| Aqra' Biāsmi Rabbika Al-Ladhī Khalaqa | َ096-001 Recite with the name of your Lord Who created (all the universe), | اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ |
| Khalaqa Al-'Insāna Min `Alaqin | َ096-002 Who (also) created human being from a clot of blood. | خَلَقَ الإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَق ٍ |
| Aqra' Wa Rabbuka Al-'Akramu | َ096-003 Proclaim, for your Lord is the Most Benignant; | اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكْرَمُ |
| Al-Ladhī `Allama Bil-Qalami | َ096-004 Who taught knowledge by means of the pen, | الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ |
| `Allama Al-'Insāna Mā Lam Ya`lam | َ096-005 He taught human being what he did not know. | عَلَّمَ الإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ |
| Kallā 'Inna Al-'Insāna Layaţghá | َ096-006 Nay! (it is not at all as these people think), this human being does indeed indulge in transgression, | كَلاَّ إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَى |
| 'An Ra'āhu Astaghná | َ096-007 Because he thinks himself to be independent (of God). | أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى |
| 'Inna 'Ilá Rabbika Ar-Ruj`á | َ096-008 (Mankind!) surely, to your Lord is the ultimate return (of you all to be accounted for your deeds). | إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى |
| 'Ara'ayta Al-Ladhī Yanhá | َ096-009 Have you considered (the case of one) who forbids | أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى |
| `Abdāan 'Idhā Şallá | َ096-010 A servant (of God) when he prays (to His Lord)? | عَبْدا ً إِذَا صَلَّى |
| 'Ara'ayta 'In Kāna `Alá Al-Hudá | َ096-011 (Mankind!) do you ever consider if he (who prays to God) follows the right guidance, | أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى |
| 'Aw 'Amara Bit-Taqwá | َ096-012 Or enjoins guarding against evil. (How bad will be the end of that forbidder?) | أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى |
| 'Ara'ayta 'In Kadhdhaba Wa Tawallá | َ096-013 Do you (also) consider if a person (- the rejecter of Divine commandments) belies (them) and turns his back (upon the truth, what his end will be like)? | أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى |
| 'Alam Ya`lam Bi'anna Al-Laha Yará | َ096-014 Does He not know that Allâh indeed observes (all)? | أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى |
| Kallā La'in Lam Yantahi Lanasfa`ā Bin-Nāşiyahi | َ096-015 Nay, (it will never be as the rejecter desires.) If he does not desist (from these wicked ways), We shall assuredly (seize him and) drag him by the forelock - | كَلاَّ لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَه ِِ لَنَسْفَعَا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ |
| Nāşiyatin Kādhibatin Khāţi'ahin | َ096-016 A lying, sinful forelock! | نَاصِيَة ٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَة ٍ |
| Falyad`u Nādiyah | َ096-017 Then let him call members of his association. | فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَه |
| Sanad`u Az-Zabāniyaha | َ096-018 We will call Our brave defending guards. | سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ |
| Kallā Lā Tuţi`hu Wa Asjud Wāqtarib | َ096-019 Nay, (he will never succeed in his evil designs.) Yield not to him, rather continue to prostrate yourself (before your Lord) and draw near (to Him). [Prostration] | كَلاَّ لاَ تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ |
