'Alif-Lām-Mīm Alif L'm M'm.[2.1] --
Dhālika Al-Kitābu Lā Rayba Fīhi Hudáan Lilmuttaqīna This is the Book in which there is no doubt. (Since its Author, Allah, the Creator of this universe, possesses complete knowledge, there is no room for doubt about its contents.) It is a guide for those who are God conscious,[2.2]
Al-Ladhīna Yu'uminūna Bil-Ghaybi Wa Yuqīmūna Aş-Şalāata Wa Mimmā Razaqnāhum Yunfiqūna who believe in the Unseen, who establish Salah (five regular daily prayers) and spend in charity out of what We have provided for their sustenance;[2.3]
Wa Al-Ladhīna Yu'uminūna Bimā 'Unzila 'Ilayka Wa Mā 'Unzila Min Qablika Wa Bil-'Ākhirati Hum Yūqinūna who believe in this Revelation (the Qur'an) which is sent to you (O Muhammad) and the Revelations which were sent before you (Torah, Psalms, Gospel...) and firmly believe in the Hereafter.[2.4]
'Ūlā'ika `Alá Hudáan Min Rabbihim Wa 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna They are on true Guidance from their Rabb and they are the ones who will attain salvation.[2.5]
'Inna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Sawā'un `Alayhim 'A 'Andhartahum 'Am Lam Tundhirhum Lā Yu'uminūna In fact, as for those who reject Faith; it is the same, whether you warn them or you don't, they will not believe.[2.6]
Khatama Al-Lahu `Alá Qulūbihim Wa `Alá Sam`ihim Wa `Alá 'Abşārihim Ghishāwatun Wa Lahum `Adhābun `Ažīmun Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing, their eyes are covered, and there is a grievous punishment for them.[2.7]
Wa Mina An-Nāsi Man Yaqūlu 'Āmannā Bil-Lahi Wa Bil-Yawmi Al-'Ākhiri Wa Mā Hum Bimu'uminīna There are some people who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day yet they are not true believers.[2.8]
Yukhādi`ūna Al-Laha Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Mā Yakhda`ūna 'Illā 'Anfusahum Wa Mā Yash`urūna They try to deceive Allah and the believers. However, they deceive none except themselves yet they do not realize it.[2.9]
Fī Qulūbihim Marađun Fazādahumu Al-Lahu Marađāan Wa Lahum `Adhābun 'Alīmun Bimā Kānū Yakdhibūna There is a disease of deception in their heart; and Allah lets their disease increase, and they shall have painful punishment for the lies they have told.[2.10]
Wa 'Idhā Qīla Lahum Lā Tufsidū Fī Al-'Arđi Qālū 'Innamā Naĥnu Muşliĥūna When it is said to them: Do not make mischief on earth, they say: We make peace.[2.11]
'Alā 'Innahum Humu Al-Mufsidūna Wa Lakin Lā Yash`urūna Beware! They are the ones who make mischief but they do not realize it.[2.12]
Wa 'Idhā Qīla Lahum 'Āminū Kamā 'Āmana An-Nāsu Qālū 'Anu'uminu Kamā 'Āmana As-Sufahā'u 'Alā 'Innahum Humu As-Sufahā'u Wa Lakin Lā Ya`lamūna When they are told: Believe as the others believe they sarcastically ask: Should we believe like fools? Be aware! They themselves are the fools, if only they could understand.[2.13]
Wa 'Idhā Laqū Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Qālū 'Āmannā Wa 'Idhā Khalaw 'Ilá Shayāţīnihim Qālū 'Innā Ma`akum 'Innamā Naĥnu Mustahzi'ūna When they meet the believers they say: We are believers, but when they are alone with their shaitns, they say: We are really with you, we were only mocking the believers.[2.14]
Al-Lahu Yastahzi'u Bihim Wa Yamudduhum Fī Ţughyānihim Ya`mahūna Allah will throw back their mockery on them and leave them alone in their trespasses; so they wander to and fro like the blind.[2.15]
'Ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Ashtaraw Ađ-Đalālata Bil-Hudá Famā Rabiĥat Tijāratuhum Wa Mā Kānū Muhtadīna These are the people who barter guidance for error: but their bargain is profitless and they are not going to be guided.[2.16]
