'Alif-Lām-Rā Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Wa Qur'ānin Mubīnin | Alif-Lām-Rā. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ān, and none but Allāh (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Qur'ān. (Al-Hijr 15:1) |
Rubamā Yawaddu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Law Kānū Muslimīna | Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allāh's Will in Islām Islāmic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. (Al-Hijr 15:2) |
Dharhum Ya'kulū Wa Yatamatta`ū Wa Yulhihimu Al-'Amalu Fasawfa Ya`lamūna | Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! (Al-Hijr 15:3) |
Wa Mā 'Ahlaknā Min Qaryatin 'Illā Wa Lahā Kitābun Ma`lūmun | And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. (Al-Hijr 15:4) |
Mā Tasbiqu Min 'Ummatin 'Ajalahā Wa Mā Yasta'khirūna | No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. (Al-Hijr 15:5) |
Wa Qālū Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhī Nuzzila `Alayhi Adh-Dhikru 'Innaka Lamajnūnun | And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW ) to whom the Dhikr (the Qur'ān) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. (Al-Hijr 15:6) |
Law Mā Ta'tīnā Bil-Malā'ikati 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna | "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" (Al-Hijr 15:7) |
Mā Nunazzilu Al-Malā'ikata 'Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Mā Kānū 'Idhāan Munžarīna | We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite! (Al-Hijr 15:8) |
'Innā Naĥnu Nazzalnā Adh-Dhikra Wa 'Innā Lahu Laĥāfižūna | Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'ān) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr 15:9) |
Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Min Qablika Fī Shiya`i Al-'Awwalīna | Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. (Al-Hijr 15:10) |
Wa Mā Ya'tīhim Min Rasūlin 'Illā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ūna | And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. (Al-Hijr 15:11) |
Kadhālika Naslukuhu Fī Qulūbi Al-Mujrimīna | Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimûn [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. (Al-Hijr 15:12) |
Lā Yu'uminūna Bihi Wa Qad Khalat Sunnatu Al-'Awwalīna | They would not believe in it (the Qur'ān), and already the example of (Allāh's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. (Al-Hijr 15:13) |
Wa Law Fataĥnā `Alayhim Bābāan Mina As-Samā'i Fažallū Fīhi Ya`rujūna | And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, (Al-Hijr 15:14) |
Laqālū 'Innamā Sukkirat 'Abşārunā Bal Naĥnu Qawmun Masĥūrūna | They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." (Al-Hijr 15:15) |
Wa Laqad Ja`alnā Fī As-Samā'i Burūjāan Wa Zayyannāhā Lilnnāžirīna | And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders. (Al-Hijr 15:16) |
Wa Ĥafižnāhā Min Kulli Shayţānin Rajīmin | And We have guarded it (near heaven) from every outcast Shaitān (devil). (Al-Hijr 15:17) |
'Illā Mani Astaraqa As-Sam`a Fa'atba`ahu Shihābun Mubīnun | Except him (devil) that gains hearing by stealing, he is pursued by a clear flaming fire. (Al-Hijr 15:18) |
Wa Al-'Arđa Madadnāhā Wa 'Alqaynā Fīhā Rawāsiya Wa 'Anbatnā Fīhā Min Kulli Shay'in Mawzūnin | And the earth We spread out, and placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein all kinds of things in due proportion. (Al-Hijr 15:19) |
Wa Ja`alnā Lakum Fīhā Ma`āyisha Wa Man Lastum Lahu Birāziqīna | And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those whom you provide not [moving (living) creatures, cattle, beasts, and other animals]. (Al-Hijr 15:20) |
Wa 'In Min Shay'in 'Illā `Indanā Khazā'inuhu Wa Mā Nunazziluhu 'Illā Biqadarin Ma`lūmin | And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure. (Al-Hijr 15:21) |
