وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ |
| 'Afa'aminū Makra Al-Lahi Falā Ya'manu Makra Al-Lahi 'Illā Al-Qawmu Al-Khāsirūna | Do these people feel secure against the plan of Allah? In fact, only those people feel secure from the plan of Allah who are doomed to destruction.[7.99] | أَفَأَمِنُوا مَكْرَ اللَّهِ فَلاَ يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ |
| 'Awalam Yahdi Lilladhīna Yarithūna Al-'Arđa Min Ba`di 'Ahlihā 'An Law Nashā'u 'Aşabnāhum Bidhunūbihim Wa Naţba`u `Alá Qulūbihim Fahum Lā Yasma`ūna | Is it not a guiding lesson to those who inherit the earth after its former occupants, that if We please, We can punish them for their sins and seal their hearts so they would not hear?[7.100] | أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لِلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الأَرْضَ مِنْ بَعْدِ أَهْلِهَا أَنْ لَوْ نَشَاءُ أَصَبْنَاهُمْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَنَطْبَعُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يَسْمَعُونَ |
| Tilka Al-Qurá Naquşşu `Alayka Min 'Anbā'ihā Wa Laqad Jā'at/hum Rusuluhum Bil-Bayyināti Famā Kānū Liyu'uminū Bimā Kadhdhabū Min Qablu Kadhālika Yaţba`u Al-Lahu `Alá Qulūbi Al-Kāfirīna | Those towns whose stories We related to you, can serve as examples. Certainly their Rasools came to them with clear signs, but they persisted in their unbelief and would not believe what they had denied before. That’s why Allah sealed the hearts of those unbelievers.[7.101] | تِلْكَ الْقُرَى نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَائِهَا وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَمَا كَانُوا لِيُؤْمِنُوا بِمَا كَذَّبُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ كَذَلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِ الْكَافِرِينَ |
| Wa Mā Wajadnā Li'ktharihim Min `Ahdin Wa 'In Wajadnā 'Aktharahum Lafāsiqīna | We did not find most of them true to their commitments, rather We found that most of them were transgressors.[7.102] | وَمَا وَجَدْنَا لِأكْثَرِهِمْ مِنْ عَهْدٍ وَإِنْ وَجَدْنَا أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَفَاسِقِينَ |
| Thumma Ba`athnā Min Ba`dihim Mūsá Bi'āyātinā 'Ilá Fir`awna Wa Mala'ihi Fažalamū Bihā Fānžur Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mufsidīna | Then after them, We sent Musa (Moses) with Our revelations to Fir'on (Pharaoh) and his chiefs but they too treated Our revelations unjustly, so see what was the end of those mischief-makers.[7.103] | ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ مُوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِِ فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ |
| Wa Qāla Mūsá Yā Fir`awnu 'Innī Rasūlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna | Musa said: “O Fir'on! I am a Rasool from the Rabb of the worlds.[7.104] | وَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Ĥaqīqun `Alá 'An Lā 'Aqūla `Alá Al-Lahi 'Illā Al-Ĥaqqa Qad Ji'tukum Bibayyinatin Min Rabbikum Fa'arsil Ma`ī Banī 'Isrā'īla | It is not befitting for me to say anything about Allah except the Truth. I have come to you from your Rabb with clear signs of appointment, therefore, send the children of Israel with me."[7.105] | حَقِيقٌ عَلَى أَنْ لاَ أَقُولَ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْحَقَّ قَدْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِبَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |
| Qāla 'In Kunta Ji'ta Bi'āyatin Fa'ti Bihā 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna | Fir'on asked: “If you have come with a sign then produce it, if what you say is true."[7.106] | قَالَ إِنْ كُنتَ جِئْتَ بِآيَةٍ فَأْتِ بِهَا إِنْ كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ |
| Fa'alqá `Aşāhu Fa'idhā Hiya Thu`bānun Mubīnun | So Musa threw down his staff and all of a sudden it became a real serpent.[7.107] | فَأَلْقَى عَصَاهُُفَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُبِينٌ |
| Wa Naza`a Yadahu Fa'idhā Hiya Bayđā'u Lilnnāžirīna | Then he drew out his hand from his pocket and it became shining white to all the beholders.[7.108] | وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُُفَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ |
| Qāla Al-Mala'u Min Qawmi Fir`awna 'Inna Hādhā Lasāĥirun `Alīmun | The chiefs of Fir'on’s nation said: “He indeed is a skilled sorcerer[7.109] | قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ |
| Yurīdu 'An Yukhrijakum Min 'Arđikum Famādhā Ta'murūna | who intends to drive you out from your land." Fir'on asked: "So what do you propose?"[7.110] | يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُمْ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ |
| Qālū 'Arjihi Wa 'Akhāhu Wa 'Arsil Fī Al-Madā'ini Ĥāshirīna | They said: “Put him and his brother off for a while; and send the collectors to all the cities[7.111] | قَالُوا أَرْجِهِِ وَأَخَاهُُوَأَرْسِلْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ |
| Ya'tūka Bikulli Sāĥirin `Alīmin | and summon every skillful sorcerer to you."[7.112] | يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَاحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ |
| Wa Jā'a As-Saĥaratu Fir`awna Qālū 'Inna Lanā La'ajrāan 'In Kunnā Naĥnu Al-Ghālibīna | The sorcerers came to Fir'on and said: “We must certainly have some suitable reward if we prevail!”[7.113] | وَجَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالُوا إِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْراً إِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ |
| Qāla Na`am Wa 'Innakum Lamina Al-Muqarrabīna | "Yes," he answered. “Not only reward but more: you shall certainly become my favored friends."[7.114] | قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ |
| Qālū Yā Mūsá 'Immā 'An Tulqiya Wa 'Immā 'An Nakūna Naĥnu Al-Mulqīna | Then they asked Musa: “Will you cast, or should we be the first ones to cast?”[7.115] | قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى إِمَّا أَنْ تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ نَكُونَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِينَ |
| Qāla 'Alqū Falammā 'Alqaw Saĥarū 'A`yuna An-Nāsi Wa Astarhabūhum Wa Jā'ū Bisiĥrin `Ažīmin | Musa said: “You cast." So when they cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and terrified them by a display of a mighty sorcery.[7.116] | قَالَ أَلْقُوا فَلَمَّا أَلْقَوْا سَحَرُوا أَعْيُنَ النَّاسِ وَاسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْ وَجَاءُوا بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيمٍ |
| Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilá Mūsá 'An 'Alqi `Aşāka Fa'idhā Hiya Talqafu Mā Ya'fikūna | We inspired Musa to cast his staff. No sooner did he cast his staff than it became a serpent and began to swallow up the creation of their sorcery![7.117] | وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ |
| Fawaqa`a Al-Ĥaqqu Wa Baţala Mā Kānū Ya`malūna | Thus the truth prevailed and all that they did collapsed.[7.118] | فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Faghulibū Hunālika Wa Anqalabū Şāghirīna | Fir'on and his people were defeated and put to humiliation,[7.119] | فَغُلِبُوا هُنَالِكَ وَانقَلَبُوا صَاغِرِينَ |