Mathaluhum Kamathali Al-Ladhī Astawqada Nārāan Falammā 'Ađā'at Mā Ĥawlahu Dhahaba Al-Lahu Binūrihim Wa Tarakahum Fī Žulumātin Lā Yubşirūna Their example is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it illuminated all around him Allah took away their light (their eyesight) and left them in utter darkness: they could see nothing.[2.17]
Şummun Bukmun `Umyun Fahum Lā Yarji`ūna Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will never return to the Right Way.[2.18]
'Aw Kaşayyibin Mina As-Samā'i Fīhi Žulumātun Wa Ra`dun Wa Barqun Yaj`alūna 'Aşābi`ahum Fī 'Ādhānihim Mina Aş-Şawā`iqi Ĥadhara Al-Mawti Wa Allāhu Muĥīţun Bil-Kāfirīna Or another example is that of a dark storm-cloud in the sky charged with thunder and lightning. They press their fingers to their ears at the sound of each stunning thunderclap for fear of death: Allah is encircling the unbelievers from all sides.[2.19]
Yakādu Al-Barqu Yakhţafu 'Abşārahum Kullamā 'Ađā'a Lahum Mashaw Fīhi Wa 'Idhā 'Ažlama `Alayhim Qāmū Wa Law Shā'a Al-Lahu Ladhahaba Bisam`ihim Wa 'Abşārihim 'Inna Al-Laha `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun The lightning terrifies them as if it was going to snatch away their eyesight; whenever it flashes they walk on; when it becomes dark, they stand still. And if Allah wanted He could have totally taken away their hearing and their sight; for Allah has power over everything.[2.20]
Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nāsu A`budū Rabbakumu Al-Ladhī Khalaqakum Wa Al-Ladhīna Min Qablikum La`allakum Tattaqūna O mankind! Worship your Rabb Who created you and created those who came before you; by doing this you may expect to guard yourself against evil.[2.21]
Al-Ladhī Ja`ala Lakumu Al-'Arđa Firāshāan Wa As-Samā'a Binā'an Wa 'Anzala Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fa'akhraja Bihi Mina Ath-Thamarāti Rizqāan Lakum Falā Taj`alū Lillahi 'Andādāan Wa 'Antum Ta`lamūna It is He Who has made the earth a floor for you and the sky a canopy; and it is He Who sends down rain from the sky for the growth of fruits for your sustenance. Therefore, do not knowingly set up rivals to Allah.[2.22]
Wa 'In Kuntum Fī Raybin Mimmā Nazzalnā `Alá `Abdinā Fa'tū Bisūratin Min Mithlihi Wa AdShuhadā'akum Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna If you are in doubt as to whether the revelations which We have sent to Our servant (Muhammad) are from Us or not, then produce one Srah like this; and call your witnesses (gods that you call upon) besides Allah to assist you, if you are right in your claim.[2.23]
Fa'in Lam Taf`alū Wa Lan Taf`alū Fa Attaqū An-Nāra Allatī Waqūduhā An-Nāsu Wa Al-Ĥijāratu 'U`iddat Lilkāfirīna But if you are unable to do so, and you can never do so, then fear the Hell fire, whose fuel is men and stones which is prepared for the unbelievers.[2.24]
Wa Bashshiri Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti 'Anna Lahum Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Kullamā Ruziqū Minhā Min Thamaratin Rizqāan Qālū Hādhā Al-Ladhī Ruziqnā Min Qablu Wa 'Utū Bihi Mutashābihāan Wa Lahum Fīhā 'Azwājun Muţahharatun Wa Hum Fīhā Khālidūna Give glad tidings to those who believe in this Book and do good deeds in accordance with its teachings that for them there will be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they will be given fruits to eat they will say: "This is similar to the one we used to eat before on earth," for they will be provided fruits which will resemble the fruits on the earth for their easy identification and enjoyment; and for them there will be chaste virgin spouses, and they shall live therein for ever.[2.25]