Wa 'Arsalnā Ar-Riyāĥa Lawāqiĥa Fa'anzalnā Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fa'asqaynākumūhu Wa Mā 'Antum Lahu Bikhāzinīna | And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then caused the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We gave it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like]. (Al-Hijr 15:22) |
Wa 'Innā Lanaĥnu Nuĥyī Wa Numītu Wa Naĥnu Al-Wārithūna | And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors. (Al-Hijr 15:23) |
Wa Laqad `Alimnā Al-Mustaqdimīna Minkum Wa Laqad `Alimnā Al-Musta'khirīna | And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards. (Al-Hijr 15:24) |
Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Huwa Yaĥshuruhum 'Innahu Ĥakīmun `Alīmun | And verily, your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing. (Al-Hijr 15:25) |
Wa Laqad Khalaqnā Al-'Insāna Min Şalşālin Min Ĥama'iin Masnūnin | And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. (Al-Hijr 15:26) |
Wa Al-Jānna Khalaqnāhu Min Qablu Min Nāri As-Samūmi | And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. (Al-Hijr 15:27) |
Wa 'Idh Qāla Rabbuka Lilmalā'ikati 'Innī Khāliqun Basharāan Min Şalşālin Min Ĥama'iin Masnūnin | And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. (Al-Hijr 15:28) |
Fa'idhā Sawwaytuhu Wa Nafakhtu Fīhi Min Rūĥī Faqa`ū Lahu Sājidīna | "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." (Al-Hijr 15:29) |
Fasajada Al-Malā'ikatu Kulluhum 'Ajma`ūna | So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. (Al-Hijr 15:30) |
'Illā 'Iblīsa 'Abá 'An Yakūna Ma`a As-Sājidīna | Except Iblīs (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. (Al-Hijr 15:31) |
Qāla Yā 'Iblīsu Mā Laka 'Allā Takūna Ma`a As-Sājidīna | (Allāh) said: "O Iblīs (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" (Al-Hijr 15:32) |
Qāla Lam 'Akun Li'sjuda Libasharin Khalaqtahu Min Şalşālin Min Ĥama'iin Masnūnin | [Iblīs (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." (Al-Hijr 15:33) |
Qāla Fākhruj Minhā Fa'innaka Rajīmun | (Allāh) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajīm (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsīr At-Tabarī] (Al-Hijr 15:34) |
Wa 'Inna `Alayka Al-La`nata 'Ilá Yawmi Ad-Dīni | "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." (Al-Hijr 15:35) |
Qāla Rabbi Fa'anžirnī 'Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna | [Iblīs (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." (Al-Hijr 15:36) |
Qāla Fa'innaka Mina Al-Munžarīna | Allāh said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, (Al-Hijr 15:37) |
'Ilá Yawmi Al-Waqti Al-Ma`lūmi | "Till the Day of the time appointed." (Al-Hijr 15:38) |
Qāla Rabbi Bimā 'Aghwaytanī La'uzayyinanna Lahum Fī Al-'Arđi Wa La'ughwiyannahum 'Ajma`īna | [Iblīs (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. (Al-Hijr 15:39) |
'Illā `Ibādaka Minhumu Al-Mukhlaşīna | "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." (Al-Hijr 15:40) |
Qāla Hādhā Şirāţun `Alayya Mustaqīmun | (Allāh) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." (Al-Hijr 15:41) |
'Inna `Ibādī Laysa Laka `Alayhim Sulţānun 'Illā Mani Attaba`aka Mina Al-Ghāwīna | "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghāwīn (Mushrikûn and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). (Al-Hijr 15:42) |
Wa 'Inna Jahannama Lamaw`iduhum 'Ajma`īna | "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. (Al-Hijr 15:43) |
Lahā Sab`atu 'Abwābin Likulli Bābin Minhum Juz'un Maqsūmun | "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. (Al-Hijr 15:44) |
'Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī Jannātin Wa `Uyūnin | "Truly! The Muttaqûn (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise). (Al-Hijr 15:45) |
Adkhulūhā Bisalāmin 'Āminīna | "(It will be said to them): 'Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.' (Al-Hijr 15:46) |
Wa Naza`nā Mā Fī Şudūrihim Min Ghillin 'Ikhwānāan `Alá Sururin Mutaqābilīna | "And We shall remove from their breasts any sense of injury (that they may have), (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones. (Al-Hijr 15:47) |