| Wa 'Ulqiya As-Saĥaratu Sājidīna | and the sorcerers, since they were professionals and knew that it was not sorcery, fell down in prostration,[7.120] | وَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ |
| Qālū 'Āmannā Birabbi Al-`Ālamīna | saying: “we believe in the Rabb of the worlds,[7.121] | قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Rabbi Mūsá Wa Hārūna | the Rabb of Musa and Haroon."[7.122] | رَبِّ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ |
| Qāla Fir`awnu 'Āmantum Bihi Qabla 'An 'Ādhana Lakum 'Inna Hādhā Lamakrun Makartumūhu Fī Al-Madīnati Litukhrijū Minhā 'Ahlahā Fasawfa Ta`lamūna | Fir'on said: “How dare you believe in Him without my permission? In fact this was a plot which you all had planned to drive the people out of their city, but soon you will know its consequences.[7.123] | قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ آمَنتُمْ بِهِِ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّ هَذَا لَمَكْرٌ مَكَرْتُمُوهُُفِي الْمَدِينَةِ لِتُخْرِجُوا مِنْهَا أَهْلَهَا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| La'uqaţţi`anna 'Aydiyakum Wa 'Arjulakum Min Khilāfin Thumma La'uşallibannakum 'Ajma`īna | I will have your hands and your feet cut off on opposite sides and then crucify you all."[7.124] | لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلاَفٍ ثُمَّ لَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ |
| Qālū 'Innā 'Ilá Rabbinā Munqalibūna | They answered: “We will surely return to our Rabb.[7.125] | قَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ |
| Wa Mā Tanqimu Minnā 'Illā 'An 'Āmannā Bi'āyāti Rabbinā Lammā Jā'atnā Rabbanā 'Afrigh `Alaynā Şabrāan Wa Tawaffanā Muslimīna | Look at your verdict, you want to take revenge simply because we believed in the signs of our Rabb when they came before us! O Rabb! Give us patience and cause us die as Muslims."[7.126] | وَمَا تَنقِمُ مِنَّا إِلاَّ أَنْ آمَنَّا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَاءَتْنَا رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْراً وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ |
| Wa Qāla Al-Mala'u Min Qawmi Fir`awna 'Atadharu Mūsá Wa Qawmahu Liyufsidū Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Yadharaka Wa 'Ālihataka Qāla Sanuqattilu 'Abnā'ahum Wa Nastaĥyī Nisā'ahum Wa 'Innā Fawqahum Qāhirūna | The chiefs of Fir'on’s (Pharaoh's) nation asked him: “Will you leave Musa (Moses) and his nation free to commit mischief in the land and to forsake you and your gods?” He said: “We will put their sons to death and spare their daughters; we have irresistible power over them."[7.127] | وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ أَتَذَرُ مُوسَى وَقَوْمَهُُلِيُفْسِدُوا فِي الأَرْضِ وَيَذَرَكَ وَآلِهَتَكَ قَالَ سَنُقَتِّلُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَنَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ وَإِنَّا فَوْقَهُمْ قَاهِرُونَ |
| Qāla Mūsá Liqawmihi Asta`īnū Bil-Lahi Wa Aşbirū 'Inna Al-'Arđa Lillahi Yūrithuhā Man Yashā'u Min `Ibādihi Wa Al-`Āqibatu Lilmuttaqīna | Musa said to his people: “Seek help from Allah and be patient. The land belongs to Allah. He gives it as a heritage to those of His devotees whom He pleases. You should know that final success is for the righteous."[7.128] | قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِهِ اسْتَعِينُوا بِاللَّهِ وَاصْبِرُوا إِنَّ الأَرْضَ لِلَّهِ يُورِثُهَا مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِِ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ |
| Qālū 'Ūdhīnā Min Qabli 'An Ta'tiyanā Wa Min Ba`di Mā Ji'tanā Qāla `Asá Rabbukum 'An Yuhlika `Adūwakum Wa Yastakhlifakum Fī Al-'Arđi Fayanžura Kayfa Ta`malūna | They said: “We were oppressed before you came to us and since you have come to us." He replied: “It is quite possible that your Rabb may destroy your enemy and make you vicegerent in the land; then He will see how you act."[7.129] | قَالُوا أُوذِينَا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنَا وَمِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جِئْتَنَا قَالَ عَسَى رَبُّكُمْ أَنْ يُهْلِكَ عَدُوَّكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفَكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Wa Laqad 'Akhadhnā 'Āla Fir`awna Bis-Sinīna Wa Naqşin Mina Ath-Thamarāti La`allahum Yadhdhakkarūna | We afflicted Fir'on’s people with several years of famine and shortages of fruit so that they might come to their senses.[7.130] | وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ بِالسِّنِينَ وَنَقْصٍ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ |
| Fa'idhā Jā'at/humu Al-Ĥasanatu Qālū Lanā Hadhihi Wa 'In Tuşibhum Sayyi'atun Yaţţayyarū Bimūsá Wa Man Ma`ahu 'Alā 'Innamā Ţā'iruhum `Inda Al-Lahi Wa Lakinna 'Aktharahum Lā Ya`lamūna | But whenever they had good times they said “It is our due,” and whenever evil befell them, they ascribed that bad luck to Musa and those with him. Behold! In fact their misfortune was in the hands of Allah; yet most of them do not know.[7.131] | فَإِذَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْحَسَنَةُ قَالُوا لَنَا هَذِهِِ وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَطَّيَّرُوا بِمُوسَى وَمَنْ مَعَهُ~ُ أَلاَ إِنَّمَا طَائِرُهُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Wa Qālū Mahmā Ta'tinā Bihi Min 'Āyatin Litasĥaranā Bihā Famā Naĥnu Laka Bimu'uminīna | They said to Musa: “No matter what sign you may bring us to put your magic spell, we are not going to believe you."[7.132] | وَقَالُوا مَهْمَا تَأْتِنَا بِهِِ مِنْ آيَةٍ لِتَسْحَرَنَا بِهَا فَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Fa'arsalnā `Alayhimu Aţ-Ţūfāna Wa Al-Jarāda Wa Al-Qummala Wa Ađ-Đafādi`a Wa Ad-Dama 'Āyātin Mufaşşalātin Fāstakbarū Wa Kānū Qawmāan Mujrimīna | So We plagued them with storms, locusts, lice, frogs and blood: clear cut signs, yet they persisted in their arrogance, for they were a criminal nation.[7.133] | فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ آيَاتٍ مُفَصَّلاَتٍ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْماً مُجْرِمِينَ |
| Wa Lammā Waqa`a `Alayhimu Ar-Rijzu Qālū Yā Mūsá Ad`u Lanā Rabbaka Bimā `Ahida `Indaka La'in Kashafta `Annā Ar-Rijza Lanu'uminanna Laka Wa Lanursilanna Ma`aka Banī 'Isrā'īla | Every time the plague befell them, they said: “O Musa! Pray for us to your Rabb as He has made the promise with you, if you help remove the plague from us, we shall truly believe in you and send the Children of Israel with you."[7.134] | وَلَمَّا وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّجْزُ قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِنْدَكَ لَئِنْ كَشَفْتَ عَنَّا الرِّجْزَ لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ لَكَ وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |
| Falammā Kashafnā `Anhumu Ar-Rijza 'Ilá 'Ajalin Hum Bālighūhu 'Idhā Hum Yankuthūna | But every time We removed the plague from them and the appointed time for the release of the Children of Israel came, lo! They broke their promise.[7.135] | فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْزَ إِلَى أَجَلٍ هُمْ بَالِغُوهُ~ُ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ |
| Fāntaqamnā Minhum Fa'aghraqnāhum Fī Al-Yammi Bi'annahum Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Kānū `Anhā Ghāfilīna | Therefore, We inflicted retribution on them and drowned them in the sea, for they denied Our signs and became heedless of them.[7.136] | فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ |
| Wa 'Awrathnā Al-Qawma Al-Ladhīna Kānū Yustađ`afūna Mashāriqa Al-'Arđi Wa Maghāribahā Allatī Bāraknā Fīhā Wa Tammat Kalimatu Rabbika Al-Ĥusná `Alá Banī 'Isrā'īla Bimā Şabarū Wa Dammarnā Mā Kāna Yaşna`u Fir`awnu Wa Qawmuhu Wa Mā Kānū Ya`rishūna | Thus We made that nation which was oppressed, the inheritors of the eastern and western lands which We had blessed. That’s how the fair promise of your Rabb was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because they had endured with patience; and We levelled to the ground the great works and fine buildings which Fir'on and his nation had erected with such pride.[7.137] | وَأَوْرَثْنَا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يُسْتَضْعَفُونَ مَشَارِقَ الأَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ الْحُسْنَى عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا وَدَمَّرْنَا مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ فِرْعَوْنُ وَقَوْمُهُُوَمَا كَانُوا يَعْرِشُونَ |
| Wa Jāwaznā Bibanī 'Isrā'īla Al-Baĥra Fa'ataw `Alá Qawmin Ya`kufūna `Alá 'Aşnāmin Lahum Qālū Yā Mūsá Aj`al Lanā 'Ilahāan Kamā Lahum 'Ālihatun Qāla 'Innakum Qawmun Tajhalūna | We made the Children of Israel cross the (Red) sea. On their way they came across a people who were worshipping their idols. They said: “O Musa (Moses) fashion for us an Ilمh (a god for worship) like the gods of these people." He replied: “You are indeed very ignorant people,[7.138] | وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْا عَلَى قَوْمٍ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَى أَصْنَامٍ لَهُمْ قَالُوا يَامُوسَى اجْعَل لَنَا إِلَهاً كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ |
| 'Inna Hā'uulā' Mutabbarun Mā Hum Fīhi Wa Bāţilun Mā Kānū Ya`malūna | don’t you realize, what these people are following is doomed to destruction and their deeds are in vain."[7.139] | إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء مُتَبَّرٌ مَا هُمْ فِيهِِ وَبَاطِلٌ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Qāla 'Aghayra Al-Lahi 'Abghīkum 'Ilahāan Wa Huwa Fađđalakum `Alá Al-`Ālamīna | He further said: “Should I seek for you a god for worship other than Allah: when it is He who has exalted you above all the worlds[7.140] | قَالَ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْغِيكُمْ إِلَهاً وَهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Wa 'Idh 'Anjaynākum Min 'Āli Fir`awna Yasūmūnakum Sū'a Al-`Adhābi Yuqattilūna 'Abnā'akum Wa Yastaĥyūna Nisā'akum Wa Fī Dhālikum Balā'un Min Rabbikum `Ažīmun | and while Allah says, "Remember that We rescued you from people of Fir‘on (Pharaoh), who subjected you to cruel torment, putting your sons to death and sparing your women and in that condition of slavery there was a great trial from your Rabb."[7.141] | وَإِذْ أَنجَيْنَاكُمْ مِنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ يُقَتِّلُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ وَفِي ذَلِكُمْ بَلاَءٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ |
| Wa Wā`adnā Mūsá Thalāthīna Laylatan Wa 'Atmamnāhā Bi`ashrin Fatamma Mīqātu Rabbihi 'Arba`īna Laylatan Wa Qāla Mūsá Li'khīhi Hārūna Akhlufnī Fī Qawmī Wa 'Aşliĥ Wa Lā Tattabi` Sabīla Al-Mufsidīna | We summoned Musa to the mount of Tür for thirty nights and added ten more to complete the term of forty nights for communion with his Rabb. (Before leaving) Musa asked his brother Haroon (Aaron): “You will be in my place among my people, set a good example and do not follow the way of mischief-makers."[7.142] | وَوَاعَدْنَا مُوسَى ثَلاَثِينَ لَيْلَةً وَأَتْمَمْنَاهَا بِعَشْرٍ فَتَمَّ مِيقَاتُ رَبِّهِ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً وَقَالَ مُوسَى لِأخِيهِِ هَارُونَ اخْلُفْنِي فِي قَوْمِي وَأَصْلِحْ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ |
| Wa Lammā Jā'a Mūsá Limīqātinā Wa Kallamahu Rabbuhu Qāla Rabbi 'Arinī 'Anžur 'Ilayka Qāla Lan Tarānī Wa Lakini Anžur 'Ilá Al-Jabali Fa'ini Astaqarra Makānahu Fasawfa Tarānī Falammā Tajallá Rabbuhu Liljabali Ja`alahu Dakkāan Wa Kharra Mūsá Şa`iqāan Falammā 'Afāqa Qāla Subĥānaka Tubtu 'Ilayka Wa 'Anā 'Awwalu Al-Mu'uminīna | When Musa came to Our appointed place and his Rabb spoke to him, he asked: “O my Rabb! Give me power of sight to see You." He answered: “You cannot see Me. Look at the mountain; if it remains firm in its place then soon you might be able to see Me”. When his Rabb manifested His glory on the mountain, it turned into small pieces of fine dust and Musa fell down unconscious. When Musa recovered he said: “Glory be to You! Accept my repentance and I am the first of the believers."[7.143] | وَلَمَّا جَاءَ مُوسَى لِمِيقَاتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهُُرَبُّهُُقَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِي أَنظُرْ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ لَنْ تَرَانِي وَلَكِنِ انظُرْ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُُفَسَوْفَ تَرَانِي فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُُلِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُُدَكّاً وَخَرَّ مُوسَى صَعِقاً فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Qāla Yā Mūsá 'Innī Aşţafaytuka `Alá An-Nāsi Birisālātī Wa Bikalāmī Fakhudh Mā 'Ātaytuka Wa Kun Mina Ash-Shākirīna | Allah said: “O Musa! I have chosen you from among mankind to deliver My message and to have conversation with Me: so take what I give you and be thankful."[7.144] | قَالَ يَامُوسَى إِنِّي اصْطَفَيْتُكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالاَتِي وَبِكَلاَمِي فَخُذْ مَا آتَيْتُكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ |
| Wa Katabnā Lahu Fī Al-'Alwāĥi Min Kulli Shay'in Maw`ižatan Wa Tafşīlāan Likulli Shay'in Fakhudh/hā Biqūwatin Wa 'Mur Qawmaka Ya'khudhū Bi'aĥsanihā Sa'urīkum Dāra Al-Fāsiqīna | We inscribed for him upon tablets all kind of instructions and details of every thing, concerning all branches of life, and said: “Observe these with firmness and enjoin your people to follow them according to the best of their abilities. Soon I shall show you the homes of the transgressors.[7.145] | وَكَتَبْنَا لَهُُفِي الأَلْوَاحِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَوْعِظَةً وَتَفْصِيلاً لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا بِأَحْسَنِهَا سَأُرِيكُمْ دَارَ الْفَاسِقِينَ |
| Sa'aşrifu `An 'Āyātiya Al-Ladhīna Yatakabbarūna Fī Al-'Arđi Bighayri Al-Ĥaqqi Wa 'In Yaraw Kulla 'Āyatin Lā Yu'uminū Bihā Wa 'In Yaraw Sabīla Ar-Rushdi Lā Yattakhidhūhu Sabīlāan Wa 'In Yaraw Sabīla Al-Ghayyi Yattakhidhūhu Sabīlāan Dhālika Bi'annahum Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Kānū `Anhā Ghāfilīna | I will turn away from My signs the eyes of those who are unjustly arrogant in the land, so that even if they see each and every sign they will not believe in it. If they see the Right Way before them they will not follow it; but if they see a crooked way they will follow it; this is because they denied Our revelations and were heedless of them.[7.146] | سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ آيَاتِيَ الَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كُلَّ آيَةٍ لاَ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَا وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الرُّشْدِ لاَ يَتَّخِذُوهُُسَبِيلاً وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُُسَبِيلاً ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Liqā'i Al-'Ākhirati Ĥabiţat 'A`māluhum Hal Yujzawna 'Illā Mā Kānū Ya`malūna | Those who deny Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter, their deeds are null. Should they be rewarded except for what they have done?”[7.147] | وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاءِ الآخِرَةِ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Wa Attakhadha Qawmu Mūsá Min Ba`dihi Min Ĥulīyihim `Ijlāan Jasadāan Lahu Khuwārun 'Alam Yaraw 'Annahu Lā Yukallimuhum Wa Lā Yahdīhim Sabīlāan Attakhadhūhu Wa Kānū Žālimīna | In his absence the nation of Musa (Moses) made an image of a calf for worship from their jewelry which produced a mooing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor give them the guidance? Yet they took it for worship and became wrongdoers.[7.148] | وَاتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوسَى مِنْ بَعْدِهِِ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلاً جَسَداً لَهُُخُوَارٌ أَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّهُ لاَ يُكَلِّمُهُمْ وَلاَ يَهْدِيهِمْ سَبِيلاً اتَّخَذُوهُُوَكَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ |
| Wa Lammā Suqiţa Fī 'Aydīhim Wa Ra'aw 'Annahum Qad Đallū Qālū La'in Lam Yarĥamnā Rabbunā Wa Yaghfir Lanā Lanakūnanna Mina Al-Khāsirīna | When they felt ashamed about what they had done and realized that they had gone astray, they said: “If our Rabb does not have mercy on us and pardon us, we shall become losers."[7.149] | وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَرَأَوْا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّوا قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ |
| Wa Lammā Raja`a Mūsá 'Ilá Qawmihi Ghađbāna 'Asifāan Qāla Bi'samā Khalaftumūnī Min Ba`dī 'A`ajiltum 'Amra Rabbikum Wa 'Alqá Al-'Alwāĥa Wa 'Akhadha Bira'si 'Akhīhi Yajurruhu 'Ilayhi Qāla Abna 'Umma 'Inna Al-Qawma Astađ`afūnī Wa Kādū Yaqtulūnanī Falā Tushmit Biya Al-'A`dā'a Wa Lā Taj`alnī Ma`a Al-Qawmi Až-Žālimīna | When Musa came back to his people, he was extremely angry and sorrowful, and he said: “What an evil thing you have done in my place in my absence! Have you tried to hasten the retribution of your Rabb?” He put down the Holy Tablets and seized his brother by the hair of his head and dragged him closer. Haroon (Aaron) cried: “O son of my mother! The people overpowered me and almost killed me; do not make my enemies happy over me and do not count me among the wrongdoers."[7.150] | وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَى إِلَى قَوْمِهِِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفاً قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُونِي مِنْ بَعْدِي أَعَجِلْتُمْ أَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَلْقَى الأَلْوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِِ يَجُرُّهُ~ُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ ابْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ اسْتَضْعَفُونِي وَكَادُوا يَقْتُلُونَنِي فَلاَ تُشْمِتْ بِيَ الأَعْدَاءَ وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنِي مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Qāla Rabbi Aghfir Lī Wa Li'akhī Wa 'Adkhilnā Fī Raĥmatika Wa 'Anta 'Arĥamu Ar-Rāĥimīna | At this Musa said: “O Rabb! Forgive me and my brother! And admit us to Your mercy, for You are the Most Merciful of all."[7.151] | قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِأَخِي وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِي رَحْمَتِكَ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Attakhadhū Al-`Ijla Sayanāluhum Ghađabun Min Rabbihim Wa Dhillatun Fī Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Kadhalika Najzī Al-Muftarīna | Those who worshipped the calf have indeed incurred the wrath of their Rabb and disgrace in this life; thus do We recompense those who invent falsehoods.[7.152] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ سَيَنَالُهُمْ غَضَبٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَذِلَّةٌ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُفْتَرِينَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna `Amilū As-Sayyi'āti Thumma Tābū Min Ba`dihā Wa 'Āmanū 'Inna Rabbaka Min Ba`dihā Laghafūrun Raĥīmun | As for those who do evil deeds, then repent and become true believers thereafter, your Rabb is most surely the Forgiving, Merciful.[7.153] | وَالَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهَا وَآمَنُوا إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنْ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ |
| Wa Lammā Sakata `An Mūsá Al-Ghađabu 'Akhadha Al-'Alwāĥa Wa Fī Nuskhatihā Hudáan Wa Raĥmatun Lilladhīna Hum Lirabbihim Yarhabūna | When Musa’s anger calmed down he took up the Holy Tablets in whose writing there was guidance and mercy for those that fear their Rabb.[7.154] | وَلَمَّا سَكَتَ عَنْ مُوسَى الْغَضَبُ أَخَذَ الأَلْوَاحَ وَفِي نُسْخَتِهَا هُدىً وَرَحْمَة ٌ لِلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِرَبِّهِمْ يَرْهَبُونَ |
| Wa Akhtāra Mūsá Qawmahu Sab`īna Rajulāan Limīqātinā Falammā 'Akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Qāla Rabbi Law Shi'ta 'Ahlaktahum Min Qablu Wa 'Īyāya 'Atuhlikunā Bimā Fa`ala As-Sufahā'u Minnā 'In Hiya 'Illā Fitnatuka Tuđillu Bihā Man Tashā'u Wa Tahdī Man Tashā'u 'Anta Walīyunā Fāghfir Lanā Wa Arĥamnā Wa 'Anta Khayru Al-Ghāfirīna | Musa chose seventy men from his nation to accompany him to Our place of meeting. On their way when they were seized by a violent earthquake, he prayed: “O my Rabb! Had it been Your will, You could have destroyed them long ago, and myself too. Would You destroy us for the offense committed by some fools among us? That trial was ordained by You, to confound whom You willed and to guide whom You pleased. You are our Guardian, therefore, forgive us and have mercy on us; for You are the best of all forgivers![7.155] | وَاخْتَارَ مُوسَى قَوْمَهُُسَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً لِمِيقَاتِنَا فَلَمَّا أَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَإِيَّايَ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ السُّفَهَاءُ مِنَّا إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ أَنْتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ |
| Wa Aktub Lanā Fī Hadhihi Ad-Dunyā Ĥasanatan Wa Fī Al-'Ākhirati 'Innā Hudnā 'Ilayka Qāla `Adhābī 'Uşību Bihi Man 'Ashā'u Wa Raĥmatī Wasi`at Kulla Shay'in Fasa'aktubuhā Lilladhīna Yattaqūna Wa Yu'utūna Az-Zakāata Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Bi'āyātinā Yu'uminūna | O Allah ordain for us what is good in this life and in the Hereafter, surely we have turned to You." He replied: “I will inflict My punishment upon whom I please; yet My mercy encompasses everything. I will ordain special mercy for those who do righteous deeds, pay Zakah and believe in Our revelations." [7.156] | وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ قَالَ عَذَابِي أُصِيبُ بِهِِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ بِآيَاتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yattabi`ūna Ar-Rasūla An-Nabīya Al-'Ummīya Al-Ladhī Yajidūnahu Maktūbāan `Indahum Fī At-Tawrāati Wa Al-'Injīli Ya'muruhum Bil-Ma`rūfi Wa Yanhāhum `Ani Al-Munkari Wa Yuĥillu Lahumu Aţ-Ţayyibāti Wa Yuĥarrimu `Alayhimu Al-Khabā'itha Wa Yađa`u `Anhum 'Işrahum Wa Al-'Aghlāla Allatī Kānat `Alayhim Fa-Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Bihi Wa `Azzarūhu Wa Naşarūhu Wa Attaba`ū An-Nūra Al-Ladhī 'Unzila Ma`ahu 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna | Now, special mercy is assigned to those who follow the Rasool, the unlettered Prophet (Muhammad) - whom they shall find described in the Taurمt (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel). Who enjoins them what is good and forbids what is evil; makes pure things Halمl (lawful) for them and impure things Harمm (unlawful); relieves them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that were around their necks. Therefore, those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the Light which is sent down with him, will be the ones who will be successful in this life and the hereafter”.[7.157] | الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُُمَكْتُوباً عِنْدَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالأَغْلاَلَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِِ وَعَزَّرُوهُُوَنَصَرُوهُُوَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ~ُ أُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ |
| Qul Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nāsu 'Innī Rasūlu Al-Lahi 'Ilaykum Jamī`āan Al-Ladhī Lahu Mulku As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa Yuĥyī Wa Yumītu Fa'āminū Bil-Lahi Wa Rasūlihi An-Nabīyi Al-'Ummīyi Al-Ladhī Yu'uminu Bil-Lahi Wa Kalimātihi Wa Attabi`ūhu La`allakum Tahtadūna | O Muhammad, say: “O mankind! I am the Rasool of Allah towards all of you from He to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity but Him. He brings to life and causes to die. Therefore, believe in Allah and His Rasool, the unlettered Prophet (Muhammad) who believes in Allah and His Word. Follow him so that you may be rightly guided."[7.158] | قُلْ يَاأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعاً الَّذِي لَهُُمُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَكَلِمَاتِهِِ وَاتَّبِعُوهُُلَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ |
| Wa Min Qawmi Mūsá 'Ummatun Yahdūna Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Bihi Ya`dilūna | In the nation of Musa (Moses) there were some who guided others with the truth and thereby established justice.[7.159] | وَمِنْ قَوْمِ مُوسَى أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِِ يَعْدِلُونَ |
| Wa Qaţţa`nāhumu Athnatay `Ashrata 'Asbāţāan 'Umamāan Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilá Mūsá 'Idh Astasqāhu Qawmuhu 'Ani Ađrib Bi`aşāka Al-Ĥajara Fānbajasat Minhu Athnatā `Ashrata `Aynāan Qad `Alima Kullu 'Unāsin Mashrabahum Wa Žallalnā `Alayhimu Al-Ghamāma Wa 'Anzalnā `Alayhimu Al-Manna Wa As-Salwá Kulū Min Ţayyibāti Mā Razaqnākum Wa Mā Žalamūnā Wa Lakin Kānū 'Anfusahum Yažlimūna | We divided them into twelve tribes, as nations; and when his thirsty people asked him for water, We revealed to Musa: “Strike the rock with your staff." Thereupon twelve springs gushed out from the rock, each tribe was specified its drinking place. We caused the clouds to cast shadow over them and sent down to them manna and salva for their food, saying: “Eat of the pure things We have provided for you,” but they rebelled and by doing so they did not harm Us but they did injustice to their own souls.[7.160] | وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطاً أُمَماً وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى إِذْ اسْتَسْقَاهُُقَوْمُهُ~ُ أَنِ اضْرِب بِعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ فَانْبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْناً قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٍ مَشْرَبَهُمْ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَى كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَكِنْ كَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ |
| Wa 'Idh Qīla Lahumu Askunū Hadhihi Al-Qaryata Wa Kulū Minhā Ĥaythu Shi'tum Wa Qūlū Ĥiţţatun Wa Adkhulū Al-Bāba Sujjadāan Naghfir Lakum Khaţī'ātikum Sanazīdu Al-Muĥsinīna | When it was said to them: “Reside in this town and eat therein whatever you please and say ‘Hittatun’ (forgive us) and enter the gate in a posture of humility; We will forgive you your sins and increase all the more the reward for such righteous people."[7.161] | وَإِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْكُنُوا هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةَ وَكُلُوا مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ وَقُولُوا حِطَّةٌ وَادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّداً نَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطِيئَاتِكُمْ سَنَزِيدُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| Fabaddala Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Minhum Qawlāan Ghayra Al-Ladhī Qīla Lahum Fa'arsalnā `Alayhim Rijzāan Mina As-Samā'i Bimā Kānū Yažlimūna | But the wicked among them changed that word which was said to them, as a result We sent down a scourge upon them from heaven for their wrong doings.[7.162] | فَبَدَّلَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ قَوْلاً غَيْرَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزاً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَظْلِمُونَ |
| Wa As'alhum `Ani Al-Qaryati Allatī Kānat Ĥāđirata Al-Baĥri 'Idh Ya`dūna Fī As-Sabti 'Idh Ta'tīhim Ĥītānuhum Yawma Sabtihim Shurra`āan Wa Yawma Lā Yasbitūna Lā Ta'tīhim Kadhālika Nablūhum Bimā Kānū Yafsuqūna | Ask them, about the town which was situated on the sea shore, what happened when they transgressed in the matter of Sabbath. On the day of their Sabbath the fish appeared before them on the surface of the water but on the days other than their Sabbath they never came near them; thus did We tempt them because they transgressed.[7.163] | وَاسْأَلْهُمْ عَنِ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعاً وَيَوْمَ لاَ يَسْبِتُونَ لاَ تَأْتِيهِمْ كَذَلِكَ نَبْلُوهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ |
| Wa 'Idh Qālat 'Ummatun Minhum Lima Ta`ižūna Qawmāan Al-Lahu Muhlikuhum 'Aw Mu`adhdhibuhum `Adhābāan Shadīdāan Qālū Ma`dhiratan 'Ilá Rabbikum Wa La`allahum Yattaqūna | Also remind them about the conversation among some of them, when some of them asked: “Why do you admonish a people whom Allah will destroy or sternly punish?” They replied: “To be able to offer an excuse before our Rabb that we did discharge our duty, and also in the hope that they may refrain from His disobedience."[7.164] | وَإِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْماً اللَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَاباً شَدِيداً قَالُوا مَعْذِرَةً إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ |
| Falammā Nasū Mā Dhukkirū Bihi 'Anjaynā Al-Ladhīna Yanhawna `Ani As-Sū'i Wa 'Akhadhnā Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Bi`adhābin Ba'īsin Bimā Kānū Yafsuqūna | However, when they disregarded the reminder, We delivered those who forbade evil and We overtook those who were wrongdoers with stern punishment because of their transgression.[7.165] | فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ أَنْجَيْنَا الَّذِينَ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ السُّوءِ وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا بِعَذَابٍ بَئِيسٍ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ |
| Falammā `Ataw `An Mā Nuhū `Anhu Qulnā Lahum Kūnū Qiradatan Khāsi'īna | But when after that they persisted in their forbidden ways, We said to them: “Be detested apes."[7.166] | فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا عَنْ مَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا قِرَدَةً خَاسِئِينَ |
| Wa 'Idh Ta'adhdhana Rabbuka Layab`athanna `Alayhim 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyāmati Man Yasūmuhum Sū'a Al-`Adhābi 'Inna Rabbaka Lasarī`u Al-`Iqābi Wa 'Innahu Laghafūrun Raĥīmun | Also remind them when your Rabb declared that He would raise against them others who would afflict them with grievous torment till the Day of Resurrection. Swift is the retribution of your Rabb, yet He is also the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.[7.167] | وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ يَسُومُهُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُُلَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ |
| Wa Qaţţa`nāhum Fī Al-'Arđi 'Umamāan Minhumu Aş-Şāliĥūna Wa Minhum Dūna Dhālika Wa Balawnāhum Bil-Ĥasanāti Wa As-Sayyi'āti La`allahum Yarji`ūna | We broke their unity as a nation and dispersed them into different communities all over the earth - some of them are righteous and others are the opposite - We tested them with both blessings and misfortunes so that they might turn to the Right Way.[7.168] | وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ أُمَماً مِنْهُمُ الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَلِكَ وَبَلَوْنَاهُمْ بِالْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ |
| Fakhalafa Min Ba`dihim Khalfun Warithū Al-Kitāba Ya'khudhūna `Arađa Hādhā Al-'Adná Wa Yaqūlūna Sayughfaru Lanā Wa 'In Ya'tihim `Arađun Mithluhu Ya'khudhūhu 'Alam Yu'ukhadh `Alayhim Mīthāqu Al-Kitābi 'An Lā Yaqūlū `Alá Al-Lahi 'Illā Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Darasū Mā Fīhi Wa Ad-Dāru Al-'Ākhiratu Khayrun Lilladhīna Yattaqūna 'Afalā Ta`qilūna | Then they were succeeded by an evil generation who inherited the Book; they indulged in the vanities of this nether life, saying: “We expect to be forgiven” assuming that they are favorites of Allah and somehow He will spare them. Yet if similar vanities come their way they would again seize them. Was not a covenant taken from them in the Book that they would not speak anything about Allah except the truth? And they have studied what is in the Book. Best for the righteous is the home of the hereafter, don’t you understand?[7.169] | فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَذَا الأَدْنَى وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِنْ يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌ مِثْلُهُُيَأْخُذُوهُ~ُ أَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِيثَاقُ الْكِتَابِ أَنْ لاَ يَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُوا مَا فِيهِِ وَالدَّارُ الآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Yumassikūna Bil-Kitābi Wa 'Aqāmū Aş-Şalāata 'Innā Lā Nuđī`u 'Ajra Al-Muşliĥīna | As for those who strictly observe the Book and establish Salah, surely We never let the reward of such righteous people go waste.[7.170] | وَالَّذِينَ يُمَسِّكُونَ بِالْكِتَابِ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاَةَ إِنَّا لاَ نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ |
| Wa 'Idh Nataqnā Al-Jabala Fawqahum Ka'annahu Žullatun Wa Žannū 'Annahu Wāqi`un Bihim Khudhū Mā 'Ātaynākum Biqūwatin Wa Adhkurū Mā Fīhi La`allakum Tattaqūna | Remember when We suspended the mountain over them as though it was an umbrella and they feared it was going to fall on them and We said: “Hold firmly to the Book that We have given you and be mindful of what is in it, so that you may guard yourselves against evil."[7.171] | وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا الْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُُظُلَّةٌ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُُوَاقِعٌ بِهِمْ خُذُوا مَا آتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ وَاذْكُرُوا مَا فِيهِِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ |
| Wa 'Idh 'Akhadha Rabbuka Min Banī 'Ādama Min Žuhūrihim Dhurrīyatahum Wa 'Ash/hadahum `Alá 'Anfusihim 'Alastu Birabbikum Qālū Balá Shahidnā 'An Taqūlū Yawma Al-Qiyāmati 'Innā Kunnā `An Hādhā Ghāfilīna | O Prophet, remind mankind about the incident when your Rabb brought into existence the offspring from the loins of Adam and his descendants (virtually each single individual of mankind) and made them testify about themselves. Allah asked them: “Am I not your Rabb?” They all replied: “Yes! We bear witness that You are." This We did, lest you mankind should say on the Day of Resurrection: “We were not aware of this fact that You are our Rabb and that there will be a Day of Judgment.[7.172] | وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى شَهِدْنَا أَنْ تَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَذَا غَافِلِينَ |
| 'Aw Taqūlū 'Innamā 'Ashraka 'Ābā'uunā Min Qablu Wa Kunnā Dhurrīyatan Min Ba`dihim 'Afatuhlikunā Bimā Fa`ala Al-Mubţilūna | or lest you should say: "Our forefathers started the practice of shirk and we just followed, being their descendants. Will you then destroy us on account of following the sin committed by those wrongdoers?”[7.173] | أَوْ تَقُولُوا إِنَّمَا أَشْرَكَ آبَاؤُنَا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ |
| Wa Kadhalika Nufaşşilu Al-'Āyāti Wa La`allahum Yarji`ūna | Thus do We spell out Our revelations so that you might return to the Right Way.[7.174] | وَكَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الآيَاتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ |
| Wa Atlu `Alayhim Naba'a Al-Ladhī 'Ātaynāhu 'Āyātinā Fānsalakha Minhā Fa'atba`ahu Ash-Shayţānu Fakāna Mina Al-Ghāwīna | Tell them the story of that person to whom We sent our revelations but he turned away from them, as a result Shaitمn persuaded him until he become one of the misguided.[7.175] | وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ الَّذِي آتَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا فَانسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ |
| Wa Law Shi'nā Larafa`nāhu Bihā Wa Lakinnahu 'Akhlada 'Ilá Al-'Arđi Wa Attaba`a Hawāhu Famathaluhu Kamathali Al-Kalbi 'In Taĥmil `Alayhi Yalhath 'Aw Tatruk/hu Yalhath Dhālika Mathalu Al-Qawmi Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Fāqşuşi Al-Qaşaşa La`allahum Yatafakkarūna | Had it been Our will, We would have exalted him through those revelations; but he clung to this earthly life and followed his own desires. His similitude is that of a dog: if you chase him he lolls out his tongue and if you leave him alone he still lolls out his tongue. Such are those who deny Our revelations, tell them these parables, so that they might think over their behavior to Our revelations.[7.176] | وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُُبِهَا وَلَكِنَّهُ~ُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُُفَمَثَلُهُُكَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ إِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْ ذَلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ |
| Sā'a Mathalāan Al-Qawmu Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa 'Anfusahum Kānū Yažlimūna | Very bad is the example of those people who deny Our revelations and wrong their own souls.[7.177] | سَاءَ مَثَلاً الْقَوْمُ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَأَنفُسَهُمْ كَانُوا يَظْلِمُونَ |
| Man Yahdi Al-Lahu Fahuwa Al-Muhtadī Wa Man Yuđlil Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-Khāsirūna | Only he whom Allah guides is rightly guided; and whom He confounds will become the losers.[7.178] | مَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِي وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Dhara'nā Lijahannama Kathīrāan Mina Al-Jinni Wa Al-'Insi Lahum Qulūbun Lā Yafqahūna Bihā Wa Lahum 'A`yunun Lā Yubşirūna Bihā Wa Lahum 'Ādhānun Lā Yasma`ūna Bihā 'Ūlā'ika Kāl'an`āmi Bal Hum 'Ađallu 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Ghāfilūna | Certainly, We have destined many Jinns and human beings for hell; those are the ones who have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, they have ears with which they do not hear. They are like animals - or even worse than them , because they are those who are heedless.[7.179] | وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيراً مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالإِنسِ لَهُمْ قُلُوب ٌ لاَ يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْيُن ٌ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ آذَان ٌ لاَ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا أُوْلَائِكَ كَالأَنعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ أُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ |
| Wa Lillahi Al-'Asmā'u Al-Ĥusná Fād`ūhu Bihā Wa Dharū Al-Ladhīna Yulĥidūna Fī 'Asmā'ihi Sayujzawna Mā Kānū Ya`malūna | Allah has the most excellent names (over ninety-nine attributes); call on Him by them ; and shun those people who use profanity in His Names, such people shall be requited for their misdeeds.[7.180] | وَلِلَّهِ الأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى فَادْعُوهُُبِهَا وَذَرُوا الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي أَسْمَائِهِِ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Wa Mimman Khalaqnā 'Ummatun Yahdūna Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Bihi Ya`dilūna | Among those whom We have created, there are some people who guide others with the truth and establish justice therewith.[7.181] | وَمِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِِ يَعْدِلُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu Lā Ya`lamūna | Those who deny Our revelations, We draw them step by step closer to destruction in ways that they do not realize,[7.182] | وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Wa 'Umlī Lahum 'Inna Kaydī Matīnun | and even though I grant them respite; My plan is surely effective.[7.183] | وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ |
| 'Awalam Yatafakkarū Mā Bişāĥibihim Min Jinnatin 'In Huwa 'Illā Nadhīrun Mubīnun | Has it never occurred to them that their companion is not a madman; he is merely a plain Warner.[7.184] | أَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُوا مَا بِصَاحِبِهِمْ مِنْ جِنَّةٍ إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ |
| 'Awalam Yanžurū Fī Malakūti As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Khalaqa Al-Lahu Min Shay'in Wa 'An `Asá 'An Yakūna Qadi Aqtaraba 'Ajaluhum Fabi'ayyi Ĥadīthin Ba`dahu Yu'uminūna | Have they not pondered over the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever Allah has created, and that maybe their hour of death has come closer? In what message after this would they then believe?[7.185] | أَوَلَمْ يَنظُرُوا فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَأَنْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُُيُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Man Yuđlili Al-Lahu Falā Hādiya Lahu Wa Yadharuhum Fī Ţughyānihim Ya`mahūna | None can guide those whom Allah confounds and leaves them blundering about in their rebellious transgression.[7.186] | مَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَلاَ هَادِيَ لَهُُوَيَذَرُهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ |
| Yas'alūnaka `Ani As-Sā`ati 'Ayyāna Mursāhā Qul 'Innamā `Ilmuhā `Inda Rabbī Lā Yujallīhā Liwaqtihā 'Illā Huwa Thaqulat Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Lā Ta'tīkum 'Illā Baghtatan Yas'alūnaka Ka'annaka Ĥafīyun `Anhā Qul 'Innamā `Ilmuhā `Inda Al-Lahi Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna | They ask you about the Hour of Doom and when will it take place. Say: “Knowledge about it rests only with my Rabb: He Himself will disclose it at the proper time. Heavy is its weight in the heavens and the earth. It will not come gradually but all of a sudden. They ask you as if you yourself were in search of it. Tell them: “The knowledge about it rests only with Allah though most people do not understand."[7.187] | يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّي لاَ يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلاَّ هُوَ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ لاَ تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلاَّ بَغْتَةً يَسْأَلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنْهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Qul Lā 'Amliku Linafsī Naf`āan Wa Lā Đarrāan 'Illā Mā Shā'a Al-Lahu Wa Law Kuntu 'A`lamu Al-Ghayba Lāstakthartu Mina Al-Khayri Wa Mā Massaniya As-Sū'u 'In 'Anā 'Illā Nadhīrun Wa Bashīrun Liqawmin Yu'uminūna | Further tell them: “I have no power to acquire benefit or avert any harm from myself, only that happens which Allah wants. Had I possessed the knowledge of the unseen, I would have acquired many benefits to myself; and no harm would have touched me. I am no more than a Warner and bearer of good news for the true believers."[7.188] | قُلْ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِي نَفْعاً وَلاَ ضَرّاً إِلاَّ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَلَوْ كُنتُ أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ لاَسْتَكْثَرْتُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَمَا مَسَّنِيَ السُّوءُ إِنْ أَنَا إِلاَّ نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqakum Min Nafsin Wāĥidatin Wa Ja`ala Minhā Zawjahā Liyaskuna 'Ilayhā Falammā Taghashshāhā Ĥamalat Ĥamlāan Khafīfāan Famarrat Bihi Falammā 'Athqalat Da`awā Al-Laha Rabbahumā La'in 'Ātaytanā Şāliĥāan Lanakūnanna Mina Ash-Shākirīna | He is the one who created you from a single being and from that being He created his mate, so that he might find comfort with her. When he covers her, she conceives a light burden and walks around with it. When it grows heavy they both pray to Allah their Rabb saying: “If You will grant us a healthy child, we will be truly thankful."[7.189] | هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا لِيَسْكُنَ إِلَيْهَا فَلَمَّا تَغَشَّاهَا حَمَلَتْ حَمْلاً خَفِيفاً فَمَرَّتْ بِهِِ فَلَمَّا أَثْقَلَتْ دَعَوَا اللَّهَ رَبَّهُمَا لَئِنْ آتَيْتَنَا صَالِحاً لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ |
| Falammā 'Ātāhumā Şāliĥāan Ja`alā Lahu Shurakā'a Fīmā 'Ātāhumā Fata`ālá Al-Lahu `Ammā Yushrikūna | But when He gives them a healthy child, they both begin to associate partners with Him in what He has given them; but Allah is exalted far above the shirk they commit of associating other deities with Him as His partners.[7.190] | فَلَمَّا آتَاهُمَا صَالِحاً جَعَلاَ لَهُُشُرَكَاءَ فِيمَا آتَاهُمَا فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ |
| 'Ayushrikūna Mā Lā Yakhluqu Shay'āan Wa Hum Yukhlaqūna | Do they associate with Him those deities who can create nothing but are themselves created,[7.191] | أَيُشْرِكُونَ مَا لاَ يَخْلُقُ شَيْئاً وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ |
| Wa Lā Yastaţī`ūna Lahum Naşrāan Wa Lā 'Anfusahum Yanşurūna | they have neither the ability to help them, nor can they help themselves?[7.192] | وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْراً وَلاَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ |
| Wa 'In Tad`ūhum 'Ilá Al-Hudá Lā Yattabi`ūkum Sawā'un `Alaykum 'Ada`awtumūhum 'Am 'Antum Şāmitūna | If you invite them to guidance they will not follow you. It will be all the same for you whether you call them or hold your peace.[7.193] | وَإِنْ تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَى لاَ يَتَّبِعُوكُمْ سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ أَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمْ أَمْ أَنْتُمْ صَامِتُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Tad`ūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi `Ibādun 'Amthālukum Fād`ūhum Falyastajībū Lakum 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna | In fact those whom you call besides Allah are bondmen, like yourselves. Well call them, and let them answer you, if what you say is true![7.194] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ عِبَادٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ فَادْعُوهُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ |
| 'Alahum 'Arjulun Yamshūna Bihā 'Am Lahum 'Aydin Yabţishūna Bihā 'Am Lahum 'A`yunun Yubşirūna Bihā 'Am Lahum 'Ādhānun Yasma`ūna Bihā Quli Ad`ū Shurakā'akum Thumma Kīdūni Falā Tunžirūni | Have they feet to walk with? Have they hands to hold with? Have they eyes to see with? Have they ears to hear with? O Muhammad, say: “Call on your shorakم' (partners you have set up besides Allah) and collectively plot against me and give me no respite![7.195] | أَلَهُمْ أَرْجُلٌ يَمْشُونَ بِهَا أَمْ لَهُمْ أَيْدٍ يَبْطِشُونَ بِهَا أَمْ لَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا أَمْ لَهُمْ آذَانٌ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا قُلِ ادْعُوا شُرَكَاءَكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيدُونِ فَلاَ تُنظِرُونِ |
| 'Inna Walīyiya Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Nazzala Al-Kitāba Wa Huwa Yatawallá Aş-Şāliĥīna | My protector is Allah Who has revealed this Book and He is the protecting friend of the righteous.[7.196] | إِنَّ وَلِيِّيَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّالِحِينَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Tad`ūna Min Dūnihi Lā Yastaţī`ūna Naşrakum Wa Lā 'Anfusahum Yanşurūna | On the contrary, those whom you call besides Him have neither the ability to help you, nor can they help themselves.[7.197] | وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلاَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ |
| Wa 'In Tad`ūhum 'Ilá Al-Hudá Lā Yasma`ū Wa Tarāhum Yanžurūna 'Ilayka Wa Hum Lā Yubşirūna | If you call them to guidance, they cannot even hear what you say, although it appears as if they are looking at you, they do not see.[7.198] | وَإِنْ تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَى لاَ يَسْمَعُوا وَتَرَاهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ |
| Khudhi Al-`Afwa Wa 'Mur Bil-`Urfi Wa 'A`riđ `Ani Al-Jāhilīna | Show forgiveness, speak for justice and avoid the ignorant.[7.199] | خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ |
| Wa 'Immā Yanzaghannaka Mina Ash-Shayţāni Nazghun Fāsta`idh Bil-Lahi 'Innahu Samī`un `Alīmun | If Shaitمn tempts you, seek refuge with Allah; for He is the one Who is All Hearing, Knowing.[7.200] | وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُُسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Attaqaw 'Idhā Massahum Ţā'ifun Mina Ash-Shayţāni Tadhakkarū Fa'idhā Hum Mubşirūna | Those who fear Allah, when they are tempted by Shaitمn, they have but to remember Allah and they shall see the light (right course of action)![7.201] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُوا فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْصِرُونَ |
| Wa 'Ikhwānuhum Yamuddūnahum Fī Al-Ghayyi Thumma Lā Yuqşirūna | As for Shaitمn’s brothers, they drag them deeper into error and never relax their efforts.[7.202] | وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الغَيِّ ثُمَّ لاَ يُقْصِرُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Lam Ta'tihim Bi'āyatin Qālū Lawlā Ajtabaytahā Qul 'Innamā 'Attabi`u Mā Yūĥá 'Ilayya Min Rabbī Hādhā Başā'iru Min Rabbikum Wa Hudáan Wa Raĥmatun Liqawmin Yu'uminūna | When you, O Muhammad, do not bring them a revelation, they say: “Have you not yet invented?” Tell them: “I follow only what is revealed to me from my Rabb. This Book contains veritable insight from your Rabb, a guidance and blessing for the true believers."[7.203] | وَإِذَا لَمْ تَأْتِهِمْ بِآيَةٍ قَالُوا لَوْلاَ اجْتَبَيْتَهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَتَّبِعُ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيَّ مِنْ رَبِّي هَذَا بَصَائِرُمِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَهُدىً وَرَحْمَة ٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Quri'a Al-Qur'ānu Fāstami`ū Lahu Wa 'Anşitū La`allakum Turĥamūna | When the Qur’an is recited, listen to it with complete silence so that you may be shown mercy.[7.204] | وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُُوَأَنصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ |
| Wa Adhkur Rabbaka Fī Nafsika Tađarru`āan Wa Khīfatan Wa Dūna Al-Jahri Mina Al-Qawli Bil-Ghudūwi Wa Al-'Āşāli Wa Lā Takun Mina Al-Ghāfilīna | Bring your Rabb to remembrance deep in your soul with humility and in reverence without raising your voice, both in the mornings and in the evenings; and be not of those who are heedless.[7.205] | وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعاً وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ الْجَهْرِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ وَلاَ تَكُنْ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna `Inda Rabbika Lā Yastakbirūna `An `Ibādatihi Wa Yusabbiĥūnahu Wa Lahu Yasjudūna | Surely those who are close to your Rabb do not feel too proud to worship Him; they declare His glory and prostrate themselves before Him.[7.206] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لاَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِِ وَيُسَبِّحُونَهُُوَلَهُُيَسْجُدُونَ |
