(13)
‘I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah,
alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His
slave and Messenger.’

(13) 'Ash/hadu 'An
Lā 'Ilāha
'Illā Allāhu
Waĥdahu Lā Sharīka
Lahu Wa 'Ash/hadu 'Anna
Muĥammadāan `Abduhu
Wa Rasūluhu.

(13) أَشْهَدُ أَنْ
لا إِلَهََ إِلاَّ
اللَّهُ
وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ،
وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً
عَبْدُه
ُُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ. |

(14)
‘O Allah, make me of those who return to You often in repentance
and make me of those who remain clean and pure.’
 |
(14)
Al-Lahumma
Aj`alnī
Mina At-Tawwābīna
Wa Aj`alnī
Mina Al-Mutaţahhirīna.
 |
(14) اللَّهمَّ
اجْعَلْنِي
مِنَ التَّوَّابِيْنَ
وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ
المُتَطَهِّرِيْنَ.

|
(15)
‘How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You, I bear witness
that none has the right to be worshipped except You, I seek Your
forgiveness and turn in repentance to You.’
 |
(15) Subĥānaka
Al-Lahumma Wa Biĥamdika
'Ash/hadu 'An Lā
'Ialaha 'Illā
'Anta 'Astaghfiruka
Wa 'Atūbu 'Ilayka.

(15) سُبْحَانَكَ
اللَّهمَّ
وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ
لا إَلَهََ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوْبُ إِلَيْكَ. |

10.
When leaving the home |
|
الذكر عند الخروج من المنزل |
|
(16)
‘O Allah, I take refuge with You lest I should stray or be led
astray, or slip or be tripped, or oppress or be oppressed, or behave
foolishly or be treated foolishly.’
slip: i.e. to commit a sin
unintentionally

Al-Lahumma 'Innī
'A`ūdhu Bika 'An 'Ađilla 'Aw 'Uđalla 'Aw 'Azilla 'Aw 'Uzalla 'Aw
'Ažlima 'Aw 'Užlama 'Aw 'Ajhala
'Aw Yujhala `Alayya.

(16) اللَّهمَّ
إِنِّي
أَعُوْذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَضِلَّ أَوْ أُضَلَّ, أَوْ أَزِلَّ أَوْ أُزَلَّ،
أَوْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ، أَوْ أَجْهَلَ
أَوْ يُجْهَلَ عَلَيَّ. |

(17)
‘In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and
there is no might nor power except with Allah.’
 |
(17) Bismi
Allāhi
Tawakkaltu `Alá Allāhi
Wa Lā Ĥawla Wa Lā Qūwata 'Illā Bil-Lh .

(17) بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ
، وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّه
. |

Upon entering the home

(18)
‘In the name of Allah
we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we
place our trust.’
 |
(18) Bismi
Allāhi
Wa Lajnā Wa Bismi
Allāhi
Kharajnā Wa `Alá Rabbinā
Tawakkalnā.
 |
(18) بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ
اللَّهِ
خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا
تَوَكَّلْنَا. |

‘O Allah, place within my heart light, and upon my tongue light,
and within my ears light, and within my eyes light, and place behind me
light and in front of me light and above me light and beneath me light.
O Allah, bestow upon me light.’

(19) اللَّهمَّ
اجْعَلْ
فَي قَلْبِي نُوْرا، ً وَفِي
لِسَانِي نُوْرا، ً وَاجْعَلْ
فِي سَمْعِي نُوْرا، ً وَاجْعَلْ
فِي بَصَرِي نُوْرا،
ً وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ خَلْفِي
نُوْرا، ً وَمِنْ أَمَامِي
نُوْرا، ً وَاجْعَلْ
مِنْ فَوْقِي نُوْرا،
ً وَمِنْ تَحْتِي
نُوْرا. ً
اللَّهمَّ
أَعْطِنِي نُوْرا.ً |

(20)
‘I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face,
and His eternal authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah,
and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah,
open the gates of Your mercy for me.’

Al-`Ažīmi Wa Biwajhihi
Al-Karīmi
Wa Sulţānihi Al-Qaadīmi
Mina Ash-Shayţāni
Ar-Rajīmi Bismi
Allāhi

Aftaĥ Lī
'Abwāba
Raĥmatika.

(20) أَعُوْذُ بِاللَّهِ
العَظِيْمِ، وَبِوَجْهِهِ
الكَرِيْمِ،
وَسُلْطَانِهِ القََدِيْمِ،
مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ
الرَّجِيْمِ، بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
، وَالصَّلاةُ وَالسَّلامُ
عَلَى رَسُوْلِ اللَّهِ
، اللَّهمَّ
افْتَحْ لِي
أَبْوَابَ
رَحْمَتِكَ. |

14Upon

(21)
‘In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the
Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask You from Your favour. O
Allah, guard me from the accursed devil.’

(21) بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
وَالصَّلاةُ وَالسَّلامُ
عَلَى رَسُوْلِ اللَّهِ
، اللَّهمَّ
إِنِّي
أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ
فَضْلِكَ، اللَّهمَّ
اعْصِمْنِي مِنَ
الشَّيْطَانِ
الرَّجِيْمِ.

15.
Supplications related to the athan
(the call to prayer)

15.
أذكار الأذان
|
|
(22) ‘One repeats just as the
mu-aththin (one who calls to prayer) says, except when he says:
(i) ‘come to prayer, come to success’
instead, one should say:
(ii) ‘There is no might nor power except with Allah.’
|
(22)One repeats just as the
mu-aththin except in Ĥayya `Alá
Aş-Şalati
(or) Ĥayya `Alá Al-Falāĥi.
say Lā Ĥawla Wa Lā Qūwata 'Illā Bil-Lh .
|
يقول مثل ما يقول المؤذن إلا في:
(22)
(i)
حي على الصلاة (أو) حي على الفلاح.
فيقول:
(ii)
لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله. |
|
(23)
Immediately following the declaration of
faith called by the mu-aththin, one says:
‘And I too bear witness that none has
the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner,
and that Muhammad is His salve and Messenger. I am pleased with
Allah as a Lord, and Muhammad as a Messenger and Islam
as a religion.’

(23) Wa 'Anā
'Ash/hadu 'An Lā
'Ilāha
'Illā Al-Lhu Waĥdahu Lā Sharīka
Lahu Wa 'Anna
Muĥammadāan `Abduhu
Wa Rasūluhu Rađītu
Billāhi
Rabbāan Wa Bimuĥammadin
Rasūlāan Wa Bil-'Islāmi
Dīnā.an

(23) وَأَنَا
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا
إِلَهََ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ،
وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ، وَأَنَّ
مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُه
ُُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ، رَضِيْتُ بِاللَّهِ
رَبّا، ً وَبِمُحَمَّد
ٍ رَسُوْلا, ً
وَبِالإِسْلامِ دِيْنا.ً
|
|
(24) ‘One should then send
prayers on the Prophet (S) after answering the call of the mu-aththin’.
|
|
(24) يُصَلِّي عَلَى
النَّبِيِّ
صَلَّى اللَّهُ
عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ فَرَاغِه ِِ
مِنْ إِجَابَةِ
المُؤَذِّنِ. |
|
(25)
‘O Allah, Owner of this perfect call and Owner of this prayer to
be performed, bestow upon Muhammad al-waseelah and al-fadeelah
and send him upon a praised platform which You have promised him.
Verily, You never fail in Your promise.’

al-waseelah:
A station in paradise.
al-fadeelah:
A rank above the rest of creation.
praised platform: One in which all of
creation will praise him on, in order to bring about the account quickly
and be relieved from the lengthy standing or the role of
intercession. |
(25)
Al-Lahumma Rabba Hadhihi
Ad-Da`wati At-Tāmmati
Wa Aş-Şalati
Al-Qā'imati 'Āti
Muĥammadāan
Al-Wasīlata Wa Al-Fađīlata
Wa Ab`athhu
Maqāmāan Maĥmūdāan
Al-Ladhī Wa `Adtahu
'Innaka Lā Tukhlifu
Al-Mī`ādi .
 |
(25) اللَّهمَّ
رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ
التَّامَّةِ،
وَالصَّلاةِ
القَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدا
ً الوَسِيْلَةَ
وَالفَضِيْلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَاما
ً مَحْمُوْدا ً
الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ،
[ إِنَّكَ لا تُخْلِفُ
المِيْعَادِ
].
|
|
(26)
One should also supplicate for himself
during the time between the athan and the iqamah as
supplication at such time is not rejected.
|
|
(26)
يَدْعُو لِنَفْسِهِ بَيْنِ الأَذَانِ وَالإِقَامَةِ فَإِنَّ الدُّعَاءَ
حِيْنَئِذٍ لا يُرَدُّ.