Lā Yamassuhum Fīhā Naşabun Wa Mā Hum Minhā Bimukhrajīna | "No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it." (Al-Hijr 15:48) |
Nabbi' `Ibādī 'Annī 'Anā Al-Ghafūru Ar-Raĥīmu | Declare (O Muhammad SAW) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful. (Al-Hijr 15:49) |
Wa 'Anna `Adhābī Huwa Al-`Adhābu Al-'Alīmu | And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment. (Al-Hijr 15:50) |
Wa Nabbi'hum `An Đayfi 'Ibrāhīma | And tell them about the guests (the angels) of Ibrāhim (Abraham). (Al-Hijr 15:51) |
'Idh Dakhalū `Alayhi Faqālū Salāmāan Qāla 'Innā Minkum Wajilūna | When they entered unto him, and said: Salāman (peace)! [Ibrāhim (Abraham)] said: "Indeed! We are afraid of you." (Al-Hijr 15:52) |
Qālū Lā Tawjal 'Innā Nubashshiruka Bighulāmin `Alīmin | They (the angels) said: "Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom." (Al-Hijr 15:53) |
Qāla 'Abashshartumūnī `Alá 'An Massaniya Al-Kibaru Fabima Tubashshirūna | [Ibrāhim (Abraham)] said: "Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?" (Al-Hijr 15:54) |
Qālū Bashsharnāka Bil-Ĥaqqi Falā Takun Mina Al-Qāniţīna | They (the angels) said: "We give you glad tidings in truth. So be not of the despairing ones." (Al-Hijr 15:55) |
Qāla Wa Man Yaqnaţu Min Raĥmati Rabbihi 'Illā Ađ-Đāllūna | [Ibrāhim (Abraham)] said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?" (Al-Hijr 15:56) |
Qāla Famā Khaţbukum 'Ayyuhā Al-Mursalūna | [Ibrāhim (Abraham) again] said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?" (Al-Hijr 15:57) |
Qālū 'Innā 'Ursilnā 'Ilá Qawmin Mujrimīna | They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimûn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners). (Al-Hijr 15:58) |
'Illā 'Āla Lūţin 'Innā Lamunajjūhum 'Ajma`īna | "(All) except the family of Lout (Lot). Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction). (Al-Hijr 15:59) |
'Illā Amra'atahu Qaddarnā 'Innahā Lamina Al-Ghābirīna | "Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)." (Al-Hijr 15:60) |
Falammā Jā'a 'Āla Lūţin Al-Mursalūna | Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). (Al-Hijr 15:61) |
Qāla 'Innakum Qawmun Munkarūna | He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." (Al-Hijr 15:62) |
Qālū Bal Ji'nāka Bimā Kānū Fīhi Yamtarūna | They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. (Al-Hijr 15:63) |
Wa 'Ataynāka Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Innā Laşādiqūna | "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. (Al-Hijr 15:64) |
Fa'asri Bi'ahlika Biqiţ`in Mina Al-Layli Wa Attabi` 'Adbārahum Wa Lā Yaltafit Minkum 'Aĥadun Wa Amđū Ĥaythu Tu'umarūna | "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." (Al-Hijr 15:65) |
Wa Qađaynā 'Ilayhi Dhālika Al-'Amra 'Anna Dābira Hā'uulā' Maqţū`un Muşbiĥīna | And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. (Al-Hijr 15:66) |
Wa Jā'a 'Ahlu Al-Madīnati Yastabshirūna | And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). (Al-Hijr 15:67) |
Qāla 'Inna Hā'uulā' Đayfī Falā Tafđaĥūni | [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. (Al-Hijr 15:68) |
Wa Attaqū Al-Laha Wa Lā Tukhzūni | "And fear Allāh and disgrace me not." (Al-Hijr 15:69) |
Qālū 'Awalam Nanhaka `Ani Al-`Ālamīna | They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamīn (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" (Al-Hijr 15:70) |
Qāla Hā'uulā' Banātī 'In Kuntum Fā`ilīna | [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." (Al-Hijr 15:71) |
La`amruka 'Innahum Lafī Sakratihim Ya`mahūna | Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. (Al-Hijr 15:72) |
Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Mushriqīna | So As-Saīhah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; (Al-Hijr 15:73) |