'Inna Al-Laha Lā Yastaĥyī 'An Yađriba Mathalāan Mā Ba`ūđatan Famā Fawqahā Fa'ammā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Faya`lamūna 'Annahu Al-Ĥaqqu Min Rabbihim Wa 'Ammā Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Fayaqūlūna Mādhā 'Arāda Al-Lahu Bihadhā Mathalāan Yuđillu Bihi Kathīrāan Wa Yahdī Bihi Kathīrāan Wa Mā Yuđillu Bihi 'Illā Al-Fāsiqīna Allah does not mind using the similitude of a gnat or an even more insignificant creature to teach a lesson. Those who believe, know that it is the truth from their Rabb; but the unbelievers say: What does Allah mean by such a similitude? By such a similitude Allah confounds many and enlightens many. He confounds none except the transgressors:[2.26] ~
Al-Ladhīna Yanquđūna `Ahda Al-Lahi Min Ba`di Mīthāqihi Wa Yaqţa`ūna Mā 'Amara Al-Lahu Bihi 'An Yūşala Wa Yufsidūna Fī Al-'Arđi 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Khāsirūna those who break Allahs Covenant after accepting it, and who cut aside what Allah has ordered to be united and cause mischief on earth. It is they who are the losers.[2.27] ~
Kayfa Takfurūna Bil-Lahi Wa Kuntum 'Amwātāan Fa'aĥyākum Thumma Yumītukum Thumma Yuĥyīkum Thumma 'Ilayhi Turja`ūna How can you deny Allah? Did He not give you life when you were lifeless; and will He not cause you to die and again bring you to life; and will you not ultimately return to Him ?[2.28]
Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa Lakum Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Jamī`āan Thumma Astawá 'Ilá As-Samā'i Fasawwāhunna Sab`a Samāwātin Wa Huwa Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun It is He Who has created for you all that there is in the earth; and directed Himself towards the sky and fashioned it into seven heavens. He has perfect knowledge of everything.[2.29]
Wa 'Idh Qāla Rabbuka Lilmalā'ikati 'Innī Jā`ilun Al-'Arđi Khalīfatan Qālū 'Ataj`alu Fīhā Man Yufsidu Fīhā Wa Yasfiku Ad-Dimā'a Wa Naĥnu Nusabbiĥu Biĥamdika Wa Nuqaddisu Laka Qāla 'Innī 'A`lamu Mā Lā Ta`lamūna Note that occasion, when your Rabb said to the angels: I am going to place a vicegerent on earth. They said: "Will You place there one who will make mischief and shed blood while we sing Your praises and glorify Your name?" Allah said: "I know what you know not."[2.30]
Wa `Allama 'Ādama Al-'Asmā'a Kullahā Thumma `Arađahum `Alá Al-Malā'ikati Faqāla 'Anbi'ūnī Bi'asmā'i Hā'uulā' 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna He taught Adam the names of all things; then He presented the things to the angels and said: "Tell Me the names of these if what you say is true?" (Allah did this to show Adams special qualities of learning and memory).[2.31]
Qālū Subĥānaka Lā `Ilma Lanā 'Illā Mā `Allamtanā 'Innaka 'Anta Al-`Alīmu Al-Ĥakīmu "Glory to You," they replied, "we have no knowledge except what You have taught us: in fact You are the One who is perfect in knowledge and wisdom."[2.32]
Qāla Yā 'Ādamu 'Anbi'hum Bi'asmā'ihim Falammā 'Anba'ahum Bi'asmā'ihim Qāla 'Alam 'Aqul Lakum 'Innī 'A`lamu Ghayba As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa 'A`lamu Mā Tubdūna Wa Mā Kuntum Taktumūna Allah said: "O Adam! Tell them the names." When Adam told them the names, Allah said: "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth and I know what you reveal and what you conceal?"[2.33]
Wa 'Idh Qulnā Lilmalā'ikati Asjudū Li'dama Fasajadū 'Illā 'Iblīsa 'Abá Wa Astakbara Wa Kāna Mina Al-Kāfirīna When We ordered the angels: "Prostrate before Adam in respect," they all prostrated except Iblees (Shaitn) who refused in his arrogance and became a disbeliever.[2.34]
Wa Qulnā Yā 'Ādamu Askun 'Anta Wa Zawjuka Al-Jannata Wa Kulā Minhā Raghadāan Ĥaythu Shi'tumā Wa Lā Taqrabā Hadhihi Ash-Shajarata Fatakūnā Mina Až-Žālimīna To Adam We said: "Dwell with your wife in Paradise and eat anything you want from its bountiful food from wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, or you shall both become transgressors."[2.35]

Fatalaqqá 'Ādamu Min Rabbihi Kalimātin Fatāba `Alayhi 'Innahu Huwa At-Tawwābu Ar-Raĥīmu Then Adam received appropriate words from his Rabb and repented, and Allah accepted his repentance. Surely He is the Acceptor of Repentance, the Merciful.[2.37]
Qulnā Ahbiţū Minhā Jamī`āan Fa'immā Ya'tiyannakum Minnī Hudáan Faman Tabi`a Hudāya Falā Khawfun `Alayhim Wa Lā Hum Yaĥzanūna "Get down from here all of you," We said at the time of Adams departure from Paradise. "Henceforth there shall come to you guidance from Me, those who accept and follow it shall have nothing to fear or to regret.[2.38]
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna But those who reject and defy Our revelations will be inmates of Hellfire, wherein they shall live forever."[2.39]

Wa Lā Talbisū Al-Ĥaqqa Bil-Bāţili Wa Taktumū Al-Ĥaqqa Wa 'Antum Ta`lamūna Do not mix the Truth with falsehood, or knowingly conceal the truth.[2.42]
Wa 'Aqīmū Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Ā Az-Zakāata Wa Arka`ū Ma`a Ar-Rāki`īna Establish Salah (prayers); give Zakah (charity); and bow down with those who bow down in worship.[2.43]
'Ata'murūna An-Nāsa Bil-Birri Wa Tansawna 'Anfusakum Wa 'Antum Tatlūna Al-Kitāba 'Afalā Ta`qilūna Would you ask others to be righteous and forget to practice it yourselves? Even though you read your Holy Book? Have you no sense? [2.44]
Wa Asta`īnū Biş-Şabri Wa Aş-Şalāati Wa 'Innahā Lakabīratun 'Illā `Alá Al-Khāshi`īna Seek Allahs help with patience and Salah; it is indeed hard to be patient and punctual in offering Salah except for those who fear Allah,[2.45]
Al-Ladhīna Yažunnūna 'Annahum Mulāqū Rabbihim Wa 'Annahum 'Ilayhi Rāji`ūna who are certain in their mind that they are going to meet their Rabb and that they are going to return to Him for final judgment.[2.46]

Wa 'Idh Faraqnā Bikumu Al-Baĥra Fa'anjaynākum Wa 'Aghraqnā 'Āla Fir`awna Wa 'Antum Tanžurūna And We parted the Red Sea for you, taking you to safety, and drowned Fir'ons people before your very eyes.[2.50]
Wa 'Idh Wā`adnā Mūsá 'Arba`īna Laylatan Thumma Attakhadhtumu Al-`Ijla Min Ba`dihi Wa 'Antum Žālimūna Remember when We communed with Musa (Moses) for forty nights and in his absence you took the calf for worship, thus committing a wicked transgression.[2.51]
Thumma `Afawnā `Ankum Min Ba`di Dhālika La`allakum Tashkurūna Even then We forgave you, so that you might become grateful.[2.52]
Wa 'Idh 'Ātaynā Mūsá Al-Kitāba Wa Al-Furqāna La`allakum Tahtadūna We gave Musa (Moses) the Holy Book (Torah) and the criterion of right and wrong so that you might be rightly guided.[2.53]
Wa 'Idh Qāla Mūsá Liqawmihi Yā Qawmi 'Innakum Žalamtum 'Anfusakum Biāttikhādhikumu Al-`Ijla Fatūbū 'Ilá Bāri'ikumqtulū 'Anfusakum Dhālikum Khayrun Lakum `Inda Bāri'ikum Fatāba `Alaykum 'Innahu Huwa At-Tawwābu Ar-Raĥīmu Remember when Musa returned with the Divine Book, he said to his people: O my people! You have indeed grievously wronged yourselves by taking the calf for worship; so turn in repentance to your Creator and slay the culprits among you; that will be best for you in His sight." He accepted your repentance; surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.[2.54]
Wa 'Idh Qultum Yā Mūsá Lan Nu'umina Laka Ĥattá Nará Al-Laha Jahratan Fa'akhadhatkumu Aş-Şā`iqatu Wa 'Antum Tanžurūna Remember when you said: "O Musa! We shall never believe you until we see Allah with our own eyes," a thunderbolt struck you while you were looking on and you fell dead.[2.55]
Thumma Ba`athnākum Min Ba`di Mawtikum La`allakum Tashkurūna Then We raised you up after your death; so that you might be grateful.[2.56]

However, by violating our commandments they did not harm Us, but they harmed their own souls.[2.57]
Wa 'Idh Qulnā Adkhulū Hadhihi Al-Qaryata Fakulū Minhā Ĥaythu Shi'tum Raghadāan Wa Adkhulū Al-Bāba Sujjadāan Wa Qūlū Ĥiţţatun Naghfir Lakum Khaţāyākum Wa Sanazīdu Al-Muĥsinīna Remember when We said: "Enter this town and eat whatever you wish to your heart's content; make your way through the gates, with humility saying; we repent.' We shall forgive you your sins and We shall increase the provisions for the righteous among you.[2.58]
Fabaddala Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Qawlāan Ghayra Al-Ladhī Qīla Lahum Fa'anzalnā `Alá Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Rijzāan Mina As-Samā'i Bimā Kānū Yafsuqūna But the wrongdoers changed Our Words from that which they were asked to say, so We sent down a scourge from heaven as a punishment for their transgression.[2.59]
Wa 'Idh Astasqá Mūsá Liqawmihi Faqulnā Ađrib Bi`aşāka Al-Ĥajara Fānfajarat Minhu Athnatā `Ashrata `Aynāan Qad `Alima Kullu 'Unāsin Mashrabahum Kulū Wa Ashrabū Min Rizqi Al-Lahi Wa Lā Ta`thaw Fī Al-'Arđi Mufsidīna Remember the time when Musa (Moses) prayed for water for his people; We said: "Strike the rock with your staff." Thereupon twelve springs came out of it. Each tribe was assigned its own drinking-place. Then they were commanded: "Eat and drink of what Allah has provided and do not create mischief in the land."[2.60]

We cannot endure one kind of food; call on your Rabb to give us a variety of food which the earth produces, such as green-herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, and onions." What? Musa asked. Would you exchange the better for the worse? If thats what you want, go back to some city; there you will find what you have asked for. Gradually they became so degraded that shame and misery were brought upon them and they drew upon themselves the wrath of Allah; this was because they went on rejecting the commandments of Allah and killed His prophets unjustly, furthermore, it was the consequence of their disobedience and transgression.[2.61]
'Inna Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Al-Ladhīna Hādū Wa An-Naşārá Wa Aş-Şābi'īna Man 'Āmana Bil-Lahi Wa Al-Yawmi Al-'Ākhiri Wa `Amila Şāliĥāan Falahum 'Ajruhum `Inda Rabbihim Wa Lā Khawfun `Alayhim Wa Lā Hum Yaĥzanūna Rest assured that Believers (Muslims), Jews, Christians and Sabians - whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and performs good deeds - will be rewarded by their Rabb; they will have nothing to fear or to regret.[2.62]

Thumma Tawallaytum Min Ba`di Dhālika Falawlā Fađlu Al-Lahi `Alaykum Wa Raĥmatuhu Lakuntum Mina Al-Khāsirīna But even after that you backed out; if there would not have been the Grace and Mercy of Allah upon you, you surely would have been among the losers.[2.64]
Wa Laqad `Alimtumu Al-Ladhīna A`tadaw Minkum As-Sabti Faqulnā Lahum Kūnū Qiradatan Khāsi'īna You very well know the story of those of you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath; We ordered them: "Be detested apes".[2.65]
Faja`alnāhā Nakālāan Limā Bayna Yadayhā Wa Mā Khalfahā Wa Maw`ižatan Lilmuttaqīna Thus, We made their fate an example to their own people and to succeeding generations, and a lesson to those who are God-conscious.[2.66]

Musa replied: "Allah says, the said cow should be of a rich and deep yellow color pleasing to the eyes."[2.69]
Qālū Ad`u Lanā Rabbaka Yubayyin Lanā Mā Hiya 'Inna Al-Baqara Tashābaha `Alaynā Wa 'Innā 'In Shā'a Al-Lahu Lamuhtadūna Again they said: "Request your Rabb to clarify for us the exact type of cow she should be, for to us all cows look alike; if Allah wills, we shall be rightly guided."[2.70]
Qāla 'Innahu Yaqūlu 'Innahā BaqaratunDhalūlun Tuthīru Al-'Arđa Wa Lā Tasqī Al-Ĥartha MusallamatunShiyata Fīhā Qālū Al-'Āna Ji'ta Bil-Ĥaqqi Fadhabaĥūhā Wa Mā Kādū Yaf`alūna Musa replied: "Allah says, the said cow should have neither been used to till the soil nor water the fields; a healthy one free from any blemish." "Now you have brought us the accurate description," they said. Then they slaughtered her, after they had nearly declined.[2.71]
Wa 'Idh Qataltum Nafsāan Fa Addāra'tum Fīhā Wa Allāhu Mukhrijun Mā Kuntum Taktumūna And remember the incident when you killed a man and started disputing as to who killed him, Allah made it known what you concealed.[2.72]
Faqulnā Ađribūhu Biba`đihā Kadhālika Yuĥyī Al-Lahu Al-Mawtá Wa Yurīkum 'Āyātihi La`allakum Ta`qilūna So We said: "Strike the dead body with a piece of the slaughtered cow." Thats how Allah brought the dead to life to show you His Signs so that you may understand His power to restore life.[2.73]
Thumma Qasat Qulūbukum Min Ba`di Dhālika Fahiya Kālĥijārati 'Aw 'Ashaddu Qaswatan Wa 'Inna Mina Al-Ĥijārati Lamā Yatafajjaru Minhu Al-'Anhāru Wa 'Inna Minhā Lamā Yashshaqqaqu Fayakhruju Minhu Al-Mā'u Wa 'Inna Minhā Lamā Yahbiţu Min Khashyati Al-Lahi Wa Mā Al-Lahu Bighāfilin `Ammā Ta`malūna But even after seeing that your hearts became hard like a rock or even harder, for there are some rocks from which rivers gush out, and there are some which break asunder and water comes out of them, and there are some which fall down with the fear of Allah. When you deal with each other in lending for a fixed period of time, put it in writing. Let a scribe write it down with justice between the parties. The scribe, who is given the gift of literacy by Allah, should not refuse to write; he is under obligation to write. Let him who incurs the liability (debtor) dictate, fearing Allah his Rabb and not diminishing anything from the settlement. If the borrower is mentally unsound or weak or is unable to dictate himself, let the guardian of his interests dictate for him with justice. Let two witnesses from among you bear witness to all such documents, if two men cannot be found, then one man and two women of your choice should bear witness, so that if one of the women forgets anything the other may remind her. The witnesses must not refuse when they are called upon to do so. You must not be averse to writing (your contract) for a future period, whether it is a small matter or big. This action is more just for you in the sight of Allah, because it facilitates the establishment of evidence and is the best way to remove all doubts; but if it is a common commercial transaction concluded on the spot among yourselves, there is no blame on you if you do not put it in writing. You should have witnesses when you make commercial transactions. Let no harm be done to the scribe or witnesses; and if you do so, you shall be guilty of transgression. You are our Protector, help us against the unbelievers.[2.286]