Faja`alnā `Āliyahā Sāfilahā Wa 'Amţarnā `Alayhim Ĥijāratan Min Sijjīlin | And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. (Al-Hijr 15:74) |
'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Lilmutawassimīna | Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allāh). (Al-Hijr 15:75) |
Wa 'Innahā Labisabīlin Muqīmin | And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). (Al-Hijr 15:76) |
'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyatan Lilmu'uminīna | Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. (Al-Hijr 15:77) |
Wa 'In Kāna 'Aşĥābu Al-'Aykati Lažālimīna | And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allāh), were also Zālimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). (Al-Hijr 15:78) |
Fāntaqamnā Minhum Wa 'Innahumā Labi'imāmin Mubīnin | So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. (Al-Hijr 15:79) |
Wa Laqad Kadhdhaba 'Aşĥābu Al-Ĥijri Al-Mursalīna | And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. (Al-Hijr 15:80) |
Wa 'Ātaynāhum 'Āyātinā Fakānū `Anhā Mu`riđīna | And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. (Al-Hijr 15:81) |
Wa Kānū Yanĥitūna Mina Al-Jibāli Buyūtāan 'Āminīna | And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. (Al-Hijr 15:82) |
Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Muşbiĥīna | But As-Saīhah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). (Al-Hijr 15:83) |
Famā 'Aghná `Anhum Mā Kānū Yaksibūna | And all that which they used to earn availed them not. (Al-Hijr 15:84) |
Wa Mā Khalaqnā As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā 'Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Inna As-Sā`ata La'ātiyatun Fāşfaĥi Aş-Şafĥa Al-Jamīla | And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad SAW), their faults with gracious forgiveness. [This was before the ordainment of Jihād holy fighting in Allāh's Cause]. (Al-Hijr 15:85) |
'Inna Rabbaka Huwa Al-Khallāqu Al-`Alīmu | Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. (Al-Hijr 15:86) |
Wa Laqad 'Ātaynāka Sab`āan Mina Al-Mathānī Wa Al-Qur'āna Al-`Ažīma | And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathāni (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Sûrat Al-Fātiha) and the Grand Qur'ān. (Al-Hijr 15:87) |
Lā Tamuddanna `Aynayka 'Ilá Mā Matta`nā Bihi 'Azwājāan Minhum Wa Lā Taĥzan `Alayhim Wa Akhfiđ Janāĥaka Lilmu'uminīna | Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). (Al-Hijr 15:88) |
Wa Qul 'Innī 'Anā An-Nadhīru Al-Mubīnu | And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." (Al-Hijr 15:89) |
Kamā 'Anzalnā `Alá Al-Muqtasimīna | As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). (Al-Hijr 15:90) |
Al-Ladhīna Ja`alū Al-Qur'āna `Iđīna | Who have made the Qur'ān into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). (Al-Hijr 15:91) |
Fawarabbika Lanas'alannahum 'Ajma`īna | So, by your Lord (O Muhammad SAW), We shall certainly call all of them to account. (Al-Hijr 15:92) |
`Ammā Kānū Ya`malūna | For all that they used to do (Al-Hijr 15:93) |
Fāşda` Bimā Tu'umaru Wa 'A`riđ `Ani Al-Mushrikīna | Therefore proclaim openly (Allāh's Message Islāmic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al-Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers, etc. - see V.2:105). (Al-Hijr 15:94) |
'Innā Kafaynāka Al-Mustahzi'īna | Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers (Al-Hijr 15:95) |
Al-Ladhīna Yaj`alūna Ma`a Al-Lahi 'Ilahāan 'Ākhara Fasawfa Ya`lamūna | Who set up along with Allāh another ilāh (god), they will come to know. (Al-Hijr 15:96) |
Wa Laqad Na`lamu 'Annaka Yađīqu Şadruka Bimā Yaqūlūna | Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. (Al-Hijr 15:97) |
Fasabbiĥ Biĥamdi Rabbika Wa Kun Mina As-Sājidīna | So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). (Al-Hijr 15:98) |
Wa A`bud Rabbaka Ĥattá Ya'tiyaka Al-Yaqīnu | And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). (Al-Hijr 15:99) |
